Effects of ultrasonic vibration(UV)and mechanical vibration(MV)on the Mn-rich phase modification and mechanical properties of Al−12Si−4Cu−1Ni−1Mg−2Mn piston alloys were investigated.The results show that the UV and UV...Effects of ultrasonic vibration(UV)and mechanical vibration(MV)on the Mn-rich phase modification and mechanical properties of Al−12Si−4Cu−1Ni−1Mg−2Mn piston alloys were investigated.The results show that the UV and UV+MV treatments can significantly refine and fragmentize the microstructures.In addition,UV treatment can significantly passivate the primary Mn-rich Al15Mn3Si2 intermetallics.The formation mechanisms of refinement and passivation of the grains and non-dendrite particles were discussed.Compared with the gravity die-cast alloys,the UV and UV+MV treated alloys exhibit improved tensile and creep resistance at room and elevated temperatures.These results can be attributed to the refinement of theα(Al)grains and the secondary intermetallics,the increased proportion of refined heat-resistant precipitates,and the formation of nano-sized Si particles.The ultimate tensile strength of the UV treated alloys at 350℃ exceeds that of commercial piston alloys.This indicates the high application potential of the developed piston alloys in density diesel engines.展开更多
In order to understand the initial surface damage of Al piston in unsteady thermal environment like knock combustion,T6 heat treated cast Al-Si-Cu alloy was thermal shocked under different heating speeds between room ...In order to understand the initial surface damage of Al piston in unsteady thermal environment like knock combustion,T6 heat treated cast Al-Si-Cu alloy was thermal shocked under different heating speeds between room temperature and 450°C by adjusting the environmental temperature.The surface evolution was mainly characterized in view of roughness,hardness,morphology,texture,phase and element distribution.Results indicated that both the roughness and hardness went up to the maximum and then decreased with rising heating speed.Micro-structure and phase analysis suggested that the interactions of solid phase transition and oxidation with enhancing thermal stress took responsible for the surface evolution.展开更多
In order to improve the bonding strength between piston alloys and cast iron ring of aluminum piston with reinforced cast iron ring,the different methods of the surface treatments(shot blasting and sand blasting) to t...In order to improve the bonding strength between piston alloys and cast iron ring of aluminum piston with reinforced cast iron ring,the different methods of the surface treatments(shot blasting and sand blasting) to the cast iron ring are experimented.The optical micrograph shows that an intermetallic layer and a ligulate shaped structure are formed between piston alloys and cast iron base ring.After sand blasting treatment,the ring surface is non-metal shiny,matte-like and has no obvious pits.The intermetallic layer thickness formed between piston alloys and cast iron is thinner and more equally distributed after sand blasting to the ring.The content of the graphite distributed the interfacial zone after the shot blasting treatment is little.With the increase of time by sand blasting,the hardness starts to slightly descend.The bonding strength of the sample by sand blasting is obviously higher than that by shot blasting and increases from 9.32 MPa to 19.53 MPa.展开更多
