Furthermore, choosing a range of proper values for carcass stiffness is very essential for both tire safety and effective driving action. In this work,an elaborated 3D model fully compliant with the geometrical size of radial tire 185/60 R15 is worked up, for evaluating the effects of components properties and working conditions on deformation and stress/strain fields created inside the tire. For the simulation, the tire structure is assumed to be composed of tread, carcass ply, and bead. The mechanical behavior of rubber as main component of tire is described by Mooney-Rivlin material model. The comparison of the obtained results and laboratory tests demonstrates the validity and high accuracy of analysis.展开更多

The main outputs of WUImap are: (1) the map of twelve types of wildland-urban interfaces existing on the territory; (2) the map of four housing configuration (isolated, scattered, dense and very dense clustered housing) related to wildland-urban interfaces (WUI). These maps are produced according to the method of WUI characterization combining housing configuration and horizontal structure of vegetation. Required inputs to map WUI are the layer of the residential house, the layer defining the fire sensitive area and the layer of the index of aggregation calculated on vegetation. The method of WUI characterization and mapping incorporated into WUImap has been evaluated and applied on real cases with good results. WUlmap has applicability as a decision support aid in a wide variety of land management ranging from fire management and fire prevention to analysis of WUI spread and land cover dynamic. The core method underlying the WUlrnap is summarized in the present paper.展开更多

Three-factor three-level Box-Behnken design of experiments with response surface methodology(RSM) was employed to understand the performance behavior of jig. From the study, the bed height was found to be the most significant parameter affecting the yield and ash content of clean coal. It was possible to reduce the ash content from 24.32% in feed to an ash content of 16.55% in clean coal at 2 L/min water flow rate and 10 min jigging time. Influence of operating variables of the jig on responses was presented and discussed in 3D surface plots. The developed model was found to be significant within the range of parameters under investigation with correlation of co-efficient values as 0.99(yield) and 0.98(ash).展开更多

FWD tests were conducted and the layer moduli were back calculated on different construction phases: the surface of existing HMA pavement, the FDR base, the new HMA final surface, and the nine months' traffic opening, respectively, for a total of four times. The results indicate the promise of this recycled base material in pavement construction compared to traditional granular base. In addition, this paper discusses how the lab test results relate to the expected performance in a pavement structure by the MEPDG software and its parameter effects. Research indicated the MEPDG provided comparable thickness to the 1993 AASHTO Guide if the failure criteria are set up reasonably. Therefore, the MEPDG could be used as a design tool to estimate layer thickness for FDR pavement with a low-medium traffic volume.展开更多
