A new mechanistic cutting force model for flat end milling using the instantaneous cutting force coefficients is proposed. An in-depth analysis shows that the total cutting forces can be separated into two terms: a nominal component independent of the runout and a perturbation component induced by the runout. The instantaneous value of the nominal component is used to calibrate the cutting force coefficients. With the help of the perturbation component and the cutting force coefficients obtained above, the cutter runout is identified. Based on simulation and experimental results, the validity of the identification approach is demonstrated. The advantage of the proposed method lies in that the calibration performed with data of one cutting test under a specific regime can be applied for a great range of cutting conditions. 展开更多

In order to make the humanoid robot walk freely in complicated circumstance, the reliable capabilities for obtaining plane information from its surroundings are demanded. A system for extracting planes from data taken by stereo vision was presented, After the depth image was obtained, the pixels of each line were scanned and split into straight line segments. The neighbouring relation of line segments was kept in link structure. The groups of three line segments were selected as seed regions. A queue was maintained for storing seed regions, and then the plane region was expanded around the seed region. The process of region growing continued until the queue of seed regions was empty. After trimming, the edges of the planes became smooth. In the end, extracted planes were obtained. In the experiment, two models were used: pipe and stairs. Two planes in pipe mode/and six planes in stairs model were extracted exactly. The speed and precision of algorithm can satisfy the demands of humanoid robot's navigation. 展开更多

It has been elected numerical approach to the study and it is been realized through applied numerical model of the wing airfoil NACA 2412 for three different lengths of slotted gap size, whose length is expressed as percentages of the airfoil chord. This paper concerns the real time control of the boundary layer on an aircraft wing. This new approach consists in heating the surface in an unsteady regime using electrically resistant strips embedded in the wing skin. The control of the boundary layer's separation and transition point will provide a reduction in friction drag, and hence a reduction in fuel consumption. This new method consists in applying the required thermal power in the different strips in order to ensure the desired temperatures on the aircraft wing. We also have to determine the optimum size of these strips (length, width and distance between two strips). This implies finding the best mathematical model corresponding to the physics enabling us to facilitate the calculation for any type of material used for the wings. Secondly, the heating being unsteady, and, as during a flight the flow conditions or the ambient temperatures vary, the thermal power needed changes and must be chosen as fast as possible in order to ensure optimal operating conditions. 展开更多

A virtual prototyping model of the tractor-aircraft system based on Lagrange's equation of the first kind with Lagrange mutipliers was established in this paper, According to the towing characteristics, a path-tracking controller using fuzzy logic theory was designed. Direction control herein was carried out through a compensatory tracking approach. In fact aerodynamics bases are the same. In order to make some comparisons, this paper presents two series of experiments : one in a wind tunnel with an omithopter model for measurements of aerodynamic forces with flapping wings. The wing movement has two degrees of freedom flapping around the longitudinal axis of the model and feathering around the wing axis. Measurements of aerodynamic forces: rift and drag in static case averaging values during many cycles of movement and in dynamic case have been performed. The other part of the paper concerns velocity and turbulence measurements on a metal plane wall jet in a wind tunnel with and without a rough surface, with and without acoustic vibrations in order to simulate a plane wing. Aerodynamic characteristics have been obtained in all cases. 展开更多
