The realizable κ-ε model was used as a turbulent closure illustrate that the interaction exists between shock waves The supersonic flow field near air inlets was analyzed. The flow structures and boundary layer, and the flow separation is formed at the lower comer and the lower wall around the point of a maximum velocity. The numerical results show that the conversion from supersonic flow to subsonic flow in spherical air bearing occurs through a shock region (pseudo-shock), and the viscous boundary layer results in the flow separation and reverse flow near the shock. The calculation results basically agree with the corresponding experimental data.展开更多

The turbulent flow in the piping elbow is simulated with large eddy simulation (LES). Following this, a hybrid method of combining LES and Lighthill's acoustic analogy theory is used to simulate the hydrodynamic noise and sound sources are solved as volume sources in code Actran. In addition, the flow-induced vibration of the piping elbow is investigated based on a fluid-structure interaction (FSI) code. The LES results indicate that the range of vortex zone in the elbow without the guide vane is larger than the case with the guide vane, and the guide vane is effective in reducing flow-induced noise and vibration in the 90° piping elbow at different Reynolds numbers.展开更多

The findings of the computational fluid dynamics(CFD) simulations were compared with the published experimental data and fairly good agreement was observed between the two, thus validating the condensation model. The results of CFD simulations for dimensionless penetration length of steam plume varies from 2.73-7.33,while the condensation heat transfer coefficient varies from 0.75-0.917 MW·(m ^2 ·K)^ -1 for water temperature in the range of 293-343 K.展开更多

This model is developed from the original one by Kataoka and Tsutahara [Phys. Rev. E 69 (2004) 056702]. The convection term is discretized by the Non-oscillatory, containing No free parameters and Dissipative (NND) scheme, which effectively damps oscillations at discontinuities. To be more consistent with the kinetic theory of viscosity and to further improve the numerical stability, an additional dissipation term is introduced. Model parameters are chosen in such a way that the von Neumann stability criterion is satisfied. The new model is validated by well-known benchmarks, (i) Riemann problems, including the problem with Lax shock tube and a newly designed shock tube problem with high Mach number; (ii) reaction of shock wave on droplet or bubble. Good agreements are obtained between LB results and exact ones or previously reported solutions. The model is capable of simulating flows from subsonic to supersonic and capturing jumps resulted from shock waves.展开更多

We discuss the reason why the Gram Schmidt orthogonalization procedure is not needed in the construction of transformation matrix M; point out a reason why the Kataoka-Tsutahara model [Phys. Rev. Secondly, we carry out a preliminary quantitative study on the Richtmyer- Meshkov instability using the proposed MRT LB model. When a shock wave travels from a light medium to a heavy one, the simulated growth rate is in qualitative agreement with the perturbation model by Zhang-Sohn. It is about half of the predicted value by the impulsive model and is closer to the experimental result. When the shock wave travels from a heavy medium to a light one, our simulation results are also consistent with physical analysis.展开更多

The data collected by the electrical penetration is processed and interpreted using “tunnel penetration” which is similar to radio wave penetration. Reflection characteristics of collapse columns at different locations below floors of coal seams are analyzed, providing a new paradigm and a theoretical foundation for processing and interpreting electrical penetration data. The tomography analysis is made based on data simulation and calculation results and alltransmitting-receiving points are analyzed for their corresponding maximum attenuation values and maximum absorption coefficients. On the basis of this, a new method for precisely interpreting the spatial positions of geological anomalous bodies is suggested. The simulation shows that 1) the detection result of both roof and floors of the working face by electrical penetration is a volumetric effect and 2) there exists a corresponding relation between the detection depth and the working face width, with the op- timal detection depth within 40% of the workin face width.展开更多

