METHODS: Twenty nephrotic syndrome (NS) Wistar rats administrated adriamycin (ADR) with a single intravenous dose of 5 mg/kg body weight, were divided into the standard and high-lipid chow groups. Another 20 weight-matched non-NS rats that received a vehicle alone were grouped as control. Urinary protein excretion and serum cholesterol were assayed; image analysis and techniques of pathology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular biology were used to determine morphological changes in glomeruli and the production of glomerular mesangial matrices in different groups. RESULTS: The serum total cholesterol level was significantly higher in rats with high-lipid chow in both non-NS [(2.2 +/- 0.3) g/L vs. (0.9 +/- 0.1) g/L, P展开更多

Identification of black aspergilli at species level will be useful to make clear link between OTA contamination on food product and the toxin producer. The objective of this study was to identify the species of the black aspergilli producing OTA which contaminated dried agriculture products. In this study, 16 isolates were obtained, and four isolates among of them (YAC-9, YAK-6, YAK-12 and YAG-2) were found as OTA producing-strains, with the highest OTA found on Yeast Extract Sucrose (YES) solid medium of 57.68 ppb. Based on morphological characters, 16 isolates can be grouped into four species, after confirmation by molecular data based on PCR method, the groups were identified as A. carbonarius, A. niger, A. tubingensis and A. aculeatus. OTA producing-strains were identified as A. carbonarius and A. niger, meanwhile, A. tubingensis and A. aculeatus were found as non-OTA producing-strains.展开更多

It was conducted at CMFCRC, Chiangmai, Thailand between Dec. 2006 and Mar. 2007. Soybean was boiled for 5 hours and then fermented at different time to create natural bacterial species, mainly Bacillus spp. Thua-Nao could be stored up to 90 days after in storage. Nutritional value, food value, and microorganisms content were investigated during fermentation and storage. Also, aflatoxin content of Thua-Nao was recorded during storage. The results showed that 3 days of soybean fermentation gave the best performance of Thua-Nao in term of nutritional value (protein = 47.12%), food value, and content of Bacillus spp. (2.78 × 10^9 CFU/g). Without being harmed from aflatoxin, Thua-Nao could be stored not more than 23 days in normal room (Tmax. = 33.9 ℃, Tmin. = 15.8 ℃) and not more than 36 days in climate-controlled room (Tmax. = 20 ℃, Tmin. = 15 ℃).展开更多
