This paper deals with the vertical vibration, the horizontal translatory and flexural vibrations of plate gate with a flat bottom under the action of unstable submerged underflow. Based on a non linear resonant oscillator model by which the coupled excitation mechanism between the unstable vortices and gate motion can be simulated, the differential equations for the three types of gate vibrations are established. The parameters in the equations are determined by model experiments. Then, the steady state non linear responses of the three types of gate vibrations are calculated. The calculation results are in good agreement with the experimental data of gate vibrations with different reduced velocity and gate parameters by previous researchers. 展开更多

Furthermore, the activation func- tions in the neural networks can be different type. Based on the drive-response concept and the Lyapunov stability theorem, some sufficient criteria are obtained to guarantee the global synchronization of the considered models even when input sector nonlinearity caused by physical limitations is presented in response systems. Establishing models of portal vein occlusion and evaluating value of multi-slice CT in hepatic VX2 tumor in rabbits

AIM: To establish models of portal vein occlusion of hepatic VX2 tumor in rabbits and to evaluate the value of multi-slice CT. METHODS: Forty New Zealand rabbits were divided into 4 groups according to digital table: Immediate group (group A; transplantation of tumor immediately after the portal vein occlusion), 3-wk group (group B; transplantation of tumor at 3 wk after the portal vein occlusion), negative control group (group C) and positive control group (group D), 10 rabbits in each group. Hepatic VX2 tumor was transplanted with abdominalembedding innoculation immediately after the portal vein occlusion and at 3 wk after the portal vein occlusion. Meanwhile, they were divided into negative control group (Left external branch of portal vein was occluded by sham-operation, and left exite was embedded and inoculated pseudoly) and positive control group (Transplanted tumor did not suffer from the portal vein occlusion). All rabbits were scanned with multi-slice CT. RESULTS: All 40 animals were employed in the final analysis without death. Tumor did not grow in both immediate group and 3-wk group. In 3-wk group, left endite was atrophied and growth of tumor was inhibited. The maximal diameter of tumor was significantly smaller than that in positive control group (2.55±0.46 vs 3.59±0.37 cm, t = 5.57, P 〈 0.001). Incidences of metastasis in the liver and lung were lower in 3-wk group than those in positive control group (10% vs 400, and 90% vs 100%, respectively). The expression intensities of the vascular endothelium growth factor (VEGF) in groups A, B, C and D were 0.10±0.06, 0.66±0.21, 0.28±0.09 and 1.48±0.32, respectively. VEGF expression level in the test group A was significantly lower than that in the negative control group C (t = 5.07; P 〈 0.001).In addition, VEGF expression in the test group B was significantly lower than that in the positive control group D (t = 6.38; P 〈 0.001). Scanning with multi-slice CT showed that displaying rate of hepatic artery branches was obviously lower in grade Ⅲ(40%) than that in grade Ⅰ(70%) and Ⅱ(100%) (P 〈 0.05); but there was no significant difference in displaying rate of the portal vein at various grades. Values of blood flow (BF) of the liver, blood volume (BV), mean transit time (MTT) and permeability of vascular surface (PS) were lower in the immediate group and 3-wk group than those in control groups, but values of hepatic arterial fraction (HAF) were increased. Significant positive correlations were existed between BF and BV (r = 0.905, P 〈 0.01), and between BF and PS (r = 0.967, P 〈 0.01), between BV and PS (r = 0.889, P 〈 0.01). A significant negative correlation existed between PV and HAF (r = -0.768, P 〈 0.01), between PS and HAF (r = -0.557, P 〈 0.01). The values of BF, BV and PS had a positive correlation with VEGF (rBF = 0.842, rBV = 0.579, rPS = 0.811, P 〈 0.01) . However, there was no significant correlation between the values of MTT and HAF and the VEGF expression (rMTt = 0.066, rHAF = -0.027). CONCLUSION: Ligating the left external branch of portal vein is an ideal way to establish models of portal vein occlusion in rabbits with hepatic VX2 tumor. Multi slice CT plays a key role in evaluating effect of portal vein occlusion. 展开更多

