A design scheme for an MPEG2 compliant digital television system including audio-video encoding and multiplexing was implemented. The principles and elements of system layer stream synthesis were analyzed. The key technologies of video and audio PES packetization were discussed, such as stream structure, scheduling matching, audio-video synchronization, data flow and buffering. DSP and FPGA are combined to construct header information and packet structure. The substitution of traditional RAM or PLD results in high operational efficiency and saves memory space. A scheduling algorithm was introduced for PES coding, using the monitor information of PES buffers. DTS is generated by multiplexer to guarantee synchronization. The system is not only simple but also stable, and maintains synchronization constraints of the standard. It supports both analogy and digital audio-video source input, and provides real-time MPEG2 compliant TS/PS output. It has perfect performance and meets the national broadcasting requirements.展开更多

The mechanism can be ...Image or video resources are often received in poor condition, mostly with noise or defects making the resources hard to read. We propose an effective algorithm based on digital image inpainting. The mechanism can be used in restoring images or video frames with very high noise or defect ratio (e.g., 90%). The algorithm is based on the concept of image subdivision and estimation of color variations. Noises inside blocks of different sizes are inpainted with different levels of surrounding information. The results showed that an almost unrecognizable image can be recovered with visually good result. The algorithm can be further extended for processing motion picture with high percentage of noise.展开更多

Although the use of still image is currently implemented in some distinguished testing systems, video test is not a po...Visual and pictorial materials are extensively used in teaching listening comprehension textbooks. Although the use of still image is currently implemented in some distinguished testing systems, video test is not a popular modality due to the fact that this kind of test may result in test-takers' confusion during the test. In the present study, a sample of 80 Iranian EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students was selected to compare their performance on three different modalities of listening test: audio-only test, pictorial (listening with still image test), and visual (video) listening test. The analysis of one-way repeated measure ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) was used to compare the students' scores. The results of Bonferroni Post Hoc Test confirm that there were significant differences in scores among audio-only, pictorial, and visual tests. The results of this study highlight the greater performance of students in pictorial listening test which is statistically significant.展开更多
