兰州市高教文化区的环境质量现状综合评价

高教文化区是一个城市的特定区域,区域聚集多所大中专院校和科研院所,人口密度大,环境污染影响范围广.运用模糊数学模型从大气、地表水、土壤、噪声四个方面对兰州市高教文化区的环境质量状况进行综合分析.结果显示:研究区域环境质量状况整体以优、良为主.对所研究的13个环境因子中PM10、溶解氧、粪大肠菌群均超标,在此基础上对超标因子进行污染源分析,并提出相关措施.

What Influences Cooperative Motivation of Foreign Brides From Southeast Asian Countries in Taiwan？

Because women in Taiwan have had more and more opportunities to receive higher education and engage in different kinds of work, they have had developed increasingly higher standards for their marriage partners. Men who are in the lower socioeconomic working classes such as those who work in agriculture, or fishing, or who are disabled can no longer compete in local marriage market. As a result, these men have begun to look for their brides from other countries to continue the family line, do the housework, and take care of their parents-in-law. In addition to the fact that these foreign brides are often young and from rural areas, language barriers and cultural differences make it difficult for them to raise and educate their children in Taiwan. The inability of these brides often leads to a higher percentage of children who are developmentally delayed, have poor pronunciation, behavior problems, and low academic achievement. Governmental agencies and schools recognize these issues and have tried to help foreign-born mothers take better care of their children. However, there are several influential factors that can limit the cooperative motivation of these foreign-born mothers, including language barriers, parenting stresses, low socioeconomic status, and cultural limitations. Therefore, governmental agencies and related professionals must take these factors into consideration to provide comprehensive services and a better learning environment.

Current Situation of Cultural Conflict Between Teachers and Students in English Classes Provided by Colleges and Universities and Effective Solutions

At present, quality education is proceeding in full swing in China. English education provided by colleges and universities of China has gone through a series of reform and gained relatively rapid development to a certain degree. English has become an international language, and most companies have listed English proficiency as an important requirement for hiring employees, which indicates that English teaching in classrooms of colleges and universities is of great importance. However, cultural conflict between teachers and students in English classes provided by colleges and universities has been gradually drawing people＇s attention and has an impact on quality of English teaching provided by colleges and universities. In this paper, the current situation of cultural conflict is introduced and several solutions for solving such cultural conflicts are put forward, which may be viewed as a reflection.

Teaching Writing to EFL/ESP Arab Learners： A Socioculturally Based Approach

Teaching writing to Arab EFL learners in general, and to students who have never been exposed to an Anglo-Saxon foreign language in particular in institutions of higher education, through incorporating culturally meaningful learning materials, can actually be enjoyable and fruitful. However, it can also be very challenging given the sociocultural and linguistic background of the learners as well as other factors related to the nature of the imported teaching materials from overseas. The challenge then is identifying and selecting materials for each particular class, as well as how to get students motivated and successfully engaged in the process of writing. This paper enlightens educators and language programs managers and planners about the mechanism of the writing process while incorporating the cultural components relevant to the learner, as well as drawing their attention to the benefits of engaging students in the actual process of writing and boosting their motivation via a meaningful socioculturally based approach.

Study of the Relationship Between the Organizational Climate and the Campus Ethical Issues of Universities across the Taiwan Strait

The study applied the approach of empirical studies to select 176 teachers in 9 universities in Taiwan and Inland in China to deliver questionnaires. The study intended to explore the influence of organizational climate on campus ethics and its diversity between the universities across the Taiwan strait. The study explored that the organizational climate in the universities across the Strait was not ethically high. Yet, the universities in Inland emphasized more on campus restraint in teachers behavior, job performance and their sense of belonging to the school.The study result demonstrated that improving leadership of the universities could enhance teachers identification with their schools and could promote the level of campus across the Strait.

Study of Culture Teaching in English Teaching of Senior Middle Schools

Language is a part of culture and the carrier of the culture. Foreign language study is not only the process of learning a language but also the process of taking the language as a means of information transmission to comprehend culture. With the implementation of the New Curriculum Standard （2017） in senior English, the notions of cultural awareness and culture instruction are being accepted and carried out in EFL （English as Foreign Language） classroom by English teachers. This paper tries to analyze the relationship between language and culture, the contents and goals in teaching foreign language and culture, the significance of teaching culture in foreign language education. This paper concludes with recommendations for improving culture teaching： Learning a foreign language is inseparable from learning its culture; The knowledge of culture differences may help students to make less pragmatic errors and become proficient in cross-cultural communication; Great efforts should also be paid to the development of the student’s cross-cultural awareness, and then the quality of English teaching could be really improved.

Impact of Intercultural Learning Program on Language Learners＇ Intercultural Competence

As institutions of higher education continue to internationalize, the number of exchanged students climbs ever higher in China. It is important to know what they have gained in the intercultural learning experiences in terms of attitudes, awareness, and knowledge, which are the three constructed dimensions of Intercultural Competence in this study. A qualitative research is conducted by using interview and seven English language learners are investigated to explore their learning outcomes in the intercultural learning program. From the thematic analysis of the interviews, it can be found that these English language learners＇ intercultural competence has been improved during their stay in USA. They successfully overcome cultural shock, hold positive attitudes toward target culture and people, become more confident in English study, and acquire more cultural knowledge. The research outcomes contribute to promoting intercultural learning effectiveness and improving learners＇ intercultural competence.

ON SELECTING CULTURAL ITEMS IN ENGLISH CULTURAL TEACHING AT HIGHER VOCATIONAL COLLEGES

Based on the fact that The English Teaching Syllabus at Higher Vocational Colleges doesn't mention the development of cultural awareness, the author attempts to select cultural items for students in English teaching at Higher Vocational Colleges. The author concludes the frequency of the common cultural mistakes that Chinese usually make in intercultural communication according to recent materials and documents on intercultural communication. The frequency of the cultural mistakes can be regarded as ' the frequency of cultural items that should appear in cultural teaching'. It has two functions. Firstly, it can be used as a parameter to measure the degree of necessity to choose this cultural item. Secondly, it can be used as a parameter to measure the relative degree of the importance of this cultural item, that is, as a parameter for us to determine that this item is more important than another. Then the author makes a comparison between the communicative functions in the Syllabus and the common cultural mistakes made by Chinese learners of English. Lastly, according to the findings above, the author obtains the main cultural items that students at Higher Vocational Colleges must learn.
