Collective unidirectional motion of an asymmetrically coupled array of oscillators in symmetric periodic potentials is studied. A directed current is observed when the drift coupling is presented, while no external biased force is applied. Negative directed current is found when varying system parameters. An addition of a periodic rocking force may enhance the efficiency of directed transport. Resonant steps of the current are found and interpreted as the mode locking between the array and the ac force. Noise-assisted transport is observed, and an optimal noise intensity can give rise to a most efficient transport. The directed transport thus can be optimized and furthermore controlled by suitably adjusting the parameters of the system. 展开更多

During screening operation, blinding or clogging of screen perforations generally occurs to reduce the sieving capacity and efficiency. Recently, the flip-flow screening has been widely recognized as a feasible method to deal with the problem. In this paper, a novel centralized-driving flip-flow screen(CFS) was developed for the separation of fine and moist coal, and the key structures, namely, a centralized-driving mechanism and a quasi-circle beam mounted with the mat were designed for high reliability and stability. By means of a test on an experimental prototype, the effect of some factors, i.e., initial stretch and hardness of the polyurethane panel, respectively, and the rotation speed of the driving motor on the kinematic characteristic of the screen surface was investigated. Results show that without an initial stretch, the sieve mat generates the largest vibratory amplitude while the slacker the sieve mat initially is, the smaller amplitude it will accomplish. And an increase in the rotation speed could cause a rise in the vibratory amplitude. Unlike the two factors, the hardness does not have a definite effect on the kinematic performance, on which a further study is required. Finally, screening processing on a laboratory prototype was conducted to draw the conclusion that the developed CFS also has a high sieving efficiency for the fine and moist coal. 展开更多

The movement of the wood skidding means on the natural ground causes damages in the soil and in the remaining stand, the size of which depends on the kind, the resistance and the soil conditions, from the size and movements frequency on the machines as well as from the length of the skidding wood. This study was carried out in a productive forest of Greece, the resistance of the soil in connection with the moisture and the category of the native stone, the pressure that tires of tractors exert in the soil, are estimated. It also estimated the percentage of the trees in the remaining stand which suffer damages from the movement of various means. The above means are used for the skidding of wood of different lengths. According to the results of the research some measures are suggested so as to decrease the damages, which are caused in the soil and in the remaining stand. 展开更多
