The ball milling was employed to grind ilmenite into small particles. The carbothermic reduction was carried out to yield a high titanium slag, which would be easily purified by subsequent leaching procedure. Factors affecting the hydrochloric acid process, namely the leaching time, temperature, and acid concentration, were studied. After leaching and calcining the milled and annealed mixture of FeTiO3/C under the optimal conditions, the TiO2 nanoparticles with size of 10-200 nm and purity〉98.0% were obtained.展开更多

The mechanism of formation of ZnO and Fe3O4/FeO by the decomposition of ZnFe2O4 was detailed using the equilibrium calculations and thermodynamics analysis by HSC chemistry software 6.0. In addition, the effects of decomposition temperature, the C/ZnFe2O4 ratio, the particle size and the microwave power were assessed on the kinetics of decomposition. Zn recovery as high as 97.93%could be achieved at a decomposition temperature of 750 °C with C/ZnFe2O4 ratio of 1:3, particle size of 61-74 μm and microwave power of 1200 W. The kinetics of decomposition was tested with different kinetic models and carbon gasification control mechanism was identified to be the appropriate mechanism. The activation energy for the carbon gasification reaction was estimated to be 38.21 kJ/mol.展开更多

We propose,a novel feature selection and classification method for hyperspectral images by combining the global optimization ability of particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm and the superior classification performance of a support vector machine (SVM). Global optimal search performance of PSO is improved by using a chaotic optimization search technique. Granularity based grid search strategy is used to optimize the SVM model parameters. Parameter optimization and classification of the SVM are addressed using the training date corre-sponding to the feature subset. A false classification rate is adopted as a fitness function. Tests of feature selection and classification are carried out on a hyperspectral data set. Classification performances are also compared among different feature extraction methods commonly used today. Results indicate that this hybrid method has a higher classification accuracy and can effectively extract optimal bands. A feasible approach is provided for feature selection and classifica-tion of hyperspectral image data.展开更多

The experimental results show that the carbonaceous component of the SPL is more reactive towards chromite reduction compared to graphite. The formation of refractory spinel (MgAl2O4) on chromite particles hinders further reduction and alloy growth. The slag-making components of the SPL (e.g. nepheline and NaF) form molten slags at low temperatures (~1300℃) and partly dissolve the refractory spinel as well as the chromite. Destruction of the spinel layer with enhanced mass transfer greatly improves the alloy growth, which can be further promoted by reduction at a higher temperature (e.g. 1500℃). Ferrochrome alloy particles grow large enough at 1500℃ in the presence of SPL, allowing effective separation from the slag component using elutriation separation.展开更多

The ore collected from eastern India was characterized by XRD, WDXRF, SEM and M?ssbauer spectroscopy. The oxidation behaviour of fine ore was investigated by TG-DTA analysis under oxygen atmosphere. Subsequent isothermal oxidation experiments were carried out under oxygen and air atmospheres, holding the samples for different periods of time at different temperatures from 873 K to 1473 K. It was observed that ilmenite phase transformed to hematite and titanium dioxide at lower temperature, whereas ferric-pseudobrookite phase was found at higher temperature. Direct reduction of oxidized sample-coke cylindrical briquettes was successfully achieved for phase transition from titaniferous magnetite to iron and titanium dioxide at 1473 K.展开更多

As the first step, iron oxide reduction is studied in a fixed bed reactor using simulated coal pyrolysis gas with benzene as a model tar compound. Variables such as reduction temperature, reduction time and benzene concentration are studied. The carbon deposition of benzene results in the retarded iron reduction at low temperatures. At high temperatures over800 °C, the presence of benzene in the gas can promote iron reduction. The metallization can reach up to 99% in20 min at 900 °C in the presence of benzene. Significant increases of hydrogen and CO/CO2 ratio are observed in the gas. It is indicated that iron reduction is accompanied by the reforming and decomposition of benzene. The degree of metallization and reduction increases with the increasing benzene concentration. Iron oxide can nearly completely be converted into cementite with benzene present in the gas under the experimental conditions. No sintering is found in the reduced sample with benzene in the gas.展开更多
