The uptake capacities, and the adsorption kinetics, of copper, Cu(Ⅱ), nickel, Ni(Ⅱ), and cadmium, Cd(Ⅱ), on peat have been studied under static conditions. The results show that the adsorption rates are rapid: equilibrium is reached in twenty minutes. The adsorption of copper, nickel and cadmium is pH dependent over the pH range from 2 to 6. The adsorption kinetics can be excellently described by the Elovich kinetic equation. The adsorption isotherm fits a Langmuir model very well. The adsorption capacities follow the order Cu^2+ 〉 Ni^2+〉 Cd^2+ in single-component systems and the competitive adsorption capacities fall in the decreasing order Cu^2+ 〉 Ni^2+〉 Cd^2+ in multi-component systems. The adsorption capacities of these three heavy metal ions on peat are consistent with their observed competitive adsorption capacities. 展开更多

SalNa (sodium salinomycin) reacts with divalent transition metal ions of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) to produce novel compounds characterized by various spectroscopic methods. SalNa (sodium salinomycin) reacts with divalent transition metal ions of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) to produce novel compounds characterized by various spectroscopic methods. The interaction of metal (II) ions with SalNa results in the formation of mononuclear complexes of a general composition of [M(Sal)2·(H2O)2] nH2O (n = 0 or 2) where the divalent cations replace Na~ ions from the cavity of initial compound. The new compounds (disalinomycinates) possess an enhanced antibacterial activity against Gram-positive microorganisms as compared to both SalNa and SalH (salinomycinic acid), respectively. The metal (II) complexes manifest strong concentration dependent cytotoxic effect in experiments using human leukemia cell lines. The complexes of Co0I) and Cu(lI) proved to exert superior activity as compared to the Ni(II) and Zn(II) analogues and are much more cytotoxic than SalNa and SalH. Further studies should be conducted to determine the therapeutic indexes of the new compounds. 展开更多

The experiments were carried out to estimate adsorptivity and selectivity of three molecular weights chitosan, 3.60 × 105 (Chl), 5.97 × 105 (Ch2) and 9.47 × 105 (Ch3) g/mol, towards Cu(II), Ni(II), and Pb(II) ions in aqueous solutions. Experimental results indicated that chitosan of high molecular weight (Ch3) was the best at adsorption capacity than the others.
