M...Objective To observe the analgesic effect on herpes zoster treated by the comprehensive therapy of blocking, surrounding needling, pricking and cupping combined with bloodletting at Longyan (龙眼, Extra) acupoint. Methods According to the random mumber table, 104 cases of herpes zoster were randomized into an observation group and a control group, 52 cases in each one. In the observation group, the blocking method was used at the starting site and the ending site of herpetic zone, the surrounding needling method was applied toward the center of the painful zone, with horizontal needling technique; and the local pricking and cupping methods as well as the bloodletting at Longyan (Extra) acupoint were adopted. In the control group, Jiáj (夹脊 EX-B 2) at the corresponding affected nerve segments and the local Ashi points were selected and stimulated with electroacupuncture. The visual analogue scale (VAS) was adopted to determine the analgesic effect 20 min, 1, 6, 12, 24 and 48 h after treatment separately in each group. Results The onset time of analgesic effect in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group and the efficacy time of duration was longer than that in the control group (all P0.05). The analgesic effect and the result of comprehensive efficacy assessment were superior to those of the control group (both P0.05). Conclusion The comprehensive therapy of blocking, surrounding needling, pricking and cupping method combined with bloodletting at Longyan (Extra) achieves the significant analgesic effect on herpes zoster.展开更多

The model rat s of adjuvant arthritis were prepared by intradermal injection of 0.1 mL of Freund’s adjuvant complete into the metatarsal of the right posterior foot to induce inflammation.No intervention was given in Group CFA, while electroacupuncture was performed in the other three groups at 'Zúsānlǐ(足三里 ST 36, bilaterally)' and 'Huántiào(环跳 GB 30, bilaterally)' of the rats with the following electroacupuncture parameters: dilatational wave with a frequency of 2/10 Hz, an intensity of 5/10/15(0.76/1.53/2.3 mA), a duration of 30 min, and an intensity increasing every 10 min. In Group DMSO + EA, DMSO(with a concentration of 0.2%, 50μL/acupoint) was injected at bilateral 'ST 36' of the model rats one hour before electroacupuncture, while GW4869(with a concentration of 3 mg/mL,50μL/acupoint) was injected at bilateral ST 36 of the model rats one hour before electroacupuncture in Group GW4869 + EA. The paw withdrawal latency(PWL) was used as the therapeutic effect index.Results: The PWL of rats in each group at Hour 24 after modeling was significantly lower than that before modeling, indicating that the models were successfully established. After the electroacupuncture treatment, the PWL of rats showed an increasing trend in all groups. The PWL of Group GW4869 + EA(6.74 ±1.09)s was lower than that of Group EA(7.72 ±1.54)s on Day 1 after injection, but the difference was not statistically significant(P> 0.05). The PWL values of Group GW4869 + EA(7.72 ±0.70)s,(7.87 ± 0.58)s were significantly lower than those of Group EA(9.96 士 0.94)s,(9.66 ±0.96)s(both P< 0.05)on Days 2 and 3 after injection, and the differences were statistically significant.Conclusion: It was preliminarily found that acupuncture analgesic effect was significantly reduced after local exosomes of acupoints were blocked, indicating that local exosomes of acupoints may be involved in the initiation process of acupuncture effect.展开更多
Objective:To observe the effect of Anrou-pressing and kneading Hegu(LI 4)and Sanyinjiao(SP 6)on uterine inertia during painless parturition.Methods:A total of 100 cases of patients with uterine inertia during painless...Objective:To observe the effect of Anrou-pressing and kneading Hegu(LI 4)and Sanyinjiao(SP 6)on uterine inertia during painless parturition.Methods:A total of 100 cases of patients with uterine inertia during painless parturition were randomized into an acupoint group and a medicine group by the SPSS programming,with 50 cases in each group.Patients in the acupoint group received the treatment of Anrou-pressing and kneading bilateral Hegu(LI 4)and Sanyinjiao(SP 6),while patients in the medicine group received intravenous oxytocin.The labor time and maternal-child safety were evaluated,and the labor stage was compared.Results:The latent and active phases in the 1st labor stage and the 2nd labor stage in the acupoint group were substantially shorter than those in the medicine group,and the between-group comparisons showed statistical significance(all P<0.05).The between-group comparison of the 3rd labor stage showed no statistical significance(P>0.05).The postpartum hemorrhage amount in both groups was within the safe range,and the between-group comparison showed no statistical significance(P>0.05).The newborn 1 min Apgar score was ranged 8-10 points,and the between-group comparison showed no statistical significance(P>0.05).The between-group comparison of the labor stage efficacy showed statistical significance(P<0.01),with a better progression in the acupoint group.Conclusion:Anrou-pressing and kneading Hegu(LI 4)and Sanyinjiao(SP 6)is both effective and safe for uterine inertia during painless parturition.展开更多
