Methods Sixty obese patients with abnormal lipids and serum leptin were randomly divided into a dilatational wave group and a continuous wave group via random number table, with 30 cases in each group. They were divided by TCM differentiation into three types: stomachintestine excessive heat, weakness of the spleen-stomach and spleen-kidney yang deficiency, treated by electroacupuncture on Tianshu (天枢 ST 25), Daheng (大横 SP 15), Zusanli (足三里ST 36), Shangjuxu (上巨虚 ST 37), Fanglong (丰隆 ST 40), Yinlingquan (阴陵泉 SP 9), Quchi (曲池 LI 11), Zhigou (支沟 TE 6) and Hegu (合谷 LI 4) along with thunder-fire moxibustion. The frequency of electro-acupuncture in the dilatational wave group and the continuous wave group was 2 Hz/100 Hz and 2 Hz, respectively. Patients in the two groups were treated once a day, six times a week. The treatment lasted for 4 weeks with 3-month follow-up. Body mass and body fat percentage before and after the treatment, as well as during the follow-up, were compared. The effectiveness rates in the two groups were compared, and the efficacy statistics of patients with different TCM patterns in the dilatational wave group were also analyzed. Lipid levels of the patients in two groups before and after the treatment were measured with an automatic biochemical analyzer, and serum leptin levels were detected with flow cytometry system. Results After the treatment, the patients' blood lipids, serum leptin levels, body mass and body fat percentage were effectively reduced in the two groups; three months' follow-up witnessed continuous decline of obesity indicators (P〈0.01 or P〈0.05), and patients in the dilatat-ional wave group improved more significantly than those in continuous wave group (P〈0.05 or P〈0.01). The efficacy in the dilatational wave group was superior to that in the continuous wave group (P〈0.01). The best efficacy could be found among patients with weakness of the spleen and the stomach in the dilatational wave group. Conclusion Efficacy of treating obese patients with abnormity of lipids and serum leptin by electro-acupuncture combined with thunder-fire moxibustion in the dilatational wave group was significantly better than that of the continuous wave group, and efficacy for obese patients with weakness of the spleen and the stomach was superior to that of those with stomach-intestine excessive heat and spleen-kidney yang deficiency.展开更多

Method Computer was adopt to retrieve relevant literature about scalp acupuncture based therapy in treating children cerebral palsy published during 2999-2024 in PubMed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Biology Medicine Disc (CBM), VIP database, Wan fang database, Longyuan Electronic Journal and People's University Copying Periodical Resources Full-Text Database. The quality of literature about scalp acupuncture based therapy in treating children cerebral palsy was systematically evaluated and Meta analysis was conducted for integrated data by adopting evidence-based medicine and bibliometrics and through RevMan 5.2 statistical software. Results Two hundred and thirty-four literature were retrieved in total, within which, 7 of them were included. There were 796 cases in included literature, which were divided into a treatment group (416 cases) and a control group (380 cases). The total effective cases in the treatment group was 378, with the total effective rate of 90.9%, and the total effective cases of the control group was 282, with the total effective rate of 73.9%, which could provide evidence for the fact that the treatment of scalp acupuncture has increased the effective rate of child cerebral palsy by 17%. It is shown by Meta analysis that: OR is 0.16, 95% CI is (0.22, 0.22) and combined effect test is Z=6.27, P〈0.02, indicating that the combined effect size of several studies included is of statistical significance, and the difference between the control group and the treatment group is statistically significant. Conclusion The total effective rate of scalp acupuncture based therapy in treating children cerebral palsy is higher than that of modern medicine comprehensive rehabilitation treatment, and the treatment method of scalp acupuncture could be widely applied to clinic; but since articles about scalp acupuncture based therapy in treating children cerebral palsy published domestically are not qualified enough, only a few literature are included, hence, more power and strong evidences shall be verified by literature with higher quality.展开更多

