These mines show up to five different underground mining levels, developed as galleries and chambers, communicated through pits, drawing a complex network with a total known length of over 1000 m. These are some of the oldest underground mines in Europe but, contrary to the rest of the mine workings known of the same epoch, this is the only mining complex reported to date whose aim was not mining for conventional substances for the epoch such as chert, ochre or copper. The main aim of the GNMC was variscite, a green phosphate mineral similar to turquoise that can be easily cut and polished to make ornaments such as necklaces or bracelets. This paper is focused mainly on the geological mapping and examination in surface and underground exposures of the different phosphate mineralization types(stratabound and veins) and other relevant geological features such as discordances, thrusts, faults, and folds.展开更多

The results show that adding an appropriate organic reductant such as glycerol can promote the digestion of concomitant diaspore, boehmite and alumogoethite as well as the conversion of goethite to hematite in the reductive Bayer digestion. Processing Bauxite A with A/S of 25.41 can directly produce qualified iron concentrates(TFe>56%) by the reductive Bayer digestion, and thus realize the zero red mud discharge. For Bauxite B and Bauxite C with A/S of 7.82 and 3.35, the iron recoveries of 65.13% and 79.13% can be achieved with the corresponding TFe of 52.05% and 50.16% in the iron concentrates by gravity separation, respectively, resulting in the red mud discharge reduction of ~50% or above.展开更多

To maximize the flotation recovery of molybdenum, process mineralogy of raw ore, contrast tests, optimization of operation conditions and particle size analysis were systematically investigated. Process mineralogy suggests that in the raw ore, 61.63% of molybdenite particles distribute in the 〈20 pm size fraction, and intergrow with muscovite and pyrite as the contained and disseminated type. Contrast tests indicate that conventional flotation responds to poor collection efficiency for particles less than 25 pm. Oil agglomerate flotation (OAF) process demonstrates an obvious superiority in improving the flotation recovery of molybdenite fines. Furthermore, the flotation results of OAF process reveal that the dosage of transformer oil plays a critical role on the average size of collected mineral particles (d(0), agglomerates (d^0) and the molybdenum recovery. In addition, industrial tests illustrate that compared with the Mo-S bulk flotation approach, OAF process not only increases Mo recovery and grade of molybdenum concentrate by 22.75% and 17.47% respectively, but also achieves a sulfur concentrate with a superior grade of 38.92%.展开更多

The characterization studies indicate that extremely fine-sized hematite grains are associated with several other mineral phases in a complex manner with around 60% of the hematite not liberated even below the size of 38 μm limiting the scope of physical separation processes to remove the iron. Wet high intensity magnetic separation(WHIMS) studies reveal that only 49% of iron can be removed. Further, leaching studies using oxalic acid suggest that around 76% of the iron can be removed under conditions such as a solid to liquid ratio of 0.05:1, a temperature of 90 ℃ a time period of 120 min and an acid concentration of 1 mol/L. The dissolution of iron in oxalic acid is found to be controlled by chemical reaction and the activation energy is calculated as 35.15 k J/mol.展开更多

Batch experiments were carried out to determine the removal rate as a function of adsorbent dosage, solution pH value and shaking time. The results show that the maximum removal rates of Cr(Ⅵ), As(Ⅴ) and F(Ⅰ ) are respectively 99%, 99% and 90% by using the modified bauxite tailings. The isoelectric point of the unmodified bauxite tailings is 3.6, and that of the modified bauxite tailings is 5.0, which shifts to lower pH values in Cr(Ⅵ) solution. This indicates a specific adsorption of the anionic species on the modified bauxite railings. A new band of Cr2O72 appears in the FTIR, showing that Cr(Ⅵ) is adsorbed on the modified bauxite railings in the form of chemistry adsorption. The adsorption data of Cr(Ⅵ) on the modified bauxite tailings are well described by Freundlich model. The investigations of kinetic models show that pseudo-second-order kinetic model provides the best correlation for the experimental data.展开更多

