However, some doctor prefers healthy-side needling with quite satisfactory results. We study and review the treatment of apoplexy by healthy-side needling to further improve its therapeutic effects.展开更多

It explained different senses of cun in the above 4 measurements. The original meaning and the respective implication for each situation should be clarified. That acupuncture therapy can be called “Regenerative Acupuncture”, which is based upon the idea that by the unlimited and universal power of qi the process of creation can be triggered again, disabled or destroyed physiological functions of organs and tissues can be restored, and even the reconstruction and renewal of a physically disabled or destroyed organ or tissue might be possible. Regenerative Acupuncture, its point selection and its rationale are based on the ancient and modem Chinese acupuncture literature and clinical experiences of the authors. Now this acupuncture method was introduced by one case report.展开更多

Methods: Eighty patients with post-stroke spastic hemiplegia in conformity with the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups, a treatment group and a control group, 40 cases in each group. Both two groups were given treatments of routine Western medicine and rehabilitation training. Those in the treatment group were treated by puncturing antagonistic muscles, and those in the control group were given routine acupuncture treatment, to observe the changes in the scores of modified Ashworth scale (MAS), Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA) and Barthel index (BI) after treatments in the two groups. Results: After treatment, the scores of MAS, FMA and BI in the two groups were statistically different from those of the same group before the treatment (all P〈0.02). After treatment, the differences in the scores of MAS, FMA and BI were all statistically significant (P〈0.01 or P〈0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture of antagonistic muscles plus rehabilitation training is better than routine acupuncture plus rehabilitation in the treatment of post-stroke spastic hemiplegia.展开更多

Qi-effects are based upon the magnetic force released by magnetic platelets fastened onto acupoints. This property supports and proves one of the definitions of qi which says, that "qi is bio-electrical magnetism" or "qi is defined as any type of energy which is able to demonstrate power and strength. This energy can be electricity, magnetism, heat, or light". Furthermore, it is suggested to use magnet acupuncture parallel to needle acupuncture according to traditional Chinese body acupuncture rules scientifically controlled in order to carry out research on qi and qi-effects. Here it might even be possible to find a quality and even a parameter to measure the intensity of qi-effects, such as by simply measuring the possible change of the heart beat frequency (pulse frequency) before and after application of the needle or magnetic platelet. It is also possible that there is another parameter in existence which will be changed by the impact of qi and acupuncture which still needs to be detected.展开更多

Methods:...Objective: To observe different efficacies of low-frequency electroacupuncture(EA) on pancreatic endocrine system in male and female patients with simple obesity due to spleen deficiency-related dampness. Methods: A total of 80 simple obesity patients were assigned to a male group(n=37) and a female group(n=43). Both groups received a 30-minute low-frequency EA at Yinlingquan(SP 9), Sanyinjiao(SP 6), Zusanli(ST 36), Fenglong(ST 40), Quchi(LI 11), Tianshu(ST 25), Zhongwan(CV 12), Shuifen(CV 9), Qihai(CV 6) and Guanyuan(CV 4). The treatment was done once a day, and 10 times made up a course of treatment. Patients in both groups were treated for 2 courses. Then the changes in body mass index(BMI), serum insulin, insulin antibodies and leptin level in the two groups were observed and analyzed. Results: After treatment, the BMI, serum insulin, insulin antibodies and leptin levels were significantly reduced in both groups(P〈0.01 or P〈0.05); the BMI and serum insulin concentration were more significantly reduced in the male group than those in the female group(both P〈0.01); and the leptin level was more significantly reduced in the female group than that in the male group(P〈0.01). Conclusion: EA can significantly regulate BMI and pancreatic endocrine system in both men and women with simple obesity; however, there is a gender difference: better effect for men in reducing BMI and serum insulin and better effect for women in reducing serum leptin level.展开更多

Methods: A total of 82 cases who met the inclusion criteria were randomly allocated into a control group (22 cases), a short-time needle- retaining group (30 cases) and a long-time needle-retaining group (30 cases). Conventional Bobath therapy was employed in the control group while the scalp acupuncture was combined in the short-time (0.5 h) needle-retaining group and long-time (24 h) needle-retaining group. Then functional assessments were made 1 month and 3 months after treatment using FugI-Meyer motor scale {FMMS), FugI-Meyer assessment of balance (FMA-B) and modified Barthel index (MBI) score. Results: Cases in the long-time needle-retaining group obtained better effects in motor function of the limbs and activities of daily living (ADL) than the other two groups (P〈0.05). In addition, there was no statistical significance between the short-time needle-retaining group and the control group (P〉0.05). Conclusion: The needle-retaining time in scalp acupuncture is substantially associated with the effect for post-stroke hemiplegia and long-time needle-retaining is more advisable.展开更多
