Therefore, it is very necessary to continuously carry out experiment teaching reform, improve experiment teaching methods and means, and comprehensively open laboratories so as to provide students with more opportunities of doing experiments. To improve the teaching effect of electronic information experimental courses, a network interactive virtual experimental platform is developed. This platform allows students to finish the construction of all kinds of circuit structures and test virtual instruments in a simulation environment, upload experimental data and also interactively communicate with teachers through the lnternet. The platform can be applied to the teaching activities of related electronic information experimental courses, and also can be used as an aid teaching method for theory teachers. Therefore, it possesses a very good interactivity, and makes up the disadvantages of the experimental teaching in hardware environment, so that a feasible solution is provided for the opening of laboratories.展开更多

CFD (computational fluid dynamics) is following the trend of CAD and FEA (finite element analysis) to undergraduate education especially with recent advances in commercial codes. It will soon take its place as an ...CFD (computational fluid dynamics) is following the trend of CAD and FEA (finite element analysis) to undergraduate education especially with recent advances in commercial codes. It will soon take its place as an expected skill for new engineering graduates. CFD was added as a component to an experiment in a junior level fluid mechanics course. The objectives were to introduce CFD, as an analysis tool, to the students and to support the theoretical concepts of the course. The students were asked to complete an experimental two-dimensional study for a wing in a wind tunnel, to use CFD to simulate the flow, and to predict the aerodynamic lift using CFD as well as the experimentally obtained pressure distribution. In addition, they had to compare their results to published data for the studied wing. Details of the course, the wind tunnel test and the CFD simulations are presented. Samples from the students' work are used in the discussion. The lab activities were successfully completed by the students and the learning objectives were well addressed. One of the valuable outcomes from this lab was the opportunity for the students to integrate multiple fluid mechanics analysis tools and learn about the limits for each tool. CFD also enhanced the learning in the lab activities and increased students' interest in the subject.展开更多

To achieve the purpose of the study, the researcher used an experimental design: an experimental group and a control group. The independent variable is using L1 while teaching English in very limited and specified areas. The dependent variable is students' achievement in general English. The statistics used is the t-test. The population of the study was all students enrolled in the foundation year 1431/1432 in the ELI (English Language Institute) at King Abdulaziz University. The sample of the study consisted of 50 students taking North Star in the sections A and B as a university requirement in the foundation year 1431/1432 in King Abdulaziz University. The results of the study were in favor of banning Arabic in the English language classroom as shown in the mean scores of the control and experimental groups in the tables. It is recommended that teachers and instructors should be trained to use teaching strategies that help them use English only in the English language classroom.展开更多

HCTCRB has been designed and used as a basis for empirical approaches and in empirical practices. T...Hydrated Cement Treated Crushed Rock Base (HCTCRB) is widely used as a base course in Western Australian pavements. HCTCRB has been designed and used as a basis for empirical approaches and in empirical practices. These methods are not all-encompassing enough to adequately explain the behaviour of HCTCRB in the field. Recent developments in mechanistic approaches have proven more reliable in the design and analysis of pavement, making it possible to more effectively document the characteristics of HCTCRB. The aim of this study was to carry out laboratory testing to assess the mechanical characteristics of HCTCRB. Conventional triaxial tests and repeated load triaxial tests (RLT tests) were performed. Factors affecting the performance of HCTCRB, namely hydration periods and the amount of added water were also investigated. It was found that the shear strength parameters of HCTCRB were 177 kPa for cohesion (c) and 42~ for the internal friction angle (~). The hydration period, and the water added in this investigation affected the performance of HCTCRB. However, the related trends associated with such factors could not be assessed. All HCTCRB samples showed stress-dependency behaviour. Based on the stress stages of this experiment, the resilient modulus values of HCTCRB ranged from 300 MPa to 1100 MPa. CIRCLY, a computer program based on the multi-layer elastic theory was used in the mechanistic approach to pavement design and analysis, to determine the performance of a typical pavement model using HCTCRB as a base course layer. The mechanistic pavement design parameters for HCTCRB as a base course material were then introduced. The analysis suggests that the suitable depth for HCTCRB as a base layer for WA roads is at least 185 mm for the design equivalent standard axle (ESA) of 10 million.展开更多

However, it should be implemented in the process of teaching according to the actual circumstances of the primary and secondary school students in China. In the teaching of comprehensive musicianship course, vocal music performance is applied as the main carrier in form and proceeds very rhythmically in the process of the whole time, and also thoughts and emotions are fully reflected by body languages. Method: In teaching, it takes the two classes of 2012 grade nursing major as the experiment object. The comparison class adopts traditonal and speaking-practice combination teaching method and the experiment class adopts task-driving teaching method. When the semester finishes, it conducts testing andd questionnaire survey, collecting the relevant data, analyzing the changes of students in the aspects of performance, learning interest and attitude, autonomous learning consciousness and ability after experiment class adopting new teaching methods. Result: The exam performance of experiment class is obviously higher than the comparison class, and the experiment class has an obvious improvement in the aspects of learning interest, autonomous learning consciousness and ability, and the difference has statistical significance. Conclusion: The task driving teaching method is suitable for the status of information foundation teaching in health vocational colleges, which improves students' performance significantly and is good for students' learning interest and enthusiasm, obtaining good classroom effect. Principles were...This article relates and reflects on my teaching experience spanning from spring 2009 through spring 2013, when I was engaged in constructing and reconstructing a course called "Reading Bestsellers." Principles were altered for the course design virtually each semester, starting from an attempt to offer variety in readings, undergoing a plan to downsize the reading list for neatness, and then a challenge to seek a balance between fiction and nonfiction. Despite the change of the principles, one principle has remained unchanged-the overarching principle of trial and error. Given this general guidance, I have reconstructed the course with a choice of high-end bestsellers. I have become aware that there should have been less concern about the boundaries between fiction and nonfiction than about the need to defy narrow categorization whenever necessary. Academic neatness may be desirable but impossible to tackle in-between intricacy, which proves to be the essence of life, and for that matter, the very essence of literature.展开更多
