We report the case of a 62-year-old woman who experienced severe pain in the right iliac fossa and fever for about five days before arrival at our hospital. The presumptive diagnosis was acute purulent appendicitis and an emergency appendectomy was planned. Swelling and erythema were noted in a segment of the small bowel in the lower right abdomen. A tiny pointed object was found penetrating the inflamed portion of the bowel, which proved to be a sharp fish bone (gray snapper). The bone was removed, followed by segmental resection of the terminal ileum and ascending colon. The postoperative course was uneventful.展开更多

Thus, it is the flocculant with natural and inorganic origin including 24.7% Na, 11.5% Al, 19.6% Si, 22.5% S, 1.8% K, 19.0% Ca and 0.9% Fe. The experimental results showed that the Kiyomaru is a flocculation agent with ability to treat the turbidity and suspended solid in the catfish farming waters with very high sedimentation rate and removal efficiency. The efficiency of turbidity removal is from 98.7% to 99.1%, while that for TSS removal is from 93.5% to 95.2% using 0.2 mg/L of the flocculation agent. Beside those, the agent can remove the organic matters (BOD, COD) from 21.4% to 26.7%, Total N from 32.4% to 33.9% and Total P from 85.4% to 89.3%. When the concentration of this flocculate agent is 0.2 g/L, turbidity treatment efficiency can range from 98.7% to 99.1%; TSS treatment efficiency can range from 93.5% to 95.2%. Besides, this flocculation agent is also capable of reducing 21.4%-26.7% of the organic matter, 32.4% to 33.9% of Total N and 85.4% to 89.3% of Total P.展开更多

A 2×2 factorial design was used with two fish meal levels (0, 5%), and two sodium butyrate levels (0, 0.3%). There were 4 dietary treatments: control diet (CD); control diet supplemented with fish meal (CF), control diet supplemented with sodium butyrate (CB), control diet supplemented with fish meal and sodium butyrate (FB). A total of 44 28-days-old Large White×Landrace weanling piglets were randomly allotted into 4 treatment averagely. The experiment period was 14 days. The results showed that sodium butyrate's addition increased average diary gain (ADG), average diary feed intake (ADFI) and gain to feed intake ratio (G:F) of weanling piglets (all P〈0,05), improved gut morphology (mucosa thickness, ratio of villous height to crypt depth) and sucrase activity, and fish meal's addition increased maltase activity (all P〈0.05). Either sodium butyrate or fish meal addition decreased cecum colibacillus quantity, sodium butyrate increaded ratio of cecum lactobacilli to colibacillus (P〈0.05). Consequently, diarrhea was reduced in diet supplemented with fish meal (P=-0.08) and diet supplemented with sodium butyrate (P=0.15) through 14 days of experiment, significant reduction of diarrhea rate was observed in diet supplemented with fish meal through the first 7 days (P〈0.05). In addition, sodium butyrate and fish meal addition in diets tended to increase plasma GLP-2 concentration, however, GLP-2 concentration on the 4th day was consistently decreased in diet supplemented with fish meal relative to that on day 0 (P=0.08). Overall, it could be concluded that both sodium butyrate and fish meal addition improve intestinal development and sodium butyrate addition significantly increase growth performance. The gut trophic response to sodium butyrate or may be in agreement with development. peptide GLP-2 increases in fish meal addition in diet and the alteration of intestinal展开更多

Catch rates were the highest in April/May (5 8 kg/trap haul) and again in December (7 kg/trap haul). Bait type and trap size also affected catch rates and species composition. Of the seven baits tested, the best catch rates, 〉5 kg/trap haul, occurred with cuttlefish (Sepia pharaonis), but wolf-herring (Chiroeentrus dorab) and mullet (Liza klunzingeri) also produced good results (4-5 kg/trap haul). Within the five tested sizes, the two largest-sized traps captured more fish and larger size fish. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed significant differences of catch rate among traps with different baits as well as among traps of different sizes. Duncan test further revealed these differences between two specific baits and sizes. Cluster Analysis of species composition showed more differences among different baits than among different trap sizes. Longer soak times did not result in larger catch rates, but increased trap loss. About 10-day soak time resulted in trap loss 7%, while 40-day soak time could result in a loss of around 20%. Consequently, it is recommended that the gargoor be checked every 10 or fewer days. The average overall catch rate during the study period was lower than that of 1980s (4.5 vs. 5.8 kg/trap haul), indicating a possible decline offish abundance in Kuwait's waters. It is recommended that the number of gargoor fishing boats and gargoors from each boat should be limited to allow stock rehabilitation.展开更多

To observe the therapeutic effect of integrated treatment of peripheral facial paralysis by stages in Qinghai plateau area. Methods: A total of 2 240 cases of peripheral facial paralysis treated with integrated approaches by stages were assigned to treatment group, and other 75 cases treated with acupuncture therapy assigned to control group. In treatment group, patients were treated with 1 ) medication ( Prednisone, Dipazol, etc) and TDP (“special electromagnetic spectrum”) plus ultrashort irradiation in the early stage;2) TDP plus ultrasonic wave irradiation and acupuncture of Yangbai (阳白 GB 14) to Yuyac (鱼腰EX-HN 4, penetration needling), etc in the medium stage; 3) medium-frequency irradiation and electroacupuncture (EA) of muscle motor joints and acupoints (GB-14, etc). Patients of control group were treated with conventional acupuncture therapy (GB-14, etc). Results: After treatment, of the 2 240 patients in treatment group, 2 072 (92.5%) were cured, 120 (5.3%) effective, 33 ( 1.5% ) improved, and 15 (0.7%) failed. The total effective rate was 99.3%. Of the 75 cases in control group, 46 (61.3%) were cured, 16 (21.3%) effective, 9 (12.0%) improved, and 4 (5.4%) ineffective. The total effective rate was 94.6%. The cure rate and the total effective rate of treatment group were significantly higher than those of control group respectively (x^2=29.379, P〈0.01; x^2 =5. 716, P〈0. 025). Conclusion: The therapeutic effect of integrated approaches (medication, acupuncture, electromagnetic + ultrashort wave + ultrasonic wave + medium-frequency wave irradiation) is significantly superior to that of simple acupuncture therapy in treating peripheral facial paralysis.展开更多

In the control diet (Diet 1), FM protein was replaced with increasing dietary levels of ESBM (4.28%, 8.40%, 12.62%, 16.82%, and 25.26%) at 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 60% levels (Diets 2 to 6, respectively). An eight-week feeding trial was conducted on 720 juvenile shrimp (0.67 g ± 0.01 g mean initial Weight), and nutrient digestibility of the six diets was determined. ESBM could replace 20% of FM without causing a significant reduction in growth of shrimp, but other dietary treatments strongly affected whole body composition. Crude protein content of the whole body fed Diet 6 was significantly lower than that fed Diet 2 (P〈0.05), while crude lipid content of the whole body fed Diet 5 or 6 was significantly higher than that fed Diet 2 (P〈0,05). Protein digestibilities of Diets 5 and 6 were significantly lower than that of Diet 1 (P〈0.05). Digestibility of lipids ranged from 96.97% in Diet 6 to 98.34% in Diet 3, whereas dry matter digestibility decreased with increasing replacement level. This study indicates that 20% FM replacement with ESBM in the basic diet containing 40% protein and 30% FM is optimal for juvenile L. vannamei.展开更多
