The remains include a city-site, house-foundations, ash-pits and wells; and the objects embrace stone, bone and shell artifacts and pottery vessels. According to stratigraphical evidence and the typological evolution of objects, the remains are divided into three periods with six stages, each further falling into two sub-stages. The first period goes back to 2800-2500 BC; the second, 2400-2300 BC, and the third, 2300-2100 BC. The complex originated from the local Yangshao culture and shows distinct features of its own. Being clear in origin and rich in cultural content, it represents the local variant of the Longshan culture and thus can be called Mengzhuang type.展开更多
