Multichannel audio signal is more difficult to be compressed than mono and stereo ones.A novel multichannel audio signal compression method based on tensor representation and decomposition is proposed in this paper.The multichannel audio is represented with 3-order tensor space and is decomposed into core tensor with three factor matrices in the way of channel,time and frequency.Only the truncated core tensor is transmitted which will be multiplied by the pre-trained factor matrices to reconstruct the original tensor space.Objective and subjective experiments have been done to show a very noticeable compression capability with an acceptable output quality.The novelty of the proposed compression method is that it enables both high compression capability and backward compatibility with limited signal distortion to the hearing. 展开更多

Traditional watermark embedding schemes inevitably modify the data in a host audio signal and lead to the degradation of the host signal.In this paper,a novel audio zero-watermarking algorithm based on discrete wavelet transform(DWT),discrete cosine transform(DCT),and singular value decomposition(SVD) is presented.The watermark is registered by performing SVD on the coefficients generated through DWT and DCT to avoid data modification and host signal degradation.Simulation results show that the proposed zero-watermarking algorithm is strongly robust to common signal processing methods such as requantization,MP3 compression,resampling,addition of white Gaussian noise,and low-pass filtering. 展开更多

Over the past decade, wavelets provided a powerful and flexible set of tools for handling fundamental problems in science and engineering. Wavelet analyses are being used for solving problems in different engineering areas like audio de-noising, signal compression, object detection, image decomposition, speech recognition etc. Wavelet analysis employs orthonormal as well as non-orthonornal functions. This research investigates the effectiveness of wavelet analysis in detecting defects in underground steel pipe networks. Continuous Wavelet Transforms (CWT) has been performed on the received signals of cylindrical guided waves. Cylindrical Guided waves are generated and propagated through the pipe wall boundaries in a pitch-catch system. Piezo-electric transducers are used to generate as well as receive guided waves. Several mother wavelet functions such as Daubechies, Symlet, Coiflet and Meyer have been used for the Continuous Wavelet Transform to investigate the most suitable function for defect detection. This research also investigates the effect of surrounding soil on wavelet transforms for different mother wavelet functions. 展开更多

The basic idea is to embed watermark in selected high inflexion regions, and the intensity of embedded watermarks are modified by adaptively adjusting a. As these high inflexion local regions usually correspond to music edges like sound of percussion instruments, explosion or transition of mixed music, which represent the music rhythm or tempo and are very important to human auditory perception, the embedded watermark is especially expected to escape the distortions caused by time domain synchronization attacks. Taking advantage of localization and SNR, the method shows strong robustness against common problems in audio signal processing, random cropping, time scale modification, etc. 展开更多

A new,simple and efficient fiber audio transmission method for the long distance secure communication is presented, which performs signal modulation by the strain-optic effects and signal demodulation by the all-fiber interferometer. The interferometer is a truly path-matched device, which eliminates much of the undesirable noise by combining the reference and the sensing arms within the same optical fiber. The sinusoidal signals adopted in the experiment are in a frequency range of 300 HZ-3 400 HZ and of the multi-frequency, and the system shows good capabilities, robust security and maintenance of audio integrity. The device may be applicable in the field of point to point secure communication of 40 kilometer long transmission range. 展开更多

The key technology of this scheme is jamming parameters' accurate estimation and jamming reconstruction. Compared with the 'threshold exciser' scheme the proposed scheme can eliminate more jamming energy on the whole frequency band with the minimum loss of useful signal energy. As shown in the research and simulation, the proposed scheme is much better than the 'threshold exciser' scheme, especially in the case of high power jamming whereas the 'threshold exciser' scheme might be invalid. 展开更多

This paper proposes a new method for extracting ENF (electric network frequency) fluctuations from digital audio recordings for the purpose of forensic authentication. It is shown that the extraction of ENF components from audio recordings is realizable by applying a parametric approach based on an AR (autoregressive) model. The proposed method is compared to the existing STFT (short-time Fourier transform) based ENF extraction method. Experimental results from recorded electrical grid signals and recorded audio signals show that the proposed approach can improve the time resolution in the extracted ENF fluctuations and improve the detection of tampering with short alterations in longer audio recordings. 展开更多

Objective: To analyze the non-periodic, unstable and even chaotic echoes scattered from microbubbles which are extremely sensitive and may easily collapse, fragment or shrink when ultrasound contrast agents are exposed to ultrasound (US) irradiation. Methods: The combined time-frequency analysis was applied to the original signals instead of the traditional Fourier spectral analysis technique. Results: The results obtained from simulation as well as experiment showed that the subharmonic, 2nd harmonic and ultra harmonic of the microbubbles occurred during the oscillation and varied with time. The dependence on the incident ultrasonic amplitude and microbubble parameters were established. Conclusion: The transient echoes backscattered from the ultrasound agent in the evaluation of the blood perfusion can be analyzed thoroughly by the technique of combined-frequency analysis and the time detail of the frequency contents can be revealed. 展开更多

High Efficiency Stereo Audio Compression Method Using Polar Coordinate Principle Component Analysis for Wireless Communications

High efficiency audio compression is the basic technology in audio involved multimedia communications. Downmixing and parametric coding is efficient coding scheme with wide applications in some up-to-date audio codecs such as Parametric Stereo (PS) in EAAC+ and MPEG-Surround. Principle Component Analysis (PCA) stereo coding followed this idea to map two channels to one channel with maximum energy and parameterize the secondary channel. This paper investigates the conventional PCA method performance under general stereo model with multiple sound sources and different directions, and then proposes a Polar Coordinate based PCA (PC-PCA) stereo coding method. It has been proved that when multiple sound sources exist with different directions, PC-PCA is better than the conventional PCA method when Mean to Standard deviation Ratio (MSR) is large. A stereo codec based on PC-PCA is proposed to validate the performance improvement of proposed method. Objective and subjective tests show the proposed method achieves a comparative quality and saves 50% parameter bit rate comparing with conventional PCA method, and obtains a 4-8 MUSHRA scores improvement comparing with state-of-the-art stereo codec at the same parameter bit rate. 展开更多
