It ...Based on the latest macro financial data, this paper estimates China' s overall leverage ratio and sector-specific leverage ratios for households, non-financial enterprises, government and financial institutions. It is noted with particular emphasis that the tendency of non-financial enterprises to increase leverage has further intensified instead of abated, which warrants our great attention. Considering that increasing leverage of government sector represents a basic international trend since the eruption of global financial crisis, we simulate the paths of dynamic evolution of China's debt-to-GDP ratio on the basis of different scenarios of the difference between real economic growth rate and real interest rate, together with the NPL ratio of banks. Result indicates that in the coming two decades, the leverage ratio of China's government sector will continue to rise and will not converge. Hiking leverage ratio, growing debt burden and rising non-performing assets present major financial risks facing China for a certain period of time in the future. Under the premise of supply-side structural reforms and in tandem with the efforts of the real economy to reduce overcapacity, inventory and eliminate zombie firms, we suggest that China focus on disposing of non-performing assets and steadily deleverage through the implementation of integrated strategies to prevent debt problems from triggering systemic financial crisis.展开更多

METHODS: A total of 4471 p...AIM: To identify and evaluate the relative impact of H pylori infection and other risk factors on the occurrence of gastric ulcer (GU), duodenal ulcer (DU) and gastritis in Turkish patients. METHODS: A total of 4471 patients (48.3% female) out of 4863 attended the Samatya hospital in Istanbul (June 1999 - October 2003) were included. The records of H pylori status (CLO-test), endoscopic f indings of GU, DU and gastritis, personal habits (smoking, alcohol intake) and medication [non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), aspirin intake] were analyzed using multi-way frequency analysis. RESULTS: We have found that GU in the presence of H pylori had significant association with aspirin (P = 0.0001), alcohol (P = 0.0090) and NSAIDs (P = 0.0372). DU on the other hand had significant association with aspirin/ smoking/NSAIDs (P = 0.0259), aspirin/alcohol (P = 0.0002) and aspirin/smoking (P = 0.0233), also in the presence of H pylori. In the absence of H pylori GU had significant association with alcohol/NSAIDs (P = 0.0431), and NSAIDs (P = 0.0436). While DU in the absence of H pylori had significant association with smoking/alcohol/ NSAIDs (P = 0.0013), aspirin/NSAIDs (P = 0.0334), aspirin/alcohol (P = 0.0360). CONCLUSION: In the presence of H pylori, aspirin, alcohol and NSAIDs intake act as an independent risk factors that had an augmenting impact on the occurrence of GU and only together on the occurrence of DU in Turkish patients.展开更多
In wind tunnel tests,long cantilever stings are usually used to support aerodynamic models.However,this kind of sting support system is prone to vibration problems due to its low damping,which limits the test envelope...In wind tunnel tests,long cantilever stings are usually used to support aerodynamic models.However,this kind of sting support system is prone to vibration problems due to its low damping,which limits the test envelope and affects the data quality.It is shown in many studies that the sting vibration can be effectively reduced by using active sting dampers based on piezoelectric actuators.This paper attempts to review the research progress of piezoelectric vibration control in wind tunnel tests,covering the design of active sting dampers,control methods and wind tunnel applications.First of all,different design schemes of active sting dampers are briefly introduced,along with the vibration damping principle.Then,a comprehensive review of the control methods for active sting dampers is presented,ranging from classic control methods,like PID control algorithm,to various intelligent control methods.Furthermore,the applications of active sting dampers and controllers in different wind tunnels are summarized to evaluate their vibration damping effect.Finally,the remaining problems that need to be solved in the future development of piezoelectric vibration control in wind tunnel tests are discussed.展开更多
Acila divaricata (Hinds, 1843) and A. mirabilis (Adams and Reeve, 1850) are common benthic bivalves in China. A number of researchers have proposed that the latter species is a junior synonym of the former species...Acila divaricata (Hinds, 1843) and A. mirabilis (Adams and Reeve, 1850) are common benthic bivalves in China. A number of researchers have proposed that the latter species is a junior synonym of the former species. Because of morphological similarities, it is difficult to distinguish these two species based on visual examination only. For better understanding of their taxon-omy, the mitochondrial CO1 gene fragments of five individuals of A. divaricata from the East China Sea and six individuals of A. mirabilis from the Yellow Sea were sequenced in this study. The phylogenetic relationships of the obtained COI sequences, together with nineteen sequences of three species of the genus Nucula, were analyzed. The pairwise intra- and inter-specific distances for the CO1 sequences ranged from 0.002 to 0.017 and from 0.128 to 0.134, respectively, and no overlap was found. Phylogenetically, A. divaricata and A. mirabilis form distinct clades and cluster into a sister to all other Nucula species. The results indicated that A. di-varicata and A. mirabilis are two distinct species. The differences in the morphology and distribution between the two species were briefly discussed.展开更多

