5-aminosalicylate(5-ASA)agents remain the mainstay treatment in ulcerative colitis(UC).A number of oral 5-ASA agents are commercially available,including azobond pro-drugs,as well as delayed-and controlledrelease form... 5-aminosalicylate(5-ASA)agents remain the mainstay treatment in ulcerative colitis(UC).A number of oral 5-ASA agents are commercially available,including azobond pro-drugs,as well as delayed-and controlledrelease forms of mesalazine.However,poor adherence due to frequent daily dosing and a large number of tablets has been shown to be an important barrier to successful management of patients with UC.Recently, new,once-daily formulations of mesalazine,including the unique multi-matrix delivery system and mesalazine granules,were proven to be efficacious in inducing and maintaining remission in mild-to-moderate UC,with a good safety profile comparable to that of other oral mesalazine formulations.In addition,they offer the advantage of a low pill burden and might contribute to increased long-term compliance and treatment success in clinical practice.This editorial summarizes the available literature on the short-and medium-term efficacy and safety of the new once-daily mesalazine formulations. 展开更多

It has been used effectively in an estimated 17,000 commercial buildings in the United States-ranging from offices to schools, and airport terminals. At present there exist two main types of solar houses, "house collector" and "wall collector". A part of researchers find that the use of"house collector" is more simple and efficient. The other part is sure that "wall collector" is more convenient to use and it has higher efficiency. But our analysis show that in existing literature there is not any method for evaluating efficiency of solar houses. Moreover, there is not in. use a concept on solar houses efficiency. To us each type of solar houses has its own advantages and disadvantages. In this paper solar passive "House-Collector" heating modes of houses and their efficiency are discussed. For calculation of designing parameters of solar houses a simplified method is presented, taking into consideration both the heat gains and heat losses. 展开更多

An efficient surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS) substrate is developed based on silver nanoparticles decorated anodic aluminum oxide(Ag/AAO).The AAO templates were fabricated using a two-step anodization approach,and silver nanoparticles(Ag NPs) were obtained by thermal decomposition of Ag nitrate in AAO.The structure of Ag/AAO hybrid substrate is characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The results show that the as-prepared SERS substrates consist of high-density Ag NPs with sizes of tens of nanometers.The Ag NPs are adsorbed on the surface of AAO template in the form of network structure which is called "hot spot".The SERS enhancement ability of the nanostructure is verified using thiram as probing molecules.The limit of detection is as low as 1×10-9 mol/L.The results indicate that the as-prepared substrate possesses excellent SERS sensitivity,high stability and uniformity enhancement. 展开更多

TI(I) in water even at a trace level is fatal to human beings and the ecosystem. Here we fabricated a new polymer-supported nanocomposite (HMO-001) for efficient TI(I) removal by encapsulating nanosized hydrous manganese dioxide (HMO) within a polystyrene cation exchanger (D-001). The resultant HMO-001 exhibited more preferable removal of TI(I) than D-001 and IRC-748, an iminodiacetic chelating polymer, particularly in the presence of competing Ca(II) ions at greater levels in solution. Such preference was ascribed to the Donnan membrane effect caused by D-001 as well as the specific interaction between TI(I) and HMO. The adsorbed TI(I) was partially oxidized into insoluble TI(III) by HMO at acidic pH, while negligible oxidation was observed at circumneutral pH. The exhausted HMO-001 was amenable to efficient regeneration by binary NaOH-NaC10 solution for at least 10-cycle batch runs without any significant capacity loss. Fixed-bed column test of Tl(I)-contained indus- trial effluent and natural water further validated that TI(I) retention on HMO-001 resulted in a conspicuous concentration drop from 1.3 mg/L to a value lower than 0.14 mg/L (maximum concentration level for industrial effluent regulated by US EPA) and from 1-4 μg/L to a value lower than 0.1 μg/L (drinking water standard regulated by China Health Ministry), respectively. 展开更多
