However, it has been well known that the corresponding gear pairs are relatively weak under the situation of impact loadings. To improve this phenomenon, a new pretensioning gear system with cycloid teeth rather than the involute ones was proposed, and dual cycloidal gear mechanisms were designed for satisfying geometric constraints and dynamic loading conditions. The simulations of the prototypes were conducted by LS-DYNA program and the experiments for a prototype were performed for a dynamic model with impact loading devices. The results show that the better operation and the smoother motion are confirmed in the proposed cycloidal gear system rather than the conventional one without interferences between gear teeth under the impact of a crash.展开更多

Different applications: transmission, conveying or controlling have different meshing in gear. The work presents meshing model between timing belt and pulley and constructional features of transmission timing belts depending on materials used for their production. While designing timing belt, much attention should be paid to selection of materials, which has significant influence on mechanical properties of belts. This paper attempts to identify the model material and the nature of cooperation of timing belt-pulley; this is basic knowledge for the development of timing belt gear.展开更多

Therefore, accurate predic- tions of the population size of A. agrarius and an efficient control strategy are urgently needed. We developed a population dynamics model by applying a Leslie matrix method, and a capture model based on optimal harvesting theory for A. agrarius. Our models were parametrized using demographic estimates from a capture-mark-recapture (CMR) study conducted on the Qinshui Forest Farm in Northwestern China. The population dynamics model incorporated 12 equally balanced age groups and included immigra- tion and emigration parameters. The model was evaluated by assessing the predictions for four years based on the known starting population in 2004 from the 2004-2007 CMR data. The capture model incorporated two functional age categories (juvenile and adult) and used density-dependent and density-independent factors. The models were used to assess the effect of rodent control measures between 2004 and 2023 on population dynamics and the resulting numbers of rats. Three control measures affecting survival rates were considered. We found that the predicted population dynamics of A. agrarius between 2004 and 2007 compared favorably with the observed population dynamics. The models predicted that the population sizes of A. agrarius in the period between 2004 and 2023 under the control measure applied in August 2004 were very similar to the optimal population sizes, and no significant difference was found between the two pop- ulation sizes. We recommend using the population dynamics and capture models based on CMR-estimated demographic schedules for rodent, provided these data are available. The models that we have developed have the potential to play an important role in pre- dicting the effects of rodent management and in evaluating different control strategies.展开更多

This paper presents a method for detection and quantification of the meshing characteristics of the harmonic drive gear based on computer vision. First, an experimental set-up that integrates a high speed camera system with a lighting system is developed, and the image processing is adopted to extract and polish the tooth profiles of the meshed teeth pairs in each acquired video sequence. Next, a physical-mathematical model is established to determine the relative positions of the selected tooth pair in the process of the gear engagement, and the combined standard uncertainty is utilized to evaluate the accuracy of the calculated kinematics parameters. Last, the kinematics analysis of the gear engagement under the ultra-low speed condition is performed with our method and previous method, and the influence of the input rotational speed on the results is examined. The results validate the effectiveness of our method, and indicate that the conventional method is not available in the future friction analysis. It is also shown that the engaging-in phase is approximately a uniform motion process, the engaging-out phase is a variable motion process, and these characteristics remain unchanged with the variation of the input rotational speed. Our method affords the ability to understand the frictional mechanism on the meshed contact surfaces of the harmonic drive gear, and also allows for the dynamic monitoring of the meshing properties.展开更多
