A two factorial treatment combination made up of fertilization schemes and sanitary measures were laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replicates and 10 treatments. Data collected were subjected to a multivariate ANOVA and means separated with the Dunnett t-test with Calliandra calothyrsus considered as the main treatment. Mineral fertilizers and Calliandra calothyrsus significantly augmented stem diameter, plant height and plant vigor, total and marketable yields, despite the fact that late blight severity was high in the two treatments. The correlation matrix showed that total yield had significant and positive correlation with stem diameter (r = 0.74), plant height (r = 0.61), plant vigor (r = 0.61) and marketable yield (r = 0.99) and negative correlation (r = -37) with late blight severity. The increase observed is attributed to the nutrient contents of the treatments applied. Leafy prunings of C. calothyrsus increase soil organic matter which probably improves moisture retention and biological activity. The highest late blight severity recorded between the 45 and 60 coincides with active development of plant canopy which influences disease severity and create a canopy microclimate conducive to disease development. This study suggests that Calliandra calothyrsus has the potential of improving potato production provided appropriate fungicide is used.展开更多

The MPS (moving particle semi-implicit) method is one of particle methods that calculate behavior of incompressible fluid by semi-implicit method. In preceding studies, the MPS method has been extensively studied and developed for simulations of different phenomena involved in severe accident of nuclear reactors. This paper aims to investigate whether the MPS method is capable of analyzing the lower head ablation phenomenon. The small-scale experiment carried out at CRIEPI (Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry) using Pb-Bi vessel and silicone oil was analyzed for the validation of the MPS method. The MPS analysis well reproduced the experimental phenomena qualitatively. However, with respect to some quantitative results, more investigation such as influence of the calculation particle size is necessary.展开更多

We found that with increasing altitude, the GW potential energy (Ep) values in the stratosphere caused by convection decreases. The importance of GWs that are stimulated by topography is enhanced in this area. In the TP, which was considered to lack strong topographical GW activity, clear activity existed in the spring and winter of all studied years. Based on the latitudinal zone of the TP, the distribution of GW potential energy is highly consistent with the elevation of the local topography. The activities of topographical GWs are strongly filtered as they propagate upward to the area of zero speed wind. The analysis indicates that in the TP, clear orographic GW excitation exists and propagates upward to the upper stratosphere, where it is greatly influenced by the wind.展开更多

In this contribution, three retracking methods (threshold, improved threshold and Beta-5) are investigated with the aim of improving the altimeter data over a shallow water area. Comparison indicates that the improved threshold is the best retracking method over China Sea. Two ocean tide models, NAO99b and CSR4.0, are analyzed. Results show that different tide models used in the processing of altimeter data may result in differences more than 10 mGal in recovered coastal gravity anomalies. Also, NAO99b is more suitable than CSR4.0 over the shallow water area of China Sea. Finally, gravity anomalies over China Sea are calculated from retracked Geosat/GM and ERS-1/GM data by least squares collocation. Comparison with shipborne gravimetry data demonstrates that gravity anomalies from retracked data are significantly superior to those from non-retracked data. Our results have the same order as the other two altimeter-derived gravity models: Sandwell&Smith(V16) and DNSC08.展开更多
