An algorithm integrating reduced order model(ROM),equivalent linearization(EL),and finite element method(FEM)is proposed to carry out geometrically nonlinear random vibration analysis of stiffened plates under acousti...An algorithm integrating reduced order model(ROM),equivalent linearization(EL),and finite element method(FEM)is proposed to carry out geometrically nonlinear random vibration analysis of stiffened plates under acoustic pressure loading.Based on large deflection finite element formulation,the nonlinear equations of motion of stiffened plates are obtained.To reduce the computation,a reduced order model of the structures is established.Then the EL technique is incorporated into FE software NASTRAN by the direct matrix abstraction program(DMAP).For the stiffened plates,a finite element model of beam and plate assembly is established,in which the nodes of beam elements are shared with shell elements,and the offset and section properties of the beam are set.The presented method can capture the root-mean-square(RMS) of the stress responses of shell and beam elements of stiffened plates,and analyze the stress distribution of the stiffened surface and the unstiffened surface,respectively.Finally,the statistical dynamic response results obtained by linear and EL methods are compared.It is shown that the proposed method can be used to analyze the geometrically nonlinear random responses of stiffened plates.The geometric nonlinearity plays an important role in the vibration response of stiffened plates,particularly at high acoustic pressure loading.展开更多
The determination of the dynamic load is one of the indispensable technologies for structure design and health monitoring for aerospace vehicles.However,it is a significant challenge to measure the external excitation...The determination of the dynamic load is one of the indispensable technologies for structure design and health monitoring for aerospace vehicles.However,it is a significant challenge to measure the external excitation directly.By contrast,the technique of dynamic load identification based on the dynamic model and the response information is a feasible access to obtain the dynamic load indirectly.Furthermore,there are multi-source uncertainties which cannot be neglected for complex systems in the load identification process,especially for aerospace vehicles.In this paper,recent developments in the dynamic load identification field for aerospace vehicles considering multi-source uncertainties are reviewed,including the deterministic dynamic load identification and uncertain dynamic load identification.The inversion methods with different principles of concentrated and distributed loads,and the quantification and propagation analysis for multi-source uncertainties are discussed.Eventually,several possibilities remaining to be explored are illustrated in brief.展开更多

In this paper a method for calculating the forces on coupling, e-motor, crank sha...During the start-up and shut-down phase of reciprocating compressors, the loads on all components of driven train system are very high. In this paper a method for calculating the forces on coupling, e-motor, crank shaft as well other components of the system will be described. The modelling of the electrical induction motor, coupling, crank shaft, damper as well as the compressor resistance torque are extremely important in simulating start-up and shut-down of reciprocating compressor. Furthermore the switching torque of the electrical motor and the instantaneous moment of inertia of the reciprocating compressor crank gear are important as well. The transient start-up and shut-down process under loaded and unloaded conditions is described using a non-linear differential equation for driven train system: E-motor--coupling--flywheel--reciprocating compressor--damper. Shaft torsional moments on the drive train and especially on the coupling, whether elastic or stiff, can then only be calculated using numerical simulation. This paper will describe some of the key elements in modelling, simulating and measurements of drive train start-up and shut-down carried out on already operational piston compressor units.展开更多
Distribution networks face an increasing penetration of solar PV (photovoltaic) and small WTG (wind turbine generator) as well as other forms of micro-generation. To this scenario, one must add the dissemination o...Distribution networks face an increasing penetration of solar PV (photovoltaic) and small WTG (wind turbine generator) as well as other forms of micro-generation. To this scenario, one must add the dissemination of non-linear loads such as EV (electric vehicles). There is something in common between those loads and sources: the extensive use of power electronic converters with commutated switches. These devices may be a source of medium-to-high frequency harmonic distortion and their impact on the local distribution grid must be carefully assessed in order to evaluate their negative impacts on the network, on the existing conventional loads and also on other active devices. In this paper, methodologies to characterize effects such as: harmonics, network unbalances, damaging power line resonance conditions, and over/under voltages are described and applied to a real local grid configuration.展开更多