Logistic regression was used to analyze the relationship between physical symptoms and possible correlative factors.RESULTS: A total of 858 questionnaires were analyzed. The data showed that 42.42% of acupuncturists had been exposed to moxa smoke for 5-10 years. The most frequent symptom was tearing(32.98%) and the least frequent symptom was asthma(5.24%). Logistic regression analysis showed that female acupuncturists were slightly more susceptible to cough and tearing than males(cough:OR: 1.583, 95% CI: 1.079, 2.321, P = 0.019; tearing:OR: 1.519, 95% CI: 1.094, 2.108, P = 0.013). Acupuncturists aged over 25 years reported a slightly lower incidence of eye itchiness than those aged under25 years(26-40 years: OR: 0.604, 95% CI: 0.379,0.965, P = 0.035; over 40 years: OR: 0.330, 95% CI:0.114, 0.958, P = 0.042). Ophthalmodynia occurred less in acupuncturists aged 26-40 years(OR: 0.591,95% CI: 0.359, 0.970, P = 0.038) than in those younger than 25 years. The only association between prevalence of symptoms and tobacco use and SHS exposure was that smokers had a lower occurrence of phlegm in the throat(OR: 0.579, 95% CI: 0.392,0.856, P = 0.006). Shortness of breath was less frequent in participants exposed to moxa smoke for more than 5 years(5-10 years: OR: 0.400, 95% CI:0.204, 0.785, P = 0.008; 11-20 years: OR: 0.392, 95%CI: 0.178, 0.864, P = 0.02), but a slightly higher incidence of eye itchiness was found in those with over20 years of moxa exposure(OR: 4.200, 95% CI:1.344, 3.128, P = 0.014).CONCLUSION: The most frequent symptom of moxa smoke exposure in acupuncturists was tear-ing. The association of symptoms with age and duration of exposure to moxa smoke were rather complicated; hence, care should be taken in drawing conclusions about the safety of moxa smoke based solely on its potentially harmful ingredients.展开更多

Methods: In a multi-center randomized controlled trial, 440 patients were divided into 3 groups: Acupuncture group for regulating the liver (Acup., 176 cases) was treated by acupuncture at Siguan Points, i.e. bilateral Hegu (LI 4) and Taichong (LR 3), Baihui (GV 20) and Yintang (EX-HN3) plus ear-acupuncture, Prozac group (P., 176 cases) by oral administration of Prozac, and Non-acupoint needling group (NAN, 88 cases) by acupuncture at non-acupoints as acupuncture placebo. Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) was examined before treatment, and one month, two and three months after treatment respectively to evaluate therapeutic effect, and Rating Scale for Side Effects (SERS) was used to evaluate the safety. Results: After one month of treatment, SDS scores in Acup. Group were significantly lower than that in P. Group (P<0.05) and than that in NAN Group (P<0.01), and SDS scores in P. Group were lower than that in NAN Group (P<0.05), showing the SDS scores in Acup. Group <P. Group <NAN Group. After 2 months of treatment, SDS scores in Acup. Group were also significantly lower than that in P. Group (P<0.01) and than that in NAN Group (P<0.01), and SDS scores in P. Group were also lower than that in NAN Group (P<0.05), showing the SDS scores in Acup. Group <P. Group <NAN Group. After 3 months of treatment, SDS scores in Acup. Group were also significantly lower than that in P. Group (P<0.01) and than that in NAN Group (P<0.01), and SDS scores in P. Group were also lower than that in NAN Group (P<0.01), showing the SDS score in Acup. Group <P. Group <NAN Group. After treatment, SERS scores were 0.16±0.95, 6.51±5.09 and 0.23±1.36 in Acup. Group, P. Group and NAN Group respectively. A significant difference existed between Acup. Group and P. Group (P<0.05), but no significant difference between Acup. Group and NAN Group (P>0.05), showing the SERS scores in Acup. Group <NAN Group <P. Group. No side effect was found in Acup. and NAN groups. Conclusion: The therapeutic effect of acupuncture on depressive neurosis is better than or similar to that of Prozac but with less side effect.展开更多
