Background:Taxus cuspidata S.et Z.is a precious species of frigid zone plant belonging to the Taxaceae family, which possesses anticancer,anti-inflammatory,hypoglycemic,and antibacterial pharmacological properties. While taxane extracted from Taxus chinensis has been reported to elicit antioxidant activities, whether Taxus cuspidata S.et Z.has skin-protective actions against injuries remained unknown. This study aims to explore the pharmacological effects of three Taxus extracts on skin melanin deposition, oxidation, inflammation, and allergy so as to provide new ideas for the prevention and treatment of various diseases related to skin damage. Methods:Skin melanin deposition was evaluated by measuring melanin content in the skin of guinea pigs by alkali lysis method.Antioxidant capacity was evaluated by measuring superoxide dismutase(SOD)concentration and glutathione(GSH)content in skin tissue homogenates of Kunming mice by SOD assay kit and micro reduced GSH assay kit.The quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR)and western blotting were used to examine the levels of both SOD and recombinant glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4).Skin inflammation was evaluated by xylene-induced ear swelling test and egg-white-induced paw swelling test in mice.In a mouse model of skin allergy induced by 4-aminopyridine(4-AP),allergy was determined by licking body counts and histamine concentrations in tissue homogenates using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)kits. Two proinflammatory factors tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-αand interleukin(IL)-1βwere measured by qRT-PCR.Hematoxylin and eosin(HE)staining was conducted to assess the degree of skin lesion. Results:All three Taxus extracts including Taxus chinensis essential oil,Taxus chinensis extract and Taxus chinensis extract compound reduced the melanin deposits in the back skin relative to the non-treated control animals,of which Taxus chinensis essential oil produced the greatest effect. In contrast, the three Taxus extracts elevated SOD and GSH levels in the skin tissues, and the highest increase was seen with Taxus chinensis essential oil.Three Taxus extracts, especially Taxus chinensis essential oil, effectively reduce the rate of ear and paw swelling. All three Taxus extracts reduced the number of body licks, the levels of TNF-αand IL-1β,and the histamine content in tissue homogenates of mice and alleviated skin damage.Consistently,Taxus chinensis essential oil yielded the greatest magnitude of decreases. Conclusion:While all three Taxus extracts possessed the anti-skin melanin deposition, oxidation, and allergy properties,Taxus chinensis essential oil produced the superior effects. 展开更多

In-situ stress is a common stress in the exploration and development of oil reservoirs. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the propagation characteristics of borehole acoustic waves in fluid-saturated porous media under stress.Based on the acoustoelastic theory of fluid-saturated porous media, the field equation of fluid-saturated porous media under the conditions of confining pressure and pore pressure and the acoustic field formula of multipole source excitation in open hole are given. The influences of pore pressure and confining pressure on guided waves of multipole borehole acoustic field in fluid-saturated porous media are investigated. The numerical results show that the phase velocity and excitation intensity of guided wave increase significantly under the confining pressure. For a given confining pressure, the phase velocity of the guided wave decreases with pore pressure increasing. The excitation intensity of guided wave increases at low frequency and then decreases at high frequency with pore pressure increasing, except for that of Stoneley wave which decreases in the whole frequency range. These results will help us get an insight into the influences of confining pressure and pore pressure on the acoustic field of multipole source in borehole around fluid-saturated porous media. 展开更多

Tuberculous otitis media(TOM) is a rare manifestation caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis with low incidence rates among extrapulmonary tuberculosis cases. Diagnosis is often delayed because of the presence of several clinical manifestations and the high prevalence of secondary bacterial infections. Few reports have attributed secondary bacterial infections in patients with TOM to commensal Neisseria. Thus, understanding the pathogenic mechanisms and clinical features of commensal Neisseria is important, considering its recent presentation as an infection-causing pathogen. Neisseria mucosa is a commensal inhabitant in humans and is generally considered non-pathogenic but can cause infection in rare cases. Here, we report an atypical secondary infection caused by Neisseria mucosa in an 81-year-old woman with TOM being treated for pulmonary tuberculosis. Direct purulent otorrhea smear microscopy revealed no acid-fast bacilli using Ziehl-Neelsen staining, whereas the phagocytosis of gram-negative cocci by white blood cells was confirmed using Gram staining. Otorrhea culture revealed the growth of N. mucosa. Subsequently, M. tuberculosis infection in the otorrhea was identified using a culture-based method. Vigilance is critical for the early detection of TOM to prevent further complications. This report raises awareness regarding TOM and provides insight into the pathogenicity of N. mucosa in otitis media. 展开更多

