Methods Patients were randomly divided into an acupuncture group (n =30) and a control group (n =26). In the control group, gliclazide, at the dose of 80 mg/d, for lowering blood sugar, and adenosine coenzyme B12, at the dose of 0.75 mg, for improving nutrition of nerves were orally administered. In the acupuncture group, acupuncture at bilateral Yishu point was added. Three weeks of treatments were given for both groups. Therapeutic effects and changes in fasting blood sugar, fasting glucose in urine and blood fat were observed. Results The total effective rate was 93.3% and 67.3% in the acupuncture and control group, respectively. Fasting blood sugar, fasting glucose in urine, total cholesterol and triglyceride were obviously lowered, and high density lipoprotein markedly elevated in the acupuncture group with significant differences, compared with those in the control group (P〈0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture combined with medicine can improve disorder of fat metabolism in diabetic patients at the early and intermediate stages and depress and stabilize blood glucose to improve neural functions.展开更多

Methods: The model rats were prepared by occlusion of the middle cerebral artery for 2 hours and then by reperfusion. They were randomly divided into two groups: a control group and an EA group. Changes in differentiation and proliferation of the nerve stem cells were observed 7, 14 and 28 days after successful modeling. Results: As compared with the 7-day control group (C-7d group), there was no significant difference (P〉0.05) in the numbers of 5-bromodeoxyuridine (Brdu) positive cells, Brdu/GFAP, Brdu/Nestin and Brdu/Nse double-labeled cells in the inferior zone of the lateral ventricle in the EA group 7 days after modeling. However, in the 14-day EA group (R-14d group) and the 28-day EA group (R-28d group), the numbers of Brdu positive cells and Brdu/GFAE Brdu/Nestin, Brdu/Nse double-labeled cells significantly increased as compared respectively with the 14-day control (C-14d group) and the 28-day control (C-28d) group (P〈0.05 or P〈0.01). Conclusions: EA at the Conception Vessel promotes differentiation and proliferation of the nerve stem cells in the inferior zone of the lateral ventricle in the cerebral ischemia rats, and may stimulate differentiation of the proliferous nerve stem cells towards the astrocvtes.展开更多

The wholism concept of TCM refers to the organism being an integrated entirety, and the regulatory effect of acupuncture on functional activities of the organism relies on the integral connection of the acupoint-meridian-collateral-zangfu-organ system. When stimulated with acupuncture, the human body will brings its potential force into full play in preventing and treating diseases.展开更多

METHODS: Fifty Wistar rats were randomly divided into 1, 2,3,4, and 5 d groups, and every group had 10 animals. HRP (30% aqueous solution) was injected into a Fengch'ih. Serial, transverse or capital, 40 urn sections of the cervical spinal ganglia, cervical and thoracic spinal cord segment and brain were cut on a cryotome. Sections were incubated for HRP histochemistry according to the tetramethylbenzidine (TMB). Part of the sections were counterstained with neutral red. RESULTS: After 1 d of survival times, many labeled cell bodies were found in 1-4 cervical spinal ganglia, anterior horn of 1-4 cervical spinal cord, ventromedial division of facial nucleus, accessory facial nucleus ipsilaterally. With increasing survival times, the intensity of labeled cells were slightly decreased. CONCLUSION: Fengch'ih may bring into full play its effect by correlation of posterior ear branch of facial nerve and anterior branch of 2-3 cervical nerve with 1-4 cervical the anterior horn of the spinal cord, ventromedial division of facial nucleus, accessory facial nucleus.展开更多

A total of 92 sciatica patients were randomly divided into Houding group (n=62) and control group (n=30). In Houding group, patients were treated mainly with puncturing Houding (GV 19), combined with Huantiao (GB 30) when necessary. In control group, patients were treated with Huantiao (GB 30), Yanglingquan (GB 34) or Zhibian (BL 54), Weizhong (BL 40), Chengshan (BL 57), Kunlun (BL 60), etc. which were selected along the route of meridian. Results indicated that following 10 sessions of treatment, in Houing and control groups, of the 62 and 30 cases, 44 and 15 were basically cured, 18 and 10 were improved, 0 and 5 failed in the treatment, with the total effective rates being 100% and 83,3% respectively. The therapeutic effect of Houding (GV 19) is significantly superior to that of acupoints selected along the meridian.展开更多

Yuyao (EX HN 4), Touwei (ST 8), Sibai (ST 2), Quanliao (SI 18), Xiaguan (ST 7) and Jiachengjiang were punctured selectively according to the involvement of different branches of the trigeminal nerve. After treatment, of the 2656 cases, the trigeminal neuralgia disappeared in 1469 (55.31%), 727 (27.37%) had marked improvement, 430 (16.19%) had improvement and 30 (1.13%) had no any significant effect. The three years’ follow up visit in 245 cases showed a relapse in 187 cases (76.3%). We think that the therapeutic effect is closely related to the needling manipulations. Only when an electric shock like needling sensation appeared (i.e. “qi reaching the affected area") after inserting the acupuncture needle into the chief acupoints, a better therapeutic effect would be achieved.展开更多

This system was highly successful in treatment of a variety of illnesses including HWS, BWS and LWS Syndromes, gonarthritis, coxarthritis, rhizarthrosis, periarthritis of the shoulder, epicondylitis humeri radialis, tendinitis, fibromyalgia and PCP, Morbus Bechterew, paralysis after stroke, migraine and other headache syndrome, tinnitus, trigeminal neuralgia, gastropathy, bronchial asthma, AVK, mental depression and other psychovegatative burnout syndrome by using both body acupoints and otopoints. Treatment was made by simultaneously using 8 Laserneedles which were not pricked into, but stuck onto the skin. The Laserneedles emit red and infrared Laserrays with a high energy output, so that perceptible, vegetative stimulation can be detected at the acupunctrured sites. We found out, that especially in the therapy resistant, long standing cases and cases with chronic back and spine problems, considerable improvements in easing pain and increasing mobility could be made. Recognizable success was made by using Laserneedles in cases suffering from psychological illnesses, especially psychosomatic related Burnout syndrome and cases of exhaustion. Usually after 2~3 treatments, efficient success was made, without any side effects what so ever.展开更多