The method of selective flocculation of bauxite using hydrolyzed polyacrylamide as flocculant was experimented and evaluated. The results of diaspore and kaolinite single mineral settling tests show that the difference between settlement yield of kaolinite(settling 15 min) and diaspore(settling 3 min) increases from 16% to 60% by adding flocculant at pH=7. Results of selective flocculation experiment of bauxite show that the higher concentrate grade(65.75) and Al-Si ratio(7.34) could be obtained with sodium carbonate as dispersant compared with sodium hexametaphosphate; under the action of flocculating agent, the concentrate grade and Al-Si ratio increase to 67.99 and 9.01. These results could meet the requirements of Bayer production, and the simpler process was expected to cost far less than traditional flotation method and a promising de-silication method of bauxite.展开更多

Non-first order breakage with different deceleration rates for different size intervals is found, which is most probably caused by the heterogeneity of the ore. Piecewise linearization method is proposed to describe the non-first order breakage according to its characteristics. In the method, grinding time is divided into several intervals and breakage is assumed to be first order in each interval. So, the breakage rates are calculated by taking the product of the last interval as feed and then established as a function of particle size and grinding time. Based on the predetermined breakage rate function, the breakage distribution of the ore is back-calculated from the experimental data using the population balance model (PBM). Finally, the obtained breakage parameters are validated and the simulated data are in good agreement with the experimental data. The obtained breakage distribution and the method for breakage rate description are both significant for modeling the full scale ball milling process of bauxite.展开更多

The results showed that the genesis and development of these soils and mineral weathering trends were strongly influenced by the depth of bedrock and the presence of perched water tables at lithic (limestone) interfaces due to the dissolution and buffering effect of limestone bedrock. The extractable Mg/Ca ratio as depth function and soil depth above bedrock could be used as indices of weathering and degree of soil development. Maximum iron-manganese concretion accumulation was found to occur in the horizon overlying clay horizon (>40% clay) with a sharp increase in clay content (>10%), which suggested that zones of Fe-Mn concretion accumulation in soils of the Inner Bluegrass Region appeared to be a sensitive genetic indicator of argillic horizons with restrictive permeability.展开更多

The results show that sodium hexmetaphosphate has different depression on the flotation of diaspore and kaolinite. The recoveries of diaspore decrease markedly with the increase of the concentration of sodium hexmetaphosphate with dodecyl-amine as collector. Fourier transform infrared spectra indicate that the absorbance band 875cm -1 of the asymmetric stretching vibration of bridge oxygen P—O—P shifts to 880cm -1 , and the 1264cm -1 of the asymmetric stretching vibration of the bridge PO2 shifts to 1267cm -1 in the diaspore’s spectra. This demonstrates that sodium hexmetaphosphate interacts through bridging PO2 groups with the Al atoms exposed on the diaspore and kaolinite surfaces to form P—O—Al bond. Adsorption measurements also testify that sodium hexmetaphosphate adsorbs easily on the surface of diaspore. The adsorption density of PO-3 on the surface of diaspore is about 4.7×10 -6 mol/m2, while that on the kaolinite is only about 3.5×10 -7 mol/m2 when pH value is 6.展开更多

The flotation tests of kaolinite, pyrophyllite and illite were conducted. The flotation mechanisms were explained in view of the structures of reagents and aluminium silicate minerals, zeta potential and Fourier transform infrared spectrum measurements. The results show that the synthesized r-alkoxy-propylamines are more effective than dodecyl amine for flotation of kaolinite, pyrophyllite and illite. For flotation kaolinite and illite, the collecting ability is in the order of C18H37O(CH2)3NH2>C16H33O-(CH2)3NH2>C14H29O(CH2)3NH2>C12H25O(CH2)3NH2, but the r-alkoxy-propylamines types of collectors have almost the same collecting ability on pyrophyllite, which demonstrating that γ-alkoxy-propylamines are new selective collectors for reverse floatation to remove aluminium silicate minerals from bauxite.展开更多

