The effect of this policy is yet to be proven. Based on the panel data of 283 Chinese cities between 1984 and 2012, this paper investigates the effect of high-tech zones on regional economic development. Empirical results suggest that first, national hightech zones have remarkably enhanced regional GDP and per capita GDP growth, and this conclusion still holds true after multiple rounds of robustness test; second, the economic effect of national high-tech zones is subject to diminishing marginal return and compared with higher-tier cities, lower-tier cities benefited more from the creation of national hightech zones. This paper concludes that national high-tech zones where special policies are experimented and offered not only drive economic development but, if properly distributed across regions, may help reduce regional economic disparities as well. The results of this study provide important implications for the future distribution of national high-tech zones and the creation of other relevant policies.展开更多

As an ideological and the political educators, it is necessary to continuously enhance the ability of dealing with the complex problems that is good at through the complex phenomenon of the ideological and political education, understanding and grasping the essence of the ideological and political education. Commercial remote sensing cameras have been developed vigorously throughout the world over the last few decades, resulting in resolutions down to 0.31 m. In 2010, the Chinese government approved the implementation of the China High-resolution Earth Observation System(CHEOS) Major Special Project, giving priority to development of high resolution remote sensing satellites. More than half of CHEOS has been constructed to date and 5 satellites operate in orbit. These cameras have different characteristics. A number of innovative technologies have been adopted, which have led to camera performance increasing in leaps and bounds. The products and the production capability enables the remote sensing technical level to increase making it on a par with Europe and the US.展开更多

Some local practices and experiences have developed further than theories previously established in China, and offer lessons for good governance in Asia. One of the new methods is the ＂deliberative system＂ through which local governments seek innovations in governance and increases the legitimacy of their policies. This study provides evidence for the effectiveness of this mechanism, mainly based on our survey conducted in Wenlin city, Zhejiang province, Southeast China.展开更多
