In this process, the coal particle gains additional weight due to...An air dense medium fluidized bed separator(ADMFBS) is used for dry beneficiation of coal using ultrafine magnetite particles as a pseudo-fluid medium. In this process, the coal particle gains additional weight due to coating on its surface and deposition at dead zone area by fine magnetite particles.Hence, the effective density of coal particle increases and the position of coal particle changes accordingly. In this work, an attempt was made to predict the position of coal particle in non-bubbling condition dense medium fluidized bed system. Coal particles of different shape such as cubical, rectangular prism,spherical and triangular prism with different projected area and density were used. The results show that the position of coal particle in air dense medium fluidized bed follows descending order with respect to the increase of density, projected area of coal particle and different shapes(i.e., triangular prism, cubical,rectangular prism and spherical). Empirical mathematical correlations were developed to predict the position of coal particle.展开更多

The use of microorganisms by humans has a long tradition. Bread making is one of the oldest arts known to man. Today we know that lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and yeasts are prevailing organisms in carbohydrate-rich environments. They break down carbohydrates to mainly lactic acid, ethanol and CO2. The present study is to determine the effect of Lactobacillus bulgaricus alone and as a combination with yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) using yeast as a control. In this work, different percentage of Lactobacillus bulgaricus were used to investigate how sourdough affect on the bread sensory characteristics such as volume, specific loaf volume, crust, grain, color crumb, aroma, taste, texture, pH of bread and extended shelf life of bread. Also different storage times were used to know it is affected on the shelf life and sensory characteristics of bread. The results suggest that use of sourdough in bread production is useful in improving sensory properties, decreasing fungal spoilage.展开更多

This paper presents the results of a study that investigated the influence of sand quality on the properties of fresh and hardened SCC (self-compacting concrete). The dune sands are very fine materials characterized by a high intergranular porosity, high surface area and low fineness modulus; on the other hand crushed (manufactured) sand has a high rate into thin and irregular shapes which influence the workability of concrete. The amount of dune sand varies from (0%, 50% to 100%) by weight of fine aggregates. The results show that the rheological properties favour the use of dune sands; however the mechanical properties support the use of crushed sand.展开更多