Direct flotation de-silication has been shown to be an effec- tive method for de-silication of diaspore. In this study the effect of different factors, including pulp tem- perature, density, pH value, depressant, and collector dosage, on direct flotation of diaspore were investigated by laboratory experiments. The optimum conditions were identified and the flotation perfor- mance was improved. The results show that under optimum conditions (a pulp temperature around 40℃, a pulp density from 30% to 33g, a pH value from 9.0 to 10.0, an air flow rate of 0.5 m3/(m2 rain), a dispersant level from 35 to 70 g/t, and a collector level around 1000 g/t) an AI/Si ratio of 6.97 is obtained starting from an initial Al/Si ratio of about 4.71. The recovery of A1203 under these conditions was 86.94%.展开更多

Firstly flotation experiments with every reagent (sodium oleate, tween-20)were carried out and it was shown that sodium oleate was an effective diaspore collector, whereas nonionic surfactant tween-20 showed little collectivity. Then experiments were carried out with sodium oleate as the main collector with the addition of tween-20 to study the influences of potentiator on diaspore flotation. It could be seen from the experiments that potentiator had a marked influence on the recovery of diaspore, which was raised by more than 12 % and that addition sequence also affected the flotation behavior. It gave the best results with the reagents mixed thoroughly before added and the best ratio of collector oleic acid and potentiator tween-20 slLood at 10: 1. From the calculation of the ingredients in the sodium oleate solution, at the pH 9, sodium oleate acted with surface of the mineral with the acid-soap polymer [ HOL ~ OL- ]. Zeta potential test showed that the potentiator promoted the absorption of collector on the mineral surface, which lowered zeta potential. As could be seen from surface tension experiments, the addition of potentiator tween-20 lowered the CMC ( critical micelle concentration) value of oleic acid solution, which was equivalent to raise the power of the agents. By the adsorptive capability tests, with the addition of tween-20, the adsorption of oleic acid on diaspore got more.展开更多

文摘Based on the elastic thin plate theory, the main law of the ore roof failure was analyzed and the formula of the ore roof thickness was deduced. The results show that the tensile stress in the roof center accounts for the roof failure.According to the limit failure conditions of the point, the formula of the ore roof thickness was derived.Taking No.10 stope of a bauxite mine as an engineering case, the optimal thickness of the ore roof was 0.36 m.The safety factor was taken as 1.3,therefore the design thickness was 0.5 m.In the whole industrial test process, the dynamic alarm devices did not start the alarm and the ore roof was not damaged.Compared with other stopes under similar conditions, its thickness was reduced by 0.1-0.3 m.The recovery rate of the ore roof was increased by 16.7%-37.5%.

文摘Most of the bauxite resources in China are kaolinite-diaspore bauxite of middle to low grade, with a fine dissemination, and are difficultly separated. The recovery of A1203 under these conditions was 86.94%.

文摘The conversion mechanism of Al-goethite under the action of different additives(lime or reductant for typical or reductive Bayer digestion)was investigated by thermodynamic calculation,XRD,and SEM-EDS.The results show that the formation of Fe-substituted hydrocalumite is crucial to converting Al-goethite to hematite during Bayer digestion by adding lime. However, the conversion proceeds more easily under the action of reductant due to the rapid formation of magnetite.Additionally,Bayer liquor composition significantly affects the product composition and also the conversion rate of Al-goethite.Compared to typical Bayer digestion with Al-goethite containing gibbsitic bauxite as raw material, the red mud yield of reductive Bayer digestion decreases from 39.02%to 31.19%,and the grade of TFe in red mud increases from 41.66%to 53.80%.

文摘The conventional collector for diaspore mineral is oleic acid (OLA), which is highly insoluble and must be used in high dosage in bauxite flotation. By the adsorptive capability tests, with the addition of tween-20, the adsorption of oleic acid on diaspore got more.
