Based on rolling optimization method and on-line learning strategies, a novel approach based on weighted least squares support vector machines (WLS-SVM) is proposed for nonlinear dynamic modeling. The good robust property of the novel approach enhances the generalization ability of kernel method-based modeling and some experimental results are presented to illustrate the feasibility of the proposed method.展开更多

Multiple models are used to capture the nonlinear process dynamics relating to gain and time constant variations. The multi-model strategy was implemented on several controllers such as Smith-Predictor using PI (Proportional-lntegral) and GPC (Generalized Predictive Control). Computer simulations and experiments were conducted on several nonlinear systems and compared to the original form of these controllers. The enhanced approach was tested on controlling the screw speed of an injection molding machine and temperature of a steel cylinder.展开更多

This study presents a simulation of SOFC building-based cooling, heat and power (BCHP) system, which can meet basic requirements in power and heating (cooling) of the designated customers. The peak power load can be met by power grid, while the peak heating (cooling) load requirement can be met by backup equipments. In order to solve the economic dispatch problem of the energy system, a restricted nonlinear optimization model has been developed. The production costs can be minimized via both the equality constraints of customer’s heat and power demands, and other inequality constrains of equipments’ capacities. The sequential quadratic programming method has been used to search the solution. The study indicates that the model can be used to optimize the system’s capacities and run strategy. An office building case has been computed, and it is indicated that the model can be served in design and optimization of SOFC-BCHP system.展开更多

Nevertheless, the environment has been a bit abstracted by standard economics. Scarce natural resources and our choices to protect them or exploit them jointly determine the economic and environmental systems. In this paper we describe a model with a particular focus on the relationship among income, pollution, and non-renewable resources. We want to combine both economic and environmental sectors. The system dynamics approach is used in analyzing these complex relationships. This paper gives an insight into the possibilities for replacing non-renewable resources with more renewable ones. Next, we present the simulation runs of the model that are conducted with the help of existing system dynamics modeling tools. Only the relationships simulated so far between the variables ought to be put under yet more cautious examination.展开更多

It is known that the parametric and external excitation may induce additional saddle states, and result in chaos in the phase space, which cannot be detected by applying the Melnikov method directly. A feasible solution for this problem is the combination of the averaged equations and Melnikov method. Therefore, we consider the averaged equations of the system subject to Duffing-Van der Pol strong nonlinearity by introducing the undetermined fundamental frequency. Then the bifurcation values of homoclinic structure formation are detected through the combined application of the new averaged equations with Melnikov integration. Finally, the explicit application shows the analytical conditions coincide with the results of numerical simulation even disturbing parameter is of arbitrary magnitude.展开更多
