So, upper stream region of spray is high Weber number condition. However, even if the fuel is injected at high pressure, the downstream region of spray is corresponding to relatively low Weber number condition. Thus, KH (Kelvin-Helmholtz) model modeled for high Weber number conditions and MTAB (modified Taylor analogy breakup) model are used for primary and secondary breakup processes respectively. This study is focused on the development of new hybrid breakup model The calculations are performed by LES (large eddy simulation) incorporated into KIVA code. LES of non-evaporating diesel spray are performed using KH & RT (Rayleigh-Taylor) model, MTAB model and KH-MTAB model. Then, LES with these models were compared with experimental results. As the result, the availability of KH-MTAB model is showed. It is found that KH-MTAB is good agreement with experimental results of penetration and SMD (Sauter mean diameter) in relatively low density conditions.展开更多

The method includes several types of improved loss and deviation angle models, which are combined with the authors' adjustments for the purpose of reflecting the influences of three-dimensional internal flow in high-loaded multistage compressors with higher accuracy. In order to validate the reliability and robustness of the method, a series of test cases, including a subsonic compressor P&W 3S1, a transonic rotor NASA Rotor 1B and especially an advanced high pressure core compressor GE E^3 HPC, are conducted. Then the computation procedure is applied to the research of a 5-stage compressor which is designed for developing an industrial gas turbine. The overall performance and aerodynamic configuration predicted by the procedure, both at design- and part-speed conditions, are analyzed and compared with experimental results, which show a good agreement. Further discussion regarding the universality of the method compared with CFD is made afterwards. The throughflow method is verified as a reliable and convenient tool for aerodynamic design and performance prediction of modern high-loaded compressors. This method is also qualified for use in the further optimization of the 5-stage compressor.展开更多

Sensor calibration and resolution were obtained in different operational conditions using illumination in the 1550-nm band. Results obtained indicated the feasibility of interrogating such sensor via the optical ground wire (OPGW) link installed in standard high power grids. The polarimetric bulk optical current sensor also was theoretically studied, and the effects of different sources of error considering practical deployment were evaluated. In particular, the interference from external magnetic fields in a tree-phase system was analyzed.展开更多