A design scheme for an MPEG2 compliant digital television system including audio-video encoding and multiplexing was implemented. The principles and elements of system layer stream synthesis were analyzed. The key technologies of video and audio PES packetization were discussed, such as stream structure, scheduling matching, audio-video synchronization, data flow and buffering. DSP and FPGA are combined to construct header information and packet structure. The substitution of traditional RAM or PLD results in high operational efficiency and saves memory space. A scheduling algorithm was introduced for PES coding, using the monitor information of PES buffers. DTS is generated by multiplexer to guarantee synchronization. The system is not only simple but also stable, and maintains synchronization constraints of the standard. During the first and last 3-mo eras(era 1 and 3), no HFNO was available, whereas it was an option during the second 3-mo era(era 2). The primary outcome was the percent utilization of GA vs deep sedation in each period. Secondary outcomes included oxygen saturation nadir during sedation between periods, as well as procedure duration, and anesthesia-only time between periods and for GA vs sedation cases respectively.RESULTS During the study period 238 ERCP or EUS cases were identified for analysis. Statistical testing was employed and a P < 0.050 was significant unless the Bonferroni correction for multiple comparisons was used. General anesthesia use was significantly lower in era 2 compared to era 1 with the same trend between era 2 and 3(P = 0.012 and 0.045 respectively). The oxygen saturation nadir during sedation was significantly higher in era 2 compared to era 3(P < 0.001) but not between eras 1 and 2(P = 0.028) or 1 and 3(P = 0.069). The procedure time within each era was significantly longer under GA compared to deep sedation(P ≤ 0.007) as was the anesthesia-only time(P ≤ 0.001).CONCLUSION High-flow nasal oxygen availability was associated with decreased GA utilization and improved oxygenation for ERCP and EUS during sedation.展开更多

The controllable contour design technique was applied to obtaining the original nozzle profile, while other Machnumbers were derived from the transformation of the original profile. A design scheme, covering a Mach-number range of3.0<Ma<4.0, was shown to illustrate the present design technique. To fully validate the present design method, computational fluid dynamics(CFD) analyses were carried out to study the flow quality in the test area of the nozzle. The computed results indicate that exit uniform flow is obtained with 1.19% of the maximal Mach-number deviation at the nozzle exit. The present design method achieves the continuously variable Mach-number flow during a wind tunnel running.展开更多

Although a great deal of theoretical, experimental, and numerical research has been carried out, particle motion in a supersonic flow has not been sufficiently clarified. Hence, in order to clarify the interactions between flow and particles, the authors consider the characteristics of particle motion, especially at high temperatures. In the present study, the flow of a gas with a diluted particle load is to be simulated in a conventional converging-diverging supersonic nozzle. The turbulent gas flow in the nozzle is computed with the finite difference and RANS (raynolds averaged navier-stokes simulation) methods. The particle motion is simulated in a Lagrangian manner. In addition, taking into account the light particle loading, a weak coupling method is used. Through this investigation, it is shown that the particle velocity increases monotonically from the nozzle throat to the outlet. And it is shown that particles can be accelerated to higher velocities in helium than in nitrogen, and smaller particles tend to attain higher speed and lower static temperature.展开更多

By using the continuity equation and Tait state equation as well as Riabouchinsky closure model, an“inverse problem”solution is presented for the supercavitating flow. According to the impenetrable condition on the surface of supercavity, a new iterative method for the supercavity shape is designed to deal with the effect of compressibility on the supercavity shape, pressure drag coefficient and density field. By this method, the very low cavitation number can be computed. The calculated results agree well with the experimental data and empirical formula. At the subsonic condition, the fluid compressibility will make supercavity length and radius increase. The supercavity expands, but remains spheroid. The effect on the first 1/3 part of supercavity is not obvious. The drag coefficient of projectile increases as the cavitation number or Mach number increases. With Mach number increasing, the compressibility is more and more significant. The compressibility must be considered as far as the accurate calculation of supercavitating flow is concerned.展开更多

文摘To deal with the effect of compressible fluids on the supercavitating flow over the subsonic disk cavitator of a projectile, a finite volume method is formulated based on the ideal compressible potential theory. The compressibility must be considered as far as the accurate calculation of supercavitating flow is concerned.