The Cheng-Lan railway links Chengdu, a central city in Southwestern China, and Lanzhou, a central city in Northwestern China. The railway passes through the Longmenshan fault zone (Wenchuan earthquake happened there on May 12, 2008), Minjiang fault zone, and Dongkunlun fault zone, which are all active. It runs over the Yangtze River and the Yellow River, and crosses high mountains and deep valleys. There exists, along the railway's alignment, different kinds of strata of hard granite and soft, weak metamorphic rocks such as carbonaceous slate, schist, and phyllite. It is, therefore, a key issue for such an infrastructure construction to assess the engineering geological conditions and risks, so as to mitigate or avoid possible georisks and to offer optional designs. Geological survey and georisk assessment along the railway corridor are carried out. Special attention is given to active faults, earthquakes and seismic zones. Based on these, discussions about geological aspects for route selection of the railway are conducted and countermeasures for georisk control are proposed accordingly. Main conclusions are achieved as follows: (1) Geohazards such as landslides, rockfalls and debries flows dominate both the route selection of the railway and the engineering structures (e.g., tunnels or bridges) adopted; (2) Tunnel has been proved to be an excellent structure for linear engineering in geologically active area; and (3) In the case where avoiding is impractical, necessary protection measures should be taken to engineering slopes in high earthquake intensity areas, especially the area with earthquake of Ms. 8 or greater. 展开更多

Objective: The aim of this work was to quantify the extent of set-up errors to conduct a quality assurance (QA) aspect of treatment delivery, verification of the treatment field's position on different days using electronic portal. Methods: This study was carried out on 12 patients, treated for pelvis tumor; and total of 240 images obtained by electronic portal image device (EPID) were analyzed. The EPIs acquire using EPID attached to the Siemens linear accelerator. The anatomy match- ing software (Theraview) was used and displacement in two dimensions were noted for each treatment field to study patient setup errors. Results: The percentages of mean deviations less than 5 mm in X direction were 65% & 92%, from 5-10 mm were 31% & 19% and more than 10 mm were 11% & 9% forNP and lateral direction respectively. The percentages of mean deviations less than 5 mm in Y direction were 65% & 63%, from 5-10 mm were 33% & 28% and more than 10 mm were 22% & 29%. The mean deviations in 2D-vector errors were 〈 5 mm in 47% and 46%, 5-10 mm in 36% and 37% and 〉 10 mm in 37% and 37% of images in the NP and lateral direction respectively. Conclusion: The results revealed that the ranges of set up errors are immobilization method to improve reproducibility. The observed variations were not within the limits.. 展开更多

A new double-arch structure for the gate used as tidal barrage and sluice was adopted in Caoe River Dam in China. It was a spatial structure made up of the right arch, the invert arch, the chord, etc., and was designed to bear bilateral loads. To research the cyclic behavior of the new double-arch structure, a scale-model cyclic test was conducted. First, the test setup and test method were presented in detail, and according to the test results, the cyclic behavior and failure characteristics of this structure were discussed. Then by analyzing the test cyclic envelope curve, it was found the curve was divided into three stages: the elastic stage, the local plastic stage and the failure stage at the local yield point and structural yield point. The gate model has local yield strength and structural yield strength, with both their values being bigger than that of the designing load. Therefore, the gate is safe enough for the projects. At last, dynamic property of the gate was analyzed considering additional mass of the water. It was found that the tidal bore shock would not cause resonance vibration of the gate. 展开更多

AIM: To assess the ability of ^18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computer tomography (^18F-FDG PET/CT) to differentiate between benign and malignant portal vein thrombosis in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients.METHODS: Five consecutive patients who had HBV cirrhosis, biopsy-proven HCC, and thrombosis of the main portal vein and/or left/right portal vein on ultrasound (US), computer tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were studied with ^18F-FDG PET/CT. The presence or absence of a highly metabolic thrombus on ^18F-FDG PET/CT was considered diagnostic for malignant or benign portal vein thrombosis, respectively. All patients were followed-up monthly with US, CT or MRI. Shrinkage of the thrombus or recanalization of the vessels on US, CT or MRI during follow-up was considered to be definitive evidence of the benign nature of the thrombosis, whereas enlargement of the thrombus, disruption of the vessel wall, and parenchymal infiltration over follow-up were considered to be consistent with malignancy. ^18SF-FDG PET/CT, and US, CT or MRI results were compared.RESULTS: Follow-up (1 to 10 mo) showed signs of malignant thrombosis in 4 of the 5 patients. US, CT or MRI produced a true-positive result for malignancy in 4 of the patients, and a false-positive result in 1. ^18F-FDG PET/CT showed a highly metabolic thrombus in 4 of the 5 patients. ^18F-FDG PET/CT achieved a true-positive result in all 4 of these patients, and a true-negative result in the other patient. No false-positive result was observed using ^18F-FDG PET/CT.CONCLUSION: ^18F-FDG PET/CT may be helpful in discriminating between benign and malignant portal vein thrombi.