Media convergence works by processing information from different modalities and applying them to different domains. It is difficult for the conventional knowledge graph to utilise multi-media features because the introduction of a large amount of information from other modalities reduces the effectiveness of representation learning and makes knowledge graph inference less effective. To address the issue,an inference method based on Media Convergence and Rule-guided Joint Inference model(MCRJI)has been pro-posed.The authors not only converge multi-media features of entities but also introduce logic rules to improve the accuracy and interpretability of link prediction.First,a multi-headed self-attention approach is used to obtain the attention of different media features of entities during semantic synthesis.Second, logic rules of different lengths are mined from knowledge graph to learn new entity representations. Finally, knowledge graph inference is performed based on representing entities that converge multi-media features.Numerous experimental results show that MCRJI outperforms other advanced baselines in using multi-media features and knowledge graph inference, demonstrating that MCRJI provides an excellent approach for knowledge graph inference with converged multi-media features. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Despite advances in research on psychopathology and social media use,no comprehensive review has examined published papers on this type of research and considered how it was affected by the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)outbreak.AIM To explore the status of research on psychopathology and social media use before and after the COVID-19 outbreak.METHODS We used Bibliometrix(an R software package)to conduct a scientometric analysis of 4588 relevant studies drawn from the Web of Science Core Collection,PubMed,and Scopus databases.RESULTS Such research output was scarce before COVID-19,but exploded after the pandemic with the publication of a number of high-impact articles.Key authors and institutions, located primarily in developed countries, maintained their core positions, largely uninfluenced by COVID-19;however,research production and collaboration in developing countries increased significantly after COVID-19.Through the analysis of keywords,we identified commonly used methods in this field, together with specific populations, psychopathological conditions, and clinical treatments.Researchers have devoted increasing attention to gender differences in psychopathological states and linked COVID-19 strongly to depression, with depression detection becoming a new trend.Developments in research on psychopathology and social media use are unbalanced and uncoordinated across countries/regions,and more indepth clinical studies should be conducted in the future.CONCLUSION After COVID-19,there was an increased level of concern about mental health issues and a changing emphasis on social media use and the impact of public health emergencies. 展开更多

Based on the tortuous capillary network model, the relationship between anisotropic permeability and rock normal strain, namely the anisotropic dynamic permeability model(ADPM),was derived and established. The model was verified using pore-scale flow simulation. The uniaxial strain process was calculated and the main factors affecting permeability changes in different directions in the deformation process were analyzed. In the process of uniaxial strain during the exploitation of layered oil and gas reservoirs, the effect of effective surface porosity on the permeability in all directions is consistent. With the decrease of effective surface porosity, the sensitivity of permeability to strain increases. The sensitivity of the permeability perpendicular to the direction of compression to the strain decreases with the increase of the tortuosity, while the sensitivity of the permeability in the direction of compression to the strain increases with the increase of the tortuosity. For layered reservoirs with the same initial tortuosity in all directions, the tortuosity plays a decisive role in the relative relationship between the variations of permeability in all directions during pressure drop. When the tortuosity is less than 1.6,the decrease rate of horizontal permeability is higher than that of vertical permeability, while the opposite is true when the tortuosity is greater than 1.6.This phenomenon cannot be represented by traditional dynamic permeability model. After the verification by experimental data of pore-scale simulation, the new model has high fitting accuracy and can effectively characterize the effects of deformation in different directions on the permeability in all directions. 展开更多

This study presents a method for the inverse analysis of fluid flow problems. The focus is put on accurately determining boundary conditions and characterizing the physical properties of granular media, such as permeability, and fluid components, like viscosity. The primary aim is to deduce either constant pressure head or pressure profiles, given the known velocity field at a steady-state flow through a conduit containing obstacles, including walls, spheres, and grains. The lattice Boltzmann method(LBM)combined with automatic differentiation(AD)(AD-LBM)is employed, with the help of the GPU-capable Taichi programming language.A lightweight tape is used to generate gradients for the entire LBM simulation, enabling end-to-end backpropagation. Our AD-LBM approach accurately estimates the boundary conditions for complex flow paths in porous media, leading to observed steady-state velocity fields and deriving macro-scale permeability and fluid viscosity. The method demonstrates significant advantages in terms of prediction accuracy and computational efficiency, making it a powerful tool for solving inverse fluid flow problems in various applications. 展开更多