Literatures on pain intervention with transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation(TEAS)were collected by searching the databases both in Chinese and English,and summarized to understand the research progress of TEA...Literatures on pain intervention with transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation(TEAS)were collected by searching the databases both in Chinese and English,and summarized to understand the research progress of TEAS effects on pain mediators in recent years.This will provide a more objective and scientific theoretical basis for clinical practice of TEAS to treat pain syndrome,thus promoting the clinical application of TEAS.Our literature analysis indicated that TEAS effectively regulated the release levels of various pain factors such as prostaglandin,5-hydroxytryptamine,interleukins,substance P and tumor necrosis factor-αto achieve the analgesic effects by affecting the conduction pathways.TEAS is a safe,non-invasive and effective treatment for pain syndrome.However,further research is necessary due to the lack of rigor of the current clinical trial design.展开更多

The treatment was given by puncturing Kunlun (BL 60) immediately in the incubation period of labor course in the treatment group. The control group was treated by giving intermittent oxygen inhalation. Results: Pain was relieved obviously in the treatment group, with statistical significance compared with the control group (P〈0.01). Objective:To observe the effect of moxibustion on the expression of N-methyl-D-aspartic acid(NMDA)receptor subtype 2B(NR2B)in the hippocampus of rheumatoid arthritis(RA)rats,and to explore the analgesic mechanisms of ...Objective:To observe the effect of moxibustion on the expression of N-methyl-D-aspartic acid(NMDA)receptor subtype 2B(NR2B)in the hippocampus of rheumatoid arthritis(RA)rats,and to explore the analgesic mechanisms of moxibustion in RA treatment.Methods:Sixty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into a normal group,a model group,a moxibustion group,a moxibustion+NMDA receptor antagonist(AP-5)group,and a moxibustion+NMDA receptor agonist(NMDA)group,with 12 rats in each group.Except for the normal group,rats in the other four groups were treated with complete Freund's adjuvant in a windy,cold,and damp environment to replicate RA models.Rats in the moxibustion group received suspended moxibustion with moxa sticks at Shenshu(BL23)and Zusanli(ST36),and the two points were used alternately.After intraperitoneal injection of AP-5 or NMDA,rats in the moxibustion+AP-5 group and the moxibustion+NMDA group received the same moxibustion intervention as in the moxibustion group,once a day for 15 d.The thermal withdrawal latency(TWL)of rats in each group was detected before and after modeling and after the 15-day intervention.After the 15-day intervention,hematoxylin-eosin staining was performed to observe the pathological changes in knee joints.The real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction method was used to detect the mRNA expression of NR2B in the hippocampus;Western blotting assay was used to detect the protein and the phosphorylated protein expression of hippocampal NR2B.Results:The synovial tissue was proliferated,the synovial lining was significantly thickened,the pannus was formed,and the cartilage and bone tissues were significantly damaged in the model group.After intervention,the pathological morphology of the knee joints in the moxibustion group,the moxibustion+AP-5 group,and the moxibustion+NMDA group was significantly improved,and the improvement in the moxibustion+AP-5 group was more notable than that in the moxibustion+NMDA group.Compared with the normal group,the TWL was significantly decreased(P<0.01),and the mRNA,protein,and phosphorylated protein expression levels of hippocampal NR2B were significantly increased in the model group(P<0.01).Compared with the model group,the TWL of each intervention group was significantly increased(P<0.01 or P<0.05),and the mRNA,protein,and phosphorylated protein expression levels of hippocampal NR2B were significantly decreased(P<0.01).Compared with the moxibustion group,the TWL was significantly increased(P<0.01),and the mRNA,protein,and phosphorylated protein expression levels of hippocampal NR2B were significantly decreased in the moxibustion+AP-5 group(P<0.01);the TWL was significantly decreased(P<0.01),and the mRNA,protein,and phosphorylated protein expression levels of hippocampal NR2B were significantly increased in the moxibustion+NMDA group(P<0.01).Conclusion:Moxibustion reduces hyperalgesia in RA inflammatory rats.The analgesic effect may be related to the decrease in the expression and phosphorylation levels of NR2B in the hippocampus.展开更多
