It was found that the transfer resistance in the lumen of the permeate side is strongly related with geometric size of hollow fiber zeolite membrane, which could not he neglected. The effect of geometric size on pervaporation dehydration could be more significant under higher vacuum pressure in the permeate side. The transfer resistance in the lumen increases with the hollow fiber length but decreases with lumen diameter. The geometric structure could be optimized in terms of the ratio of lumen diameter to membrane length. A critical value of d1/L (Rc) to achieve high permeation flux was empirically correlated with extraction pressure in the permeate side. Typically, for a hollow fiber supported NaA zeolite membrane with length of 0.40 m, the lumen diameter should be larger than 2.0 mm under the extraction pressure of 1500 Pa.展开更多

Panicle erectness, which is selected for achieving ideal plant arehitecture in the northern part of China, has drawn increasing attention of rice breeders. Here, dense and erect panicle 2 (dep2) mutant, which shows a dense and erect panicle phenotype, was identified. DEP2 encodes a plant-specific protein without any known functional domain. Expression profiling of DEP2 revealed that it is highly expressed in young tissues, with most abundance in young panicles. Morphological and expression analysis indicated that mutation in DEP2 mainly affects the rapid elongation of rachis and primary and secondary branches, but does not impair the initiation or formation of panicle primordia. Further analysis suggests that decrease of panicle length in dep2 is caused by a defect in cell proliferation during the exponential elongation of panicle. Despite a more compact plant type in the dep2 mutant, no significant alteration in grain production was found between wild type and dep2 mutant. Therefore, the study of DEP2 not only strengthens our understanding of the molecular genetic basis of panicle architecture but also has important implications for rice breeding.展开更多

External fat-tail dimensions included upper, middle and lower width, length, length of gap, depth, upper and middle circumference recorded on 1,482 head of Lori-Bakhtiari lambs at 6 months. Of these about 311 lambs were slaughtered at the age of six months. Prediction equations were derived for fat-tail weight by multiple regression analyses with two methods. The results showed that the measure of middle circumference fat-tail was as most important measure in estimation of fat-tail weight. The measure of middle circumference fat-tail accounted for 76 percent of variation in fat-tail weight. The regression equations for predicting fat-tail weight using external fat-tail dimensions obtained from stepwise regression procedure can be estimated only with using from the lower width, length, middle circumference fat-tail and body weight with high acc, uracy (0.92). Average of fat-tail weight estimated in the age of six months in lambs was 2.39 kg. The highest regression coefficient of external fat-tail dimensions on fat-tail weight observed for the length of fat-tail (0.095 kg). Results of the present investigation showed that fat-tail weight in live sheep of Lori-Bakhtiari, could be estimated by measuring external fat-tail dimensions.展开更多

Attributions of the particle on different cross-sections were determined by the ‘overlap area method’. And unified three-dimensional Cartesian coordinate system was established based on continuous slice images. The coefficient values of spherical harmonics descriptor representing particles surface profile were gained, then each scanned particle was represented by 60×120 discrete points conformably with spherical harmonics descriptor. The chord length and direction angles were determined by the calculation. With the major axis (L) and orthogonal axis (W and T), the calculated results were compared with those measured by caliper. It is concluded that the new L, W, and T dimension measuring method is able to take the place of the present manual measurement.展开更多

(structural health monitoring), as in most cases, there may This study investigates the scattering of a zeroth-order anti-symmetric (A0) Lamb wave mode by an edge delamination using the commercial FE (finite element) package ABAQUS. The Ao Lamb mode is chosen because the corresponding stress distribution is more sensitive to delamination than is the case for symmetric modes. The paper presents results for the scatter field for various angles of incidence, and for varying defect sizes. The regime of small defect size relative to the incident wavelength is of particular interest for SHM as it corresponds to early damage detection. It is shown that, in this regime the scattered field appears to originate from a point source at the origin of the delamination, and the corresponding amplitude is linearly proportional to area of the delamination. These results can be used to guide the use of Lamb waves to detect and quantify edge delamination in plate-like structures.展开更多

The results show that the microstructure is refined and the morphology of β-Mg17A112 phase is modified with RE or Sr addition, especially with the RE+Sr composite addition which can reduce the average grain size of AZ91D alloy obviously to 141 μm. The needle-like or block-like new phases adhering to β-Mg17A112 phase form at interdendrites during solidification. The enrichment of RE or/and Sr elements in front of the solidification interface, especially at the tips of α-Mg dendrite, which restricts the growth of α-Mg dendrite, changes the preferential growth of α-Mg and finally results in the grain refinement and the blunting of α-Mg dendrite.展开更多

The average grain size increased with the increasing substrate temperature in pure argon. However, in oxygen presence environment the grain growth is limited at above 150 ℃. The films optoelectronic properties were evaluated. It was found that 200 nm ITO films prepared at 220 ℃ substrate temperature in pure argon possessed optimum sheet resistance of 10 Ω/sq. The transmittance oflTO films was enhanced with increasing the substrate temperature in pure argon but limited by the presence of excess oxygen.展开更多

Solution annealing in the AISI 304H is recommended before deformation process in order to improve ductility. However, long annealing during solution annealing can cause GG (grain growth) or AGG (abnormal grain growth) in the AISI 304H. In these cases, ductility is strongly decreased. Therefore, GG or AGG must be avoided during solution annealing. In this article, grain growth during solution annealing of the AISI 304H samples was determined. Samples of the AISI 304H were annealed at 1,100 ℃ for solution-annealing times varying from 15 min to 180 min. The results show that AGG took place for samples annealed at 1,100 ℃ for 30 min. In this condition, grain size reached 70 ± 10 μm. After annealing solution at 1,100 ℃ for 180 min, grain size reached 120 ~ 20 μm. In summary, the results shown that solution annealing at 1,100 ℃ even for relatively short annealing promotes the prompt increase of the grain size.展开更多
