The chromium coatings differed in with/without the addition of La2O3. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS), X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and microhardness tester were employed to investigate the surface morphologies, surface element distributions, microstructures, phase constitutions and microhardness of the coatings. Friction-wear tests of the P110 steel substrate and the coatings were conducted in air at ambient temperature and humidity. The results show that 'uniform and continuous coatings are formed on P110 steel regardless of adding La2O3 or not. The chromium coatings consist of Cr23C6, Cr7C3, and (Cr, Fe)7C3. The La2O3-added chromium coating is more beneficial in terms of surface morphology, microstructure, thickness and microharduess as compared with the coating without adding La2O3. Chromizing treatment significantly improves the surface hardness and wear resistance of the P110 steel. The wear resistance of the tested samples can be sorted in the following sequence: La2O3-coating 〉 no RE-coating 〉bare P110 steel.展开更多

The infiltration quality and interfacial bonding behavior were investigated by SEM, EDS, XRD and tensile tests. The results show that there is an obvious interfacial reaction layer between the alloying steel and the Ni/Al2O3 composite ceramic. The interfacial reactive products are (FexAly)3O4 intermetallic phase and (AlxCry)2O3 solid solution. The interracial bonding strength is as high as about 67.5 MPa. The bonding mechanism of X10CrNi 18-8 steel with the composite ceramic is that Ni inside the ceramic bodies dissolves into the alloy melt and transforms into liquid channels, consequently inducing the steel melt infiltrating and filling in the pores and the liquid channels. Moreover, the metallurgical bonding and interfacial reactive bonding also play a key role on the stability of the bonding interface.展开更多

The results show that the distribution of acid-soluble Al in steel substrate is uniform. With increasing Al content, the strength and toughness of steels decrease a little but the hardness increases. The average yield strength and tensile strength are 425MPa and 570MPa, respectively, and the Rockwell hardness is 89.7. For non-Al steels the average oxidation rate is up to 0.421mg/(cm2·h) at 1373K. For high Al steels, when the mass fraction of Al is less than 5%, there is a thinner gray oxidized layer on surface and the oxidation rate is high; when the mass fraction of Al is more than 8.0%, the thin, close and yellow glossing film still exists, and the average oxidation rate is only 0.016mg/(cm2·h).展开更多

At Present, China is in a speciat period of rapid economic develop- ment. Some enterprises focus on short-term profits and don't formulate long-term strategies. For example, with the rapid expansion of the steel industry, some serious problems have emerged. Based on principles of industrial ecology and the concept of circular economy, to develop a new development model, taking a new road to industrialization is very necessary. Re-examining the current steel enterprises, this' paper proposes the new methods of the integration of material, energy integration, water system integration and sharing of information and facilities. Through ecologi- calization of technology, system, and industrial structure and product structure adjustment, the eco-transformation of the modern steel industry will be gradually achieved in China展开更多

The cesium corrosion test was performed in simulated environment of high burn-up fuel pin. And main corrosion products in the specimen after the corrosion test were specified by TEM (transition electron microscopy) and SEM (scanning electron microscopy) in order to formulate a hypothesis of the cesium corrosion process. At the end of this study, it was found that the dominant factors of the corrosion process are the amount of cesium on the surface of the specimen, chromium content in the alloy, the supply rate of oxygen and temperature.展开更多

It is known that vanadium affects the process of solidification of this alloy in a way that narrows temperature interval of crystallization. Vanadium, as an alloying element, moves liquidus and solidus lines toward higher temperatures, approximately for 25 to 30 ~C. In addition, vanadium forms V6C5 carbides, which, are partly distributed between present phases in the steel; carbide (Cr,Fe)7C3 and austenite. The presence of vanadium enables the formation of (Cr, Fe)23C6 carbide and its precipitation into austenite during the cooling process. In local areas around fine carbide particles, austenite is transformed into martensite, i.e., vanadium reduces remained austenite and improves steel air-hardening. Vanadium concentration over 2.5% significantly improves the impact toughness. The basic problem in the application of high alloyed Cr-Mo steels is to increase their impact toughness and thereby sustain a relatively high value of hardness. Recent studies, concerning to the chemical composition and heat treatment regime, show that it is possible to get a martensitic structure with a very small amount of retained austenite. Investigations are directed toward the testing of the influence of alloying elements such as molybdenum, manganese and especially vanadium. Vanadium has great influence to the crystallization process. With increasing of its content, the eutectic point moves toward lower carbon concentrations and the temperature interval of solidification is narrowing.展开更多

Based on the three-dimensional steady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations and k-ε double equations turbulent model, the field flow around the wind speed sensor and the steel pole along a high-speed railway was simulated on an unstructured grid. The grid-independent validation was conducted and the accuracy of the present numerical simulation method was validated by experiments and simulations carried out by previous researchers. Results show that the steel pole has a significant influence on the measurement results of wind speed sensors. As the distance between two wind speed sensors is varied from 0.3 to 1.0 m, the impact angles are less than ±20°, it is proposed that the distance between two wind speed sensors is 0.8 m at least, and the interval between wind speed sensors and the steel pole is more than 1.0 m with the sensors located on the upstream side.展开更多

At present, most buildings in East Africa are constructed as reinforced concrete framed structures with strong masonry infill, but during design, engineers assume that the masonry infill panels have zero contribution in offering load resistance. Due to the problem above, a study with an objective of finding out the influence of masonry panels on the properties of reinforced concrete infilled frame under vertical load has been done. Three types of models: reinforced concrete frame model, masonry model and reinforced concrete frame with masonry infill, were investigated using finite element technique. In additional to the finite element analysis, laboratory models were prepared and tested so as to check the validity of the analytical results. The obtained results have led to an establishment of a mathematical model which may be useful to the design engineers since masonry wall panels can now be considered as load bearing elements. Such consideration of frame together with masonry leads to an accurate and optimal design of the frame, resulting into lesser amount of reinforcement and geometrical properties of the frame.展开更多

It is implemented in ABAQUS through a user-defined material subroutine, by which damage evolution could be incorporated into the analysis of seismic performance of steel structures. The case study taken up here is the investigation of a steel connection with a reduced beam section(RBS) and a steel frame with such connections. The material softening effect during the failure process is particularly investigated. The results show that material softening in the vulnerable zone has a significant effect on the distribution of stress and strain fields, as well as on the carrying capacity of the steel connection with RBS. Further, material softening is found to have almost negligible effect on the seismic performance of the steel frame in the early stages of the loading process, but has a large effect when the steel frame is about to fail. These findings offer a practical reference for the assessment of seismic structural failure, and help in understanding the damage mechanism of steel structures under seismic loading.展开更多
