To address the problem of subdividing inflexible rectangular grid models and their poor definition of velocity interfaces,we propose a complex structure triangular net for a minimum traveltime ray tracing global algor...To address the problem of subdividing inflexible rectangular grid models and their poor definition of velocity interfaces,we propose a complex structure triangular net for a minimum traveltime ray tracing global algorithm.Our procedure is:(1) Subdivide a triangle grid based on the Delaunay triangular subdivision criterion and the relationships of the points,lines,and the surfaces in the subdividing area.(2) Define the topology relationships and related concepts of triangular unit ray tracing.(3) The source point and wave arrival points at any time compose the propagating plane wave and the minimum traveltime and secondary source positions are calculated during the plane wave propagation.We adopt the hyperbolic approximation global algorithm for secondary source retrieving.(4) By minimum traveltime ray tracing,collect the path from receiver to source points with the neighborhood point's traveltime and the direction of the secondary source.Numerical simulation examples are given to test the algorithm.The results show that the triangular net ray tracing method demonstrates model subdivision flexibility,precise velocity discontinuity interfaces,and accurate computations.展开更多
Passive surface-wave utilization has been intensively studied as a means of compensating for the short-age of low-frequency information in active surface-wave measurement, In general, passive surface-wave methods cann...Passive surface-wave utilization has been intensively studied as a means of compensating for the short-age of low-frequency information in active surface-wave measurement, In general, passive surface-wave methods cannot provide phase velocities up to several tens of hertz; thus, active surface-wave methods are often required in order to increase the frequency range, To reduce the amount of field work, we pro-pose a strategy for a high-frequency passive surface-wave survey that imposes active sources during con-tinuous passive surface-wave observation; we call our strategy "mixed-source surface-wave (MSW) measurement," Short-duration (within 10 min) passive surface waves and mixed-source surface waves were recorded at three sites with different noise levels: namely, inside a school, along a road, and along a railway, Spectral analysis indicates that the high-frequency energy is improved by imposing active sources during continuous passive surface-wave observation, The spatial autocorrelation (SPAC) method and the multichannel analysis of passive surface waves (MAPS) method based on cross-correlations were performed on the recorded time sequences, The results demonstrate the flexibility and applicability of the proposed method for high-frequency phase velocity analysis, We suggest that it will be constructive to perform MSW measurement in a seismic investigation, rather than exclusively performing either active surface-wave measurement or passive surface-wave measurement,展开更多

The inversion methodology ...Urban trains running on ground surface lead to evironmental ground vibrations in the vicinity of railwaylines. The complicated vibration source of the system can hardly be measured directly. The inversion methodology in engineering seismology is borrowed here to study the dynamic exciting sourec, i.e., the wheel-rail unevenness. A dynamic coupled train-track-3D ground model is combined with a genetic algorithm for the inversion. The solution space of the inversion variables, the objective function and the solving genetic strategy of the inversion are determined, and a joint inversion for the wheel-rail unevenness source function and some track structure parameters is therefore designed. The wheel-rail unevenness PSD, being the source function of No. 13 Beijing urban railway, is obtained by the inversoin based on observed data in the field. The result indicates that the source function discribes the track unevenness in the range of wavelength over 1.2 m, and reflects properly wheel irregularites in the range of wavelength shorter than 1.2 m. It should be noticed that the urban rail traffic is not very fast, and this range of short wavelength is exactly corresponding to the main frequency band of environmental vibrations from the traffic. The unevenness of wavelength under 1.2 m is underestimated, and the ground vibration in the main frequency band must be underestimated consequently, if the track unevenness spectrum is taken as the source function. Rather than the track spectrum reflecting just the evenness of track, the wheel-rail spectrum expresses both the track unevenness and the irregularities of wheels, and therefore is more suitable to be the source function of urban railway traffic. It is also convinced that the exciting source inversion according to observed ground vibrations is an effective way to detect quantitatively the combined wheel-rail unevenness.展开更多