To explore the relationship between social influence, social comparison, clarity of self-concept,and psychological anxiety among young women during their usage of social networking sites, our study selected 338 young women aged 14-34 from the social site platforms of Little Red Book and Weibo for questionnaire surveys. The Passive Social Network Utilization Scale,Social Comparison Scale(SCS),Social Influence Questionnaire,Self-Concept Clarity Scale(SCCS),and Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale(GAD-7)were employed to measure the subjects. Our results show that the frequency of passive social media use is positively related to the level of psychological anxiety.Social comparison, social influence, and unclear self-concepts under social media use are negatively predictive of psychological anxiety. The chain mediation effects indicate that social comparison and social influence under social media use negatively predict the clarity of self-concept,thus having a negative impact on the psychological health of young women. Therefore, young women should strengthen their self-concepts,control their frequency of social media usage, avoid addiction, and pay special attention to their frequency of passive use,in order to protect their psychological health. Our study provides some practical implications and insights regarding the relationship between young women’s social media use and psychological health. 展开更多

Recent advances in deep neural networks have shed new light on physics, engineering, and scientific computing.Reconciling the data-centered viewpoint with physical simulation is one of the research hotspots. The physicsinformedneural network(PINN)is currently the most general framework, which is more popular due to theconvenience of constructing NNs and excellent generalization ability. The automatic differentiation(AD)-basedPINN model is suitable for the homogeneous scientific problem;however,it is unclear how AD can enforce fluxcontinuity across boundaries between cells of different properties where spatial heterogeneity is represented bygrid cells with different physical properties. In this work,we propose a criss-cross physics-informed convolutionalneural network(CC-PINN)learning architecture, aiming to learn the solution of parametric PDEs with spatialheterogeneity of physical properties. To achieve the seamless enforcement of flux continuity and integration ofphysicalmeaning into CNN,a predefined 2D convolutional layer is proposed to accurately express transmissibilitybetween adjacent cells. The efficacy of the proposedmethodwas evaluated through predictions of several petroleumreservoir problems with spatial heterogeneity and compared against state-of-the-art(PINN)through numericalanalysis as a benchmark, which demonstrated the superiority of the proposed method over the PINN. 展开更多

Multiphase flow in low permeability porous media is involved in numerous energy and environmental applications. However,a complete description of this process is challenging due to the limited modeling scale and the effects of complex pore structures and wettability. To address this issue, based on the digital rock of low permeability sandstone,a direct numerical simulation is performed considering the interphase drag and boundary slip to clarify the microscopic water-oil displacement process. In addition,a dual-porosity pore network model(PNM)is constructed to obtain the water-oil relative permeability of the sample. The displacement efficiency as a recovery process is assessed under different wetting and pore structure properties. Results show that microscopic displacement mechanisms explain the corresponding macroscopic relative permeability. The injected water breaks through the outlet earlier with a large mass flow, while thick oil films exist in rough hydrophobic surfaces and poorly connected pores. The variation of water-oil relative permeability is significant, and residual oil saturation is high in the oil-wet system. The flooding is extensive, and the residual oil is trapped in complex pore networks for hydrophilic pore surfaces;thus, water relative permeability is lower in the water-wet system. While the displacement efficiency is the worst in mixed-wetting systems for poor water connectivity.Microporosity negatively correlates with invading oil volume fraction due to strong capillary resistance, and a large microporosity corresponds to low residual oil saturation. This work provides insights into the water-oil flow from different modeling perspectives and helps to optimize the development plan for enhanced recovery. 展开更多

The expression and clinical significance of relevant cytokines in otitis media (OM) are discussed, and the alterations to the pathological state of the otitis media mucosa are further understood through the study of cytokine transduction pathways. More and more studies have shown that relevant cell proliferation and inflammation progression pathways play a role in the development of otitis media, such as the Jun amino-terminal protein kinase (JNK) mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway, the NF-κB signaling pathway, and the PI3K/AKT/PTEN pathway, which are involved in the proliferation of the middle ear mucosa during otitis media, which affects the mucosal cilia, motor function, Eustachian tube function, and the mucosal ciliary function. These studies provide new ideas for the treatment of otitis media and further explore the feasibility of immunotherapy in the future treatment of otitis media. In this paper, we present a review of the latest research progress on the expression of various cytokines in otitis media. 展开更多
