However, conventional estimation methods, which are mostly based on wave velocity, are not suitable for real complex media because of limited resolution. Impedance inversion uses the reflection coefficient of radar waves to directly calculate GPR impedance and other parameters of subsurface media. We construct a 3D multiscale stochastic medium model and use the mixed Gaussian and exponential autocorrelation function to describe the distribution of parameters in real subsurface media. We introduce an elliptical Gaussian function to describe local random anomalies. The tapering function is also introduced to reduce calculation errors caused by the numerical simulation of discrete grids. We derive the impedance inversion workflow and test the calculation precision in complex media. Finally, we use impedance inversion to process GPR field data in a polluted site in Mongolia. The inversion results were constrained using borehole data and validated by resistivity data.展开更多

Modern reflectivity inversion methods(e.g., sparsity-constrained deconvolution) generally attempt to suppress the problems associated with the first two assumptions but often ignore that seismic traces are nonstationary signals, which undermines the basic assumption of unchanging wavelet in reflectivity inversion. Through tests on reflectivity series, we confirm the effects of nonstationarity on reflectivity estimation and the loss of significant information, especially in deep layers. To overcome the problems caused by nonstationarity, we propose a nonstationary convolutional model, and then use the attenuation curve in log spectra to detect and correct the influences of nonstationarity. We use Gabor deconvolution to handle nonstationarity and sparsity-constrained deconvolution to separating reflectivity and wavelet. The combination of the two deconvolution methods effectively handles nonstationarity and greatly reduces the problems associated with the unreasonable assumptions regarding reflectivity and wavelet. Using marine seismic data, we show that correcting nonstationarity helps recover subtle reflectivity information and enhances the characterization of details with respect to the geological record.展开更多

The passive UHF RFID transponder with complex impedances is powered by received RF energy. The approach uses the parasitic inductance of the antenna to implement ASK modulation by adjusting the capacitive reactance of the matching network, which changes with the backscatter circuit. The impedance matching achieves maximum power transfer between the reader, antenna, and transponder. The transponder IC,whose operating distance is more than 4m with the impedance matching approach,is fabricated using a Chartered 0.35μm two-poly four-metal CMOS process that supports Schottky diodes and EEPROM.展开更多

Reverse-time migration is considered to be one of highly accurate methods. In this paper, we propose a new non-reflecting recursive algorithm for reverse-time migration by introducing the wave impedance function into the acoustic wave equation and the algorithm for the surface relief case is derived from the coordinate transformation principle. Using the exploding reflector principle and the zero-time imaging condition of poststack reverse- time migration, poststack numerical simulation and reverse-time migration with complex conditions can be realized. The results of synthetic and real data calculations show that the method effectively suppresses unwanted internal reflections and also deals with the seismic imaging problems resulting from surface relief. So, we prove that this method has strong adaptability and practicality.展开更多

Conventional inversion methods based on this equation can only extract P-velocity, S-velocity, and density data directly and the elastic impedance at different incidence angles are not at the same scale, which makes comparison difficult. We propose a new elastic impedance equation based on the Gray et al. (1999) Zoeppritz approximation using Lamé parameters to address the conventional inversion method's deficiencies. This equation has been normalized to unify the elastic impedance dimensions at different angles and used for inversion. Lamé parameters can be extracted directly from the elastic impedance data obtained from inversion using the linear relation between Lamé parameters and elastic impedance. The application example shows that the elastic parameters extracted using this new method are more stable and correct and can recover the reservoir information very well. The new method is an improvement on the conventional method based on Connolly's equation.展开更多

Accordingly, all logging curves need to be normalized in the mining area. By studying well-logging normalization methods, and focusing on the characteristics of the coalfield, the frequency histogram method was used in accordance with the condition of the Guqiao Coal Mine. In this way, the density and sonic velocity at marker bed in the non-key well were made to close to those in the key well, and were eventually equal. Well log normalization was completed when this method was applied to the entire logging curves. The results show that the scales of logging data were unified by normalizing coal logging curves, and the logging data were consistent with wave impedance inversion data. A satisfactory inversion effect was obtained.展开更多

The most often used inversion methods are Constrained Sparse Spike Inversion (CSSI), Artificial Neural Network Inversion (ANN) and GR Pseudo-impedance Inversion. Through the application of a variety of inversion methods with log curves correction, we obtained relatively high-resolution impedance and velocity sections, effectively identifying the lithology of Permian igneous rocks and inferred lateral variation in the lithology of igneous rocks. By means of a comprehensive comparative study, we arrived at the following conclusions: the CSSI inversion has good waveform continuity, and the ANN inversion has lower resolution than the CSSI inversion. The inversion results show that multi-parameter seismic inversion methods are an effective solution to the identification of igneous rocks.展开更多

During inversion, except for the wavelet phase, all other factors affecting inversion results are not taken into account. The inversion results of a sparse reflectivity model (or blocky impedance model) show that: (1) although the synthetic data using inversion results matches well with the original seismic data, the inverted reflectivity and acoustic impedance are different from that of the real model. (2) the inversion result reliability is dependent on the estimated wavelet Z transform root distribution. When the estimated wavelet Z transform roots only differ from that of the real wavelet near the unit circle, the inverted reflectivity and impedance are usually consistent with the real model; (3) although the synthetic data matches well with the original data and the Cauchy norm (or modified Cauchy norm) with a constant damping parameter has been optimized, the inverted results are still greatly different from the real model. Finally, we suggest using the L1 norm, Kurtosis, variation, Cauchy norm with adaptive damping parameter or/and modified Cauchy norm with adaptive damping parameter as evaluation criteria to reduce the bad influence of inaccurate wavelet phase estimation and obtain good results in theory.展开更多
