The results indicate that the pre-aging process for Cu-Ni-Si alloy was responsible to the significant strengthening effect in re-aging process, and the re-aging strengthening effect with pre-aging at 450°C for 8h was even more remarkable. Upon aging, a phenomenon of simultaneous in situ and discontinuous recrystallization was observed in the treatment of pre-aging and deformed Cu-Ni-Si alloy. On the formation and growth of recrystallization, the precipitated phases are coarsed or dissolved in the front of grain boundaries following a re-precipitation in the recrystallization area.展开更多

Many scholars focused on analytical methods or time series to model software aging process. While machine learning has been shown as a very promising technique in application to forecast software state: normal or aging. In this paper, we proposed a method which can give practice guide to forecast software aging using machine learning algorithm. Firstly, we collected data from a running commercial web server and preprocessed these data. Secondly, feature selection algorithm was applied to find a subset of model parameters set. Thirdly, time series model was used to predict values of selected parameters in advance. Fourthly, some machine learning algorithms were used to model software aging process and to predict software aging. Fifthly, we used sensitivity analysis to analyze how heavily outcomes changed following input variables change. In the last, we applied our method to an IIS web server. Through analysis of the experiment results, we find that our proposed method can predict software aging in the early stage of system development life cycle.展开更多

It has been associated with adverse outcomes such as progression of hepatitis C and major vascular events. As the United States population ages and the rate of obesity increases, prevention of the metabolic syndrome in the post-transplant population deserves special consideration. Currently, the metabolic syndrome after transplant appears at least two times more common than observed rates in the general population. Specific guidelines for patients after transplant does not exist, therefore prevention rests upon knowledge of risk factors and the presence of modifiable elements. The current article will focus on risk factors for the development of the metabolic syndrome after transplant, will highlight potentially modifiable factors and propose potential areas for intervention. As in the non-transplant population, behavioral choices might have a major role. Opportunities exist in this regard for health prevention studies incorporating lifestyle changes. Other factors such as the need for immunosuppression, and the changing characteristics of wait listed patients are not modifiable, but are important to know in order to identify persons at higher risk. Although immunosuppression after transplant is unavoidable, the contribution of different agents to the development of components of the metabolic syndrome is also discussed. Ultimately, an increased risk of the metabolic syndrome after transplant is likely unavoidable, however, there are many opportunities to reduce the prevalence.展开更多

In this work, data collected from field experimental campaigns over 10 years after construction using several premixed one-coat rendered walls and over 4 and 6 years after construction in the case of ETICS (external thermal insulation composite systems) are presented and discussed. The influence of hydrophobic agents on the performance of both types of facades in terms of surface condition and water penetration was assessed by visual inspections, Karsten test and capillary tests. Additionally, adhesion tests and subsequent evaluation of porosity were also carried out for premixed one-coat mortars. The results obtained have shown that ageing of the rendering solutions, especially after 5 or 6 years in-service, results from the loss of resistance to liquid water penetration, especially at the surface. Yet, additional mechanisms such as leaching of hydrophobic agents and photochemical degradation are thought to be involved, too. Moreover, the results obtained using the Karsten test proved to be the most reliable method to determine the loss of water penetration resistance and predict the ageing of facade solutions. The information collected and the correlations established can help developing solutions to prevent early ageing and implement appropriate maintenance plans to delay their effect.展开更多

The studies covered over 157 test sections representing both neat (virgin) asphalt and crumb rubber modified (asphalt-rubber) binders. The data comprised of a wide range of penetration, viscosity, and Performance Grade (PG) parameters, at original and aged conditions. In the late 1990s, asphalt PG complex shear modulus (G*), and phase angle (5) data were collected. The main purpose of this paper was to use the assembled database of the field core-aged asphalt test data and compare the test results to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials approved Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG) predictive modeled asphalt properties such as penetration and viscosity, G*, and 5. Furthermore, G* and laboratory measurements on neat and asphalt-rubber binders extracted from the field cores of the pavement sections aged ten or more years were compared to the pressure aging vessel PG G* and ~. values. It was observed that the MEPDG predicted asphalt binder properties were rational for originally (tank) sampled binders, but fairly correlated for the aged binders. Additionally, penetration and viscosity aging indices representing over 20 years of field aged sections were established for a wide variety of asphalt binder grades. Overall, the relationships for aging indices were meaningful and rational. Results of this research indicated the degree of difficulty in predicting asphalt binder properties for pavements with ten or more years of field aging. The findings from this research study are envisioned to be of substantial value in future asphalt binder aging studies.展开更多

HTV (high temperature vulcanized) silicone rubber is a high performance dielectric material used within electrical power equipment, in particular transmission and distribution insulators. In this paper, we proposed a new approach using the Newton's method and Lagrange method to predict the aging of HTV silicone rubber that are subjected to multiple stress conditions. Concentration of chemical elements such as carbon, oxygen, silicon and aluminum were obtained and evaluated using a SEM (scanning electron microscope) with EDS (energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy). Curve fitting using the Newton's and Lagrange interpolation methods yield useful linear interpolation equations that describe the aging characteristic of the specimens under study. This approach can be applied to predict the change in chemical concentration of polymeric insulators over the life cycle with good accuracy.展开更多
