This kind of formulation suffers from a lack of computer-aided tool to assist the colorist attempting to find a good recipe to reproduce a target color. In this article a tristimulus color matching algorithm based on Stcarns-Noechel model is proposed. This algorithm was run to predict recipes for 36 viscose blends. The maximum color difference is 0.97 CIELAB units. It is demonstrated that the algorithm can be used in color matching of fiber blends.展开更多

By using a skin-color selector, the regions with color "like" that of human skin ar...A closed-loop algorithm to detect human face using color information and reinforcement learning is presented in this paper. By using a skin-color selector, the regions with color "like" that of human skin are selected as candidates for human face. In the next stage, the candidates are matched with a face model and given an evaluation of the match degree by the matching module. And if the evaluation of the match result is too low, a reinforcement learning stage will start to search the best parameters of the skin-color selector. It has been tested using many photos of various ethnic groups under various lighting conditions, such as different light source, high light and shadow. And the experiment result proved that this algorithm is robust to the vary-ing lighting conditions and personal conditions.展开更多

It has two separate skin-color detection steps: th...A novel approach is proposed to automatically detect pomographic images with skin-like color background on the Intemet using the locations of human faces and bodies. It has two separate skin-color detection steps: the first one is to quickly detect the potential human skin-color regions; and the second one is to use an off-the-shelf face detector to locate a human face and then apply hypothesis testing based on series of assumptions which take into account the face-height ratio, body orientation and modem photograph composition common sense, etc. After that, a template matching method is used to further discriminate normal images or pornographic ones. Experimental results show that the proposed method has high precision and real time speed.展开更多
Juveniles of the shore crab Hemigrapsus oregonensis are highly variable in color, ranging from the typical yellowish- green of adults to pure white and myriad patterns of white mottling and other disruptive markings, ...Juveniles of the shore crab Hemigrapsus oregonensis are highly variable in color, ranging from the typical yellowish- green of adults to pure white and myriad patterns of white mottling and other disruptive markings, but large individuals with white coloration appear to be very rare. Using image analysis to quantify the relative "whiteness" of beaches, we sampled crabs from nine locations in Washington State that varied widely in their amount of shell fragments and other light-colored material. The total proportion of white individuals in the different locations was strongly correlated to the proportion of white material on the beaches, but there was a striking difference between sexes. Although white specimens of both sexes declined significantly at sizes above 10 mm carapace width, white females generally persisted throughout the entire female size range on lighter-colored beaches while white males larger than 10 mm were virtually absent from all of the sampled populations. Pure white males held on dark backgrounds in captivity remained white, as they lack the dark chromatophores in their hypoderrnis needed to change color; off-white males became darker and in some cases lightened up again when transferred back to a white background. Reflective and transmissive film interference colors were calculated for DLC films on the Si and SiO 2 substrates.The calculated interference colors were compared with photographed colors of the prepared DLC samples.T...Reflective and transmissive film interference colors were calculated for DLC films on the Si and SiO 2 substrates.The calculated interference colors were compared with photographed colors of the prepared DLC samples.The observed film colors were found to match reasonably well with the corresponding calculated colors,indicating that DLC film colors come from interference instead of color center effects.Color charts for DLC films on the Si and SiO 2 substrates with various optical gaps were constructed,and the relationship between interference color and film properties such as optical gap,thickness and substrate were investigated.Usefulness of the calculated color charts in estimating optical gap or thickness of DLC films were demonstrated.展开更多
