Methods 476 cases of indigestion of food retention in children were treated by acupuncture plus massage. Results 385 of the 476 cases were cured, and 91 cases were improved by one treatment with a total effective rate of 100%. Conclusion Acupuncture plus massage provided remarkable therapeutic effects on indigestion of food retention in children.展开更多

Methods: 92 cases were divided randomly into the treatment group (treated by acupuncture-moxibustion and Chinese Tuina) and the control group (treated,by acupuncture-moxibustion). Results: The therapeutic effect of the treatment group was obviously Superior to that of the control group (the x^2 test showed P〈0.01). Conclusions: The comprehensive therapy of acupuncture-moxibustion and Chinese Tuina can give marked therapeutic effects for, treatment of insomnia due to deficiency of both the heart and spleen.展开更多

Methods: Thirty cases of the treatment group were treated by acupuncture combined with spinal Tui Na, and thirty cases in the control group were treated by routine acupuncture. Results: The total effective rate was 93.3% in the treatment group, and 73.3% in the control group, with a significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). Conclusions: Acupuncture combined with spinal Tui Na has good prospects for treatment of primary dysmenorrhea.展开更多

Methods: A total of 122 patients with migraine due to liver-Yang hyperactivity were recruited and randomized into a control group and an observation group, each consisting of 61 cases. The control group was given Tong Nao Huo Luo acupuncture (acupuncture treatment for unblocking brain collaterals), and the observation group was Tuina treatment focusing on cervical Ashi points in addition to the intervention received by the control group. Both groups were treated once daily for 21 consecutive days. When the intervention finished, the two groups were observed for changes in the headache score, symptom and sign scores of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the severity of impact on life, and serum CGRP and PGE_(2) levels. The clinical efficacy was compared after 21 d of treatment. Results: The observation group had a higher total effective rate than the control group, 90.2% versus 73.8% (P<0.05);after treatment, the headache and TCM symptom and sign scores decreased in both groups (P<0.05) and were lower in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05);the migraine’s impact on life was less severe in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05);the levels of serum CGRP and PGE_(2) dropped in the two groups (P<0.05) and were lower in the observation group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Tong Nao Huo Luo acupuncture can produce more significant efficacy in treating migraine due to liver-Yang hyperactivity when combined with cervical Tuina at Ashi points, better alleviating the headache, improving TCM symptoms and body signs, and reducing the impact of headache on life. The mechanism may be associated with inhibiting the expression of serum pain factors CGRP and PGE_(2).展开更多

Methods Eighty cases were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 40 cases in each one. In observation group, acupuncture combined with Chinese massage was applied. The main acupoints for acupuncture were Nèixīyǎn (内膝眼 EX-LE 4), Hèdǐng (鹤顶 EX-LE 2), Dúbí (犊鼻 ST 35), etc. In Chinese massage, gun-fa (rolling), rou-fa (kneading), na-fa (grasping), ca-fa (rubbing) and passive movements of joints were applied. In control group, Fenbid was administered orally. The efficacy evaluation, JOA score and the result of isokinetic testing were compared before and after treatment in two groups. Results ① The total effective rate was 90.0% (36/40) in observation group and was 87.5% (35/40) in control group, indicating equivalent efficacy between two groups (P0.05). JOA score after treatment increased remarkably compared with that before treatment in two groups (both P0.01). ② It was indicated in isokinetic test of two groups that peak torque (PT), total work (TW) and average power (AP) after treatment were all improved in comparison with those before treatment (P0.05, P0.01) and the improvement after treatment in observation group was much more remarkable as compared with that in control group (all P0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture and Chinese massage can improve significantly in the symptoms, the muscle strength of the flexors and extensors as well as motor function of the patients with knee osteoarthritis, which is superior to that achieved with Fenbid.展开更多

Methods:A hundred patients with straightened cervical curvature were randomized into 5 groups to receive corresponding treatment. The clinical efficacies and the changes of cervical curvature in the five groups were compared. Results:Different therapies all produced certain effectiveness in treating cervical spondylosis patients. The total effective rates in the acupuncture group and tuina group were both 100%, and the rates in the traction group, oral medication group and Chinese medicinal application group were all lower than the rates in the acupuncture group and tuina group (P〈0.05). It was shown that the more significant the change of cervical curvature, the more significant the clinical efficacy. Conclusion:Correcting the straightened cervical curvature is a way to swiftly release pain brought by cervical spondylosis; the optimization of different therapies ensures the achievement of long-term effectiveness; acupuncture and tuina are both effective in restoring the cervical curvature.展开更多
