An optimized design of the monolithic switched capacitor DC-DC converter is presented.The general topologic circuit and its basic operating principles are discussed theoretically.Circuit equivalent resistance regulation method is proposed as a feasible method to design the on-chip converters.N-channel MOSFETs,instead of Schottky diodes,are used as the diodes in the converters because of their processing compatibility in monolithic fabrication.One more manufacture step,however,is expected to adjust the threshold voltage of the MOSFETs for improving output characteristics of the converters.As an example,a step-up switched-capacitor converter is fabricated in a 2μm p-well double-poly single-metal CMOS technology with breakdown voltage of 15V.Test results indicate that a single sampling cell with 0.4mm 2 of die size can deliver energy up to 0.63mW at 5V output under the condition of 3V input.Efficiency of the tested sample is 68% at 9.8MHz switching frequency... 展开更多

Biological Characteristics of Serum Agglutinin from Portunus trituberculatus

The agglutination characteristics of serum agglutinin from Portunus trituberculatus were studied in this paper. The results showed that the serum agglutinin had no agglutination to crucian carp, Chinese soft shell turtle, grass carp, chicken or human group A, B or O blood cells, but had strong agglutination to blood cells of mice and rabbits. The activities of serum agglutinin from Portunus trituberculatus to mice blood cells reached 210, and to rabbit blood cells reached 28. Salinity had a greater effect on agglutinin activity. When the Na Cl concentration exceeded 0.6 mol/L,the serum agglutinin from Portunus trituberculatus was basically inactivated. The optimum p H for agglutinin activity was 6.0-7.4. The serum agglutinin from Portunus trituberculatus had obvious dependence to Ca2 +and Mg2 +, and EDTA could significantly inhibit its activity. The results of sugar inhibition test showed that the activity of agglutinin from Portunus trituberculatus can be specifically inhibited by N-acetylglucosamine and N-acetylmannosamine. The serum agglutinin from Portunus trituberculatus was isolated by ammonium sulfate gradient precipitation, and its activity was highest by the 25% ammonium sulfate precipitation system. The SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(SDS-PAGE) showed that the protein bands were mainly distributed within 72-95 ku. 展开更多

Due to the environmental impact of energy usage and increased price of fusel fuel, consumers need to be encouraged to use renewable energy sources. The IHICSSWHS (indirect heating integrated collector storage solar water heater system) is one of the most economical systems. It incorporates the collection of a solar energy component and a hot water storage component in one unit. The objective of this study was to investigate ways to enhance the thermal performance of the system. Two configurations of the system were studied: system with double row HX (heat exchanger) and tube length of 16.2 m, and system with single row HX and tube length of 8.1 m and 10.8 m. The service water tube inside diameter was also varied to 10.7 mm and 17.1 mm The steady state continuity, momentum and energy equations were numerically solved, using FLUENT software. A standard k-w turbulent model and surface-to-surface radiation model were used. The result showed that the system of 10.8 m tube length and single row HX provided higher outlet temperature than the system of 16.2 m and double row HX. Therefore, a significant reduction in cost and power usage can be achieved by using a single row HX. 展开更多

Ventilation characteristic parameters are the base of ventilation network solution; however, they are apt to be affected by operating errors, reading errors, airflow stability, and other factors, and it is difficult to obtain accurate results. In order to check the ventilation characteristic parameters of mines more accurately, the integrated method of circuit and path is adopted to overcome the drawbacks caused by the traditional path method or circuit method in the digital debugging process of ventilation system, which can improve the large local error or the inconsistency between the airflow direction and the actual situation caused by inaccuracy of the ventilation characteristic parameters or checking in the ventilation network solution. The results show that this method can effectively reduce the local error and prevent the pseudo-airflow reversal phenomenon; in addition, the solution results are consistent with the actual situation of mines, and the effect is obvious. 展开更多

This work aims at finding pedestrian walking characteristics at U-type stairs according to the width change of stairs and appropriate spot for installing piezoelectric energy harvesting.The number of pedestrian at two kinds of stairs(one is stairs with 1.5 m in width and the other is stairs with 3 m in width) was estimated by calculating the number of steps on the stairs by a zone which is divided into 30 cm×30 cm.The result shows high density in the middle in the case of narrow stairs but traffic is concentrated on stair inside(pillar side) in stairs with large width.In conclusion,the location for installation of piezoelectric energy harvesting system should be considered differently on stairs width and the number of installation depends on total expected traffic and the expected traffic for a device. 展开更多