Objective To examine the effect of acupuncture-like transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation(ACUTENS)on labor pain in nulliparous women.Methods This randomized clinical trial was conducted at Razi Hospital in Qazvi...Objective To examine the effect of acupuncture-like transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation(ACUTENS)on labor pain in nulliparous women.Methods This randomized clinical trial was conducted at Razi Hospital in Qazvin,Iran between January and July 2018.After the screening process,144 out of 184 pregnant women were selected by convenience sampling and assigned to an intervention group or a control group by the block randomization method.The intervention group received ACUTENS at Hegu(LI4),Shenmen(HT7),Sanyinjiao(SP6),and Neimadian(Extra)during various stages of delivery in addition to routine labor care at the delivery room.For the control group,the same routine labor care was performed alone.The severity of pain was assessed in the two groups using the visual analog scale(VAS).The data were analyzed using R software(ver.4.0.2)and repeated measurement analysis of variance.Results ACUTENS reduced the mean score of pain intensity in the first stage of labor in the intervention group more than that in the control group(P<0.001).Also,the mean scores of pain intensity in the second stage of labor,episiotomy,and one hour after delivery in the intervention group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.001).Conclusion ACUTENS at Hegu(LI4),Shenmen(HT7),Sanyinjiao(SP6),and Neimadian(Extra)can decrease the intensity of labor pain in nulliparous women.It can be used as a non-pharmacological method for reducing pain in and after labor.展开更多

Methods: A total of 120 post-surgery pa...Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupoint sticking of Chinese medicine at Shenque (CV 8) for preventing spleenstomach disharmony caused by venous analgesia pump. Methods: A total of 120 post-surgery patients using venous analgesia pump and also conforming to the inclusion criteria were randomized into 2 groups by the random number table. There were 58 patients in the control group who received conventional post-surgery nursing care, and there were 62 patients in the treatment group who received acupoint sticking at Shenque (CV 8) on the basis of conventional nursing care. After treatment, the incidences of postoperative nausea and vomiting, and abdominal bloating were measured. Results: The total incidence of nausea, vomiting and abdominal bloating in the treatment group was 11.3%, versus 39.7% in the control group, and the difference of the incidence between the two groups showed a statistical significance (P〈0.05). In comparison of the severity of spleen-stomach dishormony which happened during 72 h after surgery, cases in the treatment group showed lower severity than those in the control group (P〈0.05). Conclusion: Acupoint sticking at Shenque (CV 8) can effectively prevent spleen-stomach disharmony caused by venous analgesia pump, which will alleviate sufferings of the patients.展开更多

There were 58 patients in the control group who received conventional post-surgery nursing care, and there were 62 patients in the treatment group who received acupoint sticking at Shenque (CV 8) on the basis of conventional nursing care. After treatment, the incidences of postoperative nausea and vomiting, and abdominal bloating were measured. Results: The total incidence of nausea, vomiting and abdominal bloating in the treatment group was 11.3%, versus 39.7% in the control group, and the difference of the incidence between the two groups showed a statistical significance (P〈0.05). In comparison of the severity of spleen-stomach dishormony which happened during 72 h after surgery, cases in the treatment group showed lower severity than those in the control group (P〈0.05). Conclusion: Acupoint sticking at Shenque (CV 8) can effectively prevent spleen-stomach disharmony caused by venous analgesia pump, which will alleviate sufferings of the patients.