METHODS: In order...AIM: To investigate the association of the inducible ni- tric oxide synthetase (iNOS) C150T polymorphism with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylor/) infection and gastric can- cer (GC) risk in Iran. METHODS: In order to determine whether there was a correlation between iNOS genotype and GC in Iran, we conducted a case-control study using samples from 329 individuals. For each sample, the C150T ilVOS poly- morphism was genotyped by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and restriction digestion. Patients were grouped by cancer presence, demographic and behavior charac- teristics, and/-/, pylori infection status. Statistical tests were conducted to determine whether any behavioral factors or a particular iNOS genotype was associated with GC in the study population. RESULTS: In this population, we found that smok- ing, hot beverage consumption, a familial history of GC and H. pylori infection status were significantly associated with GC development (P = 0.015, P 〈 0.001, P = 0.0034, and P 〈 0.015, respectively). The distribution of the C150T ilVOS genotypes among the two study groups was not statistically significant alone, but was impacted by H. pylori infection status. When compared to the non-/-/, pylori infected group, cancer patients who had a heterozygous CT genotype and were also infected with H. pylori were 2.1 times more at risk of developing GC [odds ratio (OR) = 2.1, P = 0.03] while those with a homozygous TT genotype and infected with H. pylori were 5.0 times more at risk of developing GC (OR = 5.0, P = 0.029). In contrast, this association was not seen in patients in the control group.CONCLUSION: ACT or TT polymorphism at position 150 in the iNO$ gene significantly increases the risk of GC and may be a marker for GC susceptibility.展开更多

It was optimized that the experimental parameters for each PCR, and a comparative study on practivity among three PCRs was also conducted for practical purpose.Results and conclusion. For detecting infection with M. leprae, all of PCRs established by us were highly sensitive and specific, but for practicl purpose, the woods’ PCR optimized by us ought to be chosen firstly.展开更多

The results showed that these inoculated animals w...Immune-deficient nude mice were inoculated with nude mouse derived Mycobacteriurn leprae by multiple routes (intravenously. subcutaneously at the foot pads and ears). The results showed that these inoculated animals were capable of producing a great number of Mycobacterium leprae to a level 10(11-12) per gram of tissue. and were detected histopathologically to have heavy leproniatous lesions. The dissemination of the infection was found particularly in sites with lower body temperature.The organisms have a partiality to striated muscles and peripheral nerves. The authors suggest that experimental leprosy in nude mice is a very useful tool for leprosy resarch. especially in countries without armadillos. Compared with the single-route inoculation reported previously. multiple-route inoculation is more available.展开更多
Population ageing and high financial leverage are two common problems .faced by the worM's major economies. The recent financial crisis proved that the two issues could lead to systemic risk if not handled properly. ...Population ageing and high financial leverage are two common problems .faced by the worM's major economies. The recent financial crisis proved that the two issues could lead to systemic risk if not handled properly. Based on dynamic panel data from 1980 to 2012 in 119 countries, this paper examines the impact of population ageing on financial leverage J?om an empirical point of view and finds that there is a signOqcant inverted U-shape relationship between the two. In addition, empirical studies show that after passing the "turning point" of ageing, there will be a marked increase in the probability of financial crisis during the "deleveraging" process. It can be projected from the empirical conclusions of this paper that China will likely enter the range of a turning point between 2019 and 2028. After that, population ageing, deleveraging and asset price collapse may have a "resonance" effect to severely impact the stability of the financial system. Therefore, China should shift to more proactive macro financial regulations as quickly as possible, as dynamic and robust management of financial leverage and forward-looking control of bubbles could ensure that the financial system remain flexible enough to avoid systemic risk to the greatest extent.展开更多

The calculation indicated that for the oceanic crust plate which central angle is over 90°, a huge value(its equivalence is 108 N)of accumulative force moment in the crustal isostatic movement caused by tide can trigger off relative motion of plate, resulting in earthquake and volcanic eruption. The seismic wave features during the year 2001-2004 is an obvious example. The paracycles, i.e. 4, 12, 60, 36, 243, 372 and 396 years of tidal fluctuation can provide an explanation for some respective natural disasters. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy, practicality and sustainability of a combined approach based on solvent extraction and biodegradation to remediate the soils contaminated with high levels of weathered petrol...This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy, practicality and sustainability of a combined approach based on solvent extraction and biodegradation to remediate the soils contaminated with high levels of weathered petroleum hydrocarbons. The soils used in this study were obtained from the Shengli Oilfield in China, which had a long history of contamination with high concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons. The contaminated soils were washed using a composite organic solvent consisting of hexane and pentane (4:1, v/v) and then bioremediated in microcosms which were bioaugmentated with Bacillus subtilis FQ06 strains and/or rhamnolipid. The optimal solvent extraction conditions were determined as extraction for 20 min at 25 ~C with solvent-soil ratio of 6:1 (v/w). On this basis, total petroleum hydrocarbon was decreased from 140000 to 14000 mg kg-1, which was further reduced to 〈 4000 mg kg-1 by subsequent bioremediatton for 132 d. Sustainability assessment of this integrated technology showed its good performance for both short- and long-term effectiveness. Overall the results encouraged its application for remediating contaminated sites especially with high concentration weathered hydrocarbons.展开更多
