Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis evolve with a relapsing and remitting course.Determination of inflammatory state is crucial for the assessment of disease activity and for tailoring therapy.However,no simple diagnostic test for monitoring intestinal inflammation is available.Noninvasive markers give only indirect assessments of disease activity.Histopathological or endoscopical examinations accurately assess inflammatory activity,but they are invasive,time consuming and expensive and therefore are unsuitable for routine use.Imaging procedures are not applicable for ulcerative colitis.The usefulness of ultrasound and Doppler imag-ing in assessing disease activity is still a matter of discussion for Crohn's disease,and an increased interest in computed tomography enterograph (CTE) has been seen,mainly because it can delineate the extent and severity of bowel wall inflammation,besides detecting extraluminal findings.Until now,the available data concerning the accuracy of magnetic resonance enterography in detecting disease activity is less than CTE.Due to this,clinical activity indices are still commonly used for both diseases. 展开更多

In this paper, we introduce a novel method named chemiluminescence mediated sono dynamic diagnosis (SDD), which is designed as follows: sonosensitizer is used to localize the cancer tissue, and is sonosensitized by the ultra- sound field to produce oxygen free radicals. Then, another agent, FCLA (fluoresceinyl cypridina luciferin analog), re-acts with 1O2 to efficiently transform the chemical energy of 1O2 to photons, thus a strong chemiluminescence is emitted. One can then detect this emission with a high sensitive CCD imaging system to localize the tumor. Based on the principle of chemiluminescence mediated SDD, we obtained a clear diagnostic image of a transplanted tumor in a nude mouse in the experiments. This method could have potential applica-tions in clinics for early stage tumor diagnosis. 展开更多

Glass-forming ability is a long-standing concern in the field of metallic glasses(MGs),which greatly limits their maximum casting size and extensive applications.In this work,we report an ultrasonic-assisted rapid cold welding of bulk MGs without using any additives.MGs with various compositions are welded together under a 20,000-Hz highfrequency ultrasonic vibration without losing their amorphous nature.The ultrasonic technology offers the advantages of rapid bonding(<1 s)at low temperature(near room temperature)and low stress(<1 MPa).According to the phenomenon observed in the experiment,the activated fresh atoms diffuse through the broken channel port under continuous rupture of the oxide layer,and the ultrasonic vibration accelerates the atomic-diffusion process.Finally,stable bonding of the MG interface is realized.This universal ultrasonic-assisted welding process can realize the composition design of dissimilar MGs as well as tuning of new materials with new performance. 展开更多
