Methods Duo Fa was applied to Tiānzhù (天柱 BL10), Fēngchí (风池 GB20) to treat occipital neuralgia and compare its results with routine acupuncture. Results The total effective rate was 95.6 % in Duo Fa group, 77.8% in routine group, indicating significant difference (P〈0.05). Conclusion Comparing with routine acupuncture, Duo Fa is advantageous at selection of fewer acupoints, better therapeutic effect and quicker achievement of efficacy in treatment of occipital neuralgia.展开更多

Methods. Ninety-six patients suffering from primary dysmenorrhea were randomly and evenly divided into trealment group treated with medicine-separated moxibustion of Shenque (神阙 CV 8, 3-5 cones every time, beginning 1 week before onset of menstruation and stopping on the 3^rd day after onset, with 10 sessions being a therapeutic oourse, 3 courses all together), and control group treated with oral administration of Yueyueshu (月月舒 menstruation-smoothing granule, 10 g/time, b.i.d, 3 courses altogether). Menses prostaglandin E2(PGF2α) and plasma oxytocin (OT) during menstruation were determined by radioimmunoassay. Results; After the treatment, of the two 48 cases in treatment and control groups, 18 and 5 were cured, 24 and 9 had marked improvement in their symptoms, 6 and 26 had improvement, 0 and 8 failed in the treatment, with the total effective rates being 100. 096 and 83.3% respectively, the therapeutic effect of treatment group was markedly superior to that of control group (P〈0.05). After the treatment, the contents of menses PGF2α in treatment group and plasma OT in both groups were significantly lower than those of pre-treatment ( P〈 0.01 ). The therapeutic effect of moxibustion was significant- ly better than that of medication in lowering plasma OT. Conclusion: Medicine-separated moxibustion works well in treating primary dysmenorrhea, and moxibustion induced decrease of menses PGF2α and plasma OT may contribute to its effect in relieving dysmenorrhea.展开更多

Majority of the tri als have some methodological and/or reporting shortcomings. The frequency and in tensity of dysmenorrhea are divided into intermittent and continuous types. Resu lts of quantitative meta-analysis with Revman 4.1 software showed that the exis t ing evidence supports the value of acupuncture for the treatment of dysmenorrhea . However, the quality of evidence is not fully convincing. There is an urgent n eed for well-planned, large-scale and multiple-center studies to assess the e ffe ctiveness and cost-effectiveness of acupuncture under real-life conditions.展开更多

Methods: A total of acute gastroenteritis patients observed were randomized into two groups, i.e. 70 cases in the treatment group receiving EA of main acupoint Neiguan (PC 6) and Gongsun (SP 4) and acupuncture of supplementary acupoint Guanyuan (CV 4), Zusanli (ST 36), Pishu (BL 20) and 50 cases in the control group treated by oral administration of Norfloxacin capsules. Results: Statistically, the therapeutic results of the 2 groups were not significantly different (P>0.05), showing that EA of Neiguan (PC 6) and Gongsun (SP 4) is an effective therapeutic method for acute gastroenteritis.展开更多

The patients of acute bronchitis were randomly divided into 2 groups. In the observation group, there were 36 cases, who were treated with the integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine, primarily the pricking-cupping method on Back-shu points; while in the control group, there were 29 cases who were given the conventinal treatment of western medicine. All the 2 groups were treated for 7 days as one treating course. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group was 97.2% while that of the control group was 82,8%, so there is a significant difference between them. On the first and third days the clinical manifestations were more satisfactorily improved in the treatment group than in the control group (P 〈 0.01) and on the fifth and seventh days, the comparison showed no significant difference (P〉0.05). Conclusion: The treatment of acute bronchitis by means of the integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine primarily with pricking-cupping method on Back-shu points is of marked therapeutic effect, simple manipulation, and little untoward effects, thus claiming the unique advantage.展开更多

Methods According to the discovery, clinical exploration and clinical practice of Neimadian (内麻点) point, local anatomy, positioning, manipulation, clinical application, precautions for manipulation and handling of adverse reactions of Nei madian point were summarized. Results After acupuncture at Neimadian point with continuous stimulation, it was shown that the level of serum β-endorphin increased significantly, while the level of angiotensin II was unchanged, indicating that acupuncture at Neimadian point has a good analgesic effect. Conclusion Acupuncture at Neimadian point can be used for clinical treatment of acute and chronic pain.展开更多