The purpose of this study is to use magnetic field of 50/60 Hz up to 0.2 mT for energy source. This paper focuses on magnetic energy harvesting from electrical appliances which can be also used for power consumption monitoring. The magnetic energy harvesting device consists of an energy harvesting module, Cockcroft-Walton circuit and storage capacitor. First of all, typical magnetic fields around several electrical appliances are investigated. In order to harvest 10 mJ energy, the shape of magnetic flux concentration flange in energy harvesting module and number of steps in Cockcroft-Walton circuit are considered. From experimental results, magnetic energy harvesting of 17 mJ from a refrigerator is successfully demonstrated. 展开更多

The design process for integrated inductors generally requires a geometry optimization step. During this step, many geometries must be simulated and fast and accurate formulae are therefore required for the computation of self and mutual inductances of turns. This paper especially deals with numerical evaluation of the mutual inductance of two coaxial circular wire loops. Several computation methods are presented and compared. Finally, an expression is built-up and proven to be very few computing time consuming and 1% accurate for any kind of geometry. The application of this expression to integrated inductive components modelization is recalled to mind, however, this work gives a general and fast computable solution to the electromagnetic problem. 展开更多

A Monolithic integrated phase locked-loop (PLL) with a low phase noise is proposed in this paper. Several techniques are utilized to improve the performance of the PLL which works at the milli- meter-wave band. The on-chip high-Q eoplanar waveguides (CPWs) are utilized in the resonant tank and the differential current amplifier with a resonator is used to realize the VCO. In the output buffer circuit, several stages of cascaded source-followers connect and differential amplifiers are adopted to improve the driving capability of the PLL' s output signals. An improved analog multiplier topology is also used in the PD circuit to improve the gain of the PD. The proposed PLL is realized with a 0.2p, m GaAs pseudomorphie high electron mobility transistor (PHEMT) process. At 10 kHz offset from the center frequency, the measured output phase noise of the PLL output is only -88.83dBc/Hz. The circuit exhibits a low root mean sauare (RMS) litter of 1.68Ds. 展开更多

The proposed circuit integrates an array of 4 × 4 (16 pixels) of 19μm × 19μm electrodes,a counter electrode, a current mode preamplifier circuit (CMPA) ,a digital decoding circuit,and control logics on a single chip, It provides a - 1.6- 1.6V range of assembly voltage,Sbit potential resolution, and a current gain of 39.8dB with supply voltage of 1.8V. The offset and noise are smaller than 5.9nA and 25.3pArms,respectively. Experimental resuits from on-chip selective assembly of 30nm poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG) coated magnetic nano-particles (MNPs) targeted at biosensor applications are included and discussed to verify the feasibility of the proposed circuits. 展开更多

Piezoelectric energy harvesting is widely used to scavenge vibration energy in the environment.For some vibration sources with fixed frequency,cantilevered harvester can generate the energy effectively,so the optimization theory for cantilevered harvester in such an application is needed.In this article,we present the theoretical and experimental studies of the cantilevered piezoelectric energy harvester with a fixed resonance frequency.An analytical model based on energy method is used to estimate the open-circuit voltage and generated energy.Considering that the harvester may be subjected to the static force or steady-state sinusoidal vibration excitation,static and dynamic analysis is performed for device structure to achieve efficient energy.In the analysis,the effects of geometrical dimension on the energy harvesting performance are discussed comprehensively.Eventually,a prototype is designed and fabricated using(1-x)Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-xPbTiO3(PMN-PT)single crystal with ultrahigh piezoelectric properties and coupling factor.Performances of the cantilever with different clamped length are evaluated under sinusoidal vibration excitation,proving the good consistency between experimental results and theoretical prediction.The established analysis can provide useful guidelines for the structure design of cantilevered piezoelectric energy harvester with a fixed resonance frequency. 展开更多

We provide an overview of our recent work on developing wavelength selective SWG waveguide filters based on Bragg gratings and ring resonators, as well as optical delay lines.
