Methods Forty cases of anovulatory infertility were treated with electroacupuncture and moxibustion at Zigong (子宫 EX-CA 1), Guanyuan (元关 CV 4) and Zhongji (中极 CV 3) as well as Linggui Bafa therapy, 30 min each time, once a day for 15 days. One menstrual cycle made a session, and totally 3 sessions were required. The level of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH) and estradiol (E2), the growth and development situation of follicle and endometrium before and after treatment, spontaneous pregnancy rate during follow-up visit were observed and compared. Results After the treatment, the level of FSH, LH and Ez were signifiacntly increased (all P〈0.05), the thickness of endometrium and diameter of follicle were obviously increased (both P〈0.05). As for the spontaneous pregnancy rate during follow- up visit, 9 cases were cured, 25 cases were effective, 6 cases were failed and the total effective rate was 85.0%. Conclusion The acupuncture and moxibustion has better clinical efficacy for anovulatory infertility.展开更多

Methods: A total of 120 female patients with overactive bladder syndrome were allocated to a treatment group of 80 cases and a control group of 40 cases on a voluntary basis. The patients in the treatment group received EA at four sacral points, and the treatment was given three times a week for 6 consecutive weeks, while the patients in the control group received oral administration of M-receptor antagonist tolterodine tartrate, which was given 4 mg each time, once a day for 6 consecutive weeks. Then the symptom scores were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results: At the end of treatment, the symptom scores showed statistical significant differences in comparing with those before treatment in both groups (both P〈0.02); the symptom score in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group, showing a statistically significant difference (P〈0.05). Conclusion: EA at four sacral points is an effective method for overactive bladder syndrome.展开更多

Acupuncture therapy has a good effect for LUFS. In order to understand the clinical effects and research situation of acupuncture therapy for LUFS, the author analyzed and reviewed the relevant literature. It was indicated by the findings that acupuncture therapy and integrative therapy of acupuncture and Chinese herbs have good therapeutic effect for this disease. Acupuncture therapy has the effect to promote ovulation. By the therapeutic principle to tonify the kidney and circulate blood, acupuncture therapy mostly was adopted in the period of ovulation. The acupoints are mostly selected from the lower abdomen and lower limbs, possibly based upon syndrome differentiation at the same time. The needling techniques are of certain characteristics. But, the issues of low quality, un-standardized inclusive, exclusive criteria and effective criteria still exist in the current clinical study.展开更多

Methods Four hundred and eighty-eight cases of post-stroke patients with upper limb spasticity were randomly divided into two groups at the ratio of 1: 1, the group of meridian sinew row needling combined with dermal needling (group A, 244 cases) and western medication group (group B, 244 cases). Coupled with rehabilitation, the patients in the group A were given meridian sinew row needling combined with dermal needling where five shu points were specifically selected, and three yang meridians of the hand were treated with acupuncture with muscle region, and three yin meridians of the hand were treated with dermal needles; the patients in the group B was treated with conventional western medication with piracetam injection and cerebroprotein hydrolysate included. Clinical efficacy was evaluated among patients in the two groups after three weeks of continuous treatment, and upper limb spasticity and motor functions were observed through modified Asworth Scale and FugI-Meyer Assessment Scale (FMA) before and after treatment. Results For Asworth Scale, group A was significantly superior to group B (3.04 ± 1.29 vs 3.88 ± 1.54, P〈0.05); for FMA scale, group A was also significantly superior to group B (48.67± 15.64 vs 42.96±14.72, P〈0.05); mitigations of motor status of upper limb joints in group A, such as remission of shoulder adduction (90.5%), pronation of forearm (70.7%), elbow joint flexion (73.1%), wrist joint flexion (80.9%) and finger flexion (88.1%), were superior to those of group B (70.0%, 60.0%, 61.9%, 57.4%, 63.2%, all P〈0.05). Conclusion Good clinical efficacy of the treatment with combined with dermal needling on spasticity of post-stroke patients with upper limb hemiparalysis is achieved.展开更多

Method: Compound diphenoxylate was used to set up rat model of constipation. After needling “Hegu” and “Housanli”, the time to first bowel movement, and stool grains quantity and weight in 12 rats were observed. Results: The time to first bowel movement was delayed, and the stool grains quantity and weight were reduced in the model rats. Acupuncture could significantly shorten the time to first bowel movement, and increase stool grains quantity and weight. Conclusion: Acuouncture can imorove the defecating abilities in rats model ofconstioation.展开更多

It is commonly seen in women with irregular menstruation or menstrual cycles, especially in those with oligomenorrhea or amenorrhea. Ovulatory dysfunction is considered the single-most frequent cause of female infertility. Clinically, the two major causes of ovulatory dysfunction are polycystic ovarian syndrome(PCOS) and luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome(LUFS). Acupuncture-moxibustion improves ovulation and helps with infertility. Through a systematic review and analysis on relevant literatures in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture-moxibustion Databank over the last decade, this paper summarized the characteristics and pattern of acupuncture-moxibustion points for improving ovulation in order to provide an optimal acupuncture-moxibustion protocol in this regard.展开更多

The present study is to observe the ambulatory urodynamics changing of needling Huiyang (BL 35) on USB to provide scientific basis for the relative theory of acupoint and Zang-fu organs, and the rule of acupuncture treatment. Methods: Unstable bladder model were prepared in 80 Wistar rats, and then they were randomly divided into treatment group (n=40) and model group (n=40). The urodynamics were monitored respectively at 2 h, 6 h, 12 h and 24 h after acupuncture and the results were analyzed. Results: After acupuncture Huiyang (BL 35), the compliance of bladder were superior to that of model group at 2 h, 6 h and 12 h, respectively (P〈0.05), and the bladder volume were superior to that of model group at 2 h and 12 h, respectively (P〈0.05). After acupuncture Huiyang (BL 35), the compliance and volumn of bladder at 12 h were superior to those at other time (P〈0.05). Twenty-four hours later, the effect of acupuncture on urodynamics decreased. Conclusion: Needling Huiyang (BL 35) could improve the urodynamics of USB, including improving the compliance of bladder and increasing the volume of bladder. Acupuncture Huiyang (BL 35) had the most effect at 12 h.展开更多
