The total effective rate was 98.75% and cure rate 88.75%. There was no significant difference in therapeutic effect as compared with the conventional electroacupuncture method (P > 0.5), suggesting that shallow puncture by vibratings can also yield satisfactory therapeutic results.展开更多

Methods: A total of 158 cases of peripheral facial palsy patients are randomly divided into treatment group (n=116 cases, who are treated by penetration needling method) and control group (n=42 cases, who are treated with traditional acupuncture method). In treatment group, main acupoint pairs for penetration needling are Yangbai (GB 14) -Yuyao (EX-HN 4), Tongziliao (GB 1) -Taiyang (EX-HN 5), Jiache (ST 6) -Dicang (ST 4) and Chengjiang (CV 24) -Jiachengjiang (EX-HN) on the affected side, and in control group, the main acupoints used are Yifeng (TE 17), Yangbai (GB 14), Sibai (ST 2), Dicang (ST 4), Jiache (ST 6), Jingming (BL 1) and Chengjiang (CV 24). The treatment is given once daily with 10 sessions being a therapeutic course. Results: After 3 courses of treatment, the cure rates of treatment group and control group are 81.8% and 66.7% separately, showing a significant difference between two groups (P<0.05). The total effective rates of treatment and control groups are 96.5% and 88.1% separately, presenting a significant difference between two groups (P<0.01). Conclusion: The therapeutic effect of penetration needling method is better than that of traditional acupuncture method.展开更多

Patients of the treatment group at the developing stage were dealt with moderate stimulation, and at the stationary stage and the recovery stage with strong stimulation. Patients of the control group at the developing stage were treated with drugs improving micro-circulation and nerve functions, and glucocorticoids, at the stationary stage and the recovery stage with the same methods as in the treatment group. Results: The cure rate in the treatment group and the control group were 88.1% and 68.2% respectively, and the former has shorter treatment course. Conclusion: Acupuncture therapy has better effect on facial paralysis than routine Western medicine, and shorter treatment course.展开更多

Methods: Two hundred subjects were divided into observation group (treated by mind-regulating acupuncture therapy) and control group (treated by points of Yang-ming meridians) with one hundred in each group. The points of Yang-ming meridians were mainly selected for control group, observation group were treated by points with the function of regulating mind besides the points of control group, for two courses with 10 treatments in course. Results: The cure rate was 65.0% and total effective rate was 99.0% in observation group, while in control group, the cure rate was 55.0% and total effective rate was 91.0%, the curative effect in observation group was prior to control group (P〈0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of mind-regulating acupuncture gives a quicker response, a shorter course of treatment and a higher cure rate.展开更多

Methods: One hundred and nineteen cases with peripheral facial paralysis were randomly allocated into an observation group (60 cases) and a control group (59 cases) by the visiting sequence. The cases in the observation group were treated with electroacupuncture on Jiaozheng (Extra) plus hydro-acupuncture, and the cases in the control group were treated with normal acupuncture. The treatment was conducted once a day and 7 times as a course, with 1-2 d interval. Evaluation were done after 6 courses. Results: Comparing the cure and marked efficacy rate, observation group was much better than control group, and there was statistical difference (P〈0.05); after 14-day treatment, the cure and marked efficacy rate of the observation group and the control group was 78.3% and 49.2%, respectively; after 21-day treatment, the cure and marked efficacy rate of the observation group and the control group was 88.3% and 67.8%, respectively. There was significant difference between the two groups (P〈0.01). Conclusion: The therapeutic effect of electroacupuncture mainly on Jiaozheng (Extra) plus hydro-acupuncture in treating facial paralysis was better and with shorter courses.展开更多

Methods Sixty inpatients with peripheral facial neuritis were randomly divided into two groups: observation group (Taiji needling group, n=30) and control group (conventional acupuncture group, n=30); the treatment was conducted once a day, which was not stopped until the patients were discharged from hospital after recovery. The curative effect was evaluated before and after treatment by applying the therapeutic outcome rating scale of peripheral facial neuritis (portmann scale). Results The improve merit of efficacy indices in the observation group was superior to that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P〈0.05); the course of treatment was shortened in the observation group compared with the control group, and the difference was also statistically significant (P〈0.05). Conclusion The efficacy index of Taiji needling in treatment of peripheral facial neuritis is superior to that of conventional acupuncture, and Taiji needling can obviously shorten the course of treatment.展开更多

Methods: Sixty-six cases with peripheral facial paralysis were randomly allocated into a treatment group and a control group, 33 cases in each group. The cases in the treatment group were treated with combined electroacupuncture and Chinese medicine formula, while the cases in the control group were treated by electroacupuncture alone. Results: The recovery rate in the treatment group was significantly higher than the control group (P〈0.05). In addition, the time length for recovery in the treatment group tended to be shorter than the control group. Conclusion: Combined acupuncture and medication can obtain better effect than electroacupuncmre alone for peripheral facial paralysis.展开更多

Methods:A total of 40 eligible BP patients during pregnancy were randomized into a treatment group (n=20) and a control group (n=20). The treatment group was intervened by EA at Sizhukong (TE 23), Tongziliao (GB 1), Sibai (ST 2), Quanliao (SI 18), Yifeng (TE 17), Dicang (ST 4), Jiache (ST 6) and point injection at Zusanli (ST 36) and Yanglingquan (GB 34) on the affected side, 30 min every time, 10 sessions as a course, for 2 courses in total while control group by EA with the same points, manipulation and courses as the treatment group. Results:After the treatment, the H-B classification in the treatment group was better than that in the control group, with a significant inter-group difference (P〈0.05); after the treatment, the change of FDI score in the treatment group was significantly different from that in the control group (P〈0.05). Conclusion:EA at local points plus point injection can produce a more significant efficacy than EA in the treatment of BP during pregnancy.展开更多
