The measured total neutron ambient dose equivalent rates, H*(10)' tot, were analyzed to obtain the direct neutron ambient dose equivalent rates, H*(10)' dir, using the ISO 8529-2-recommended generalized- fit method, semiempirical fit method, and reducedfitting method (RFM) fit methods. The calibration factor (CF), defined as the ratio between the conventional true value of the neutron ambient dose equivalent rates in a free field, H*(10)' FF, and H*(10)' dir, was evaluated as one of the important characteristics of the neutron meters in the present work. The fitting results show that the H*(10)' dir values of the meters are in good agreement within the theoretical data within 4%. The averaged CFs of the three neutron meters were evaluated as 0:99 ± 0:01, 1:00 ± 0.03;and 0:99 ± 0:08, respectively. The largest standard uncertainty of these values was determined to be approximately 18.47%(k =1). The standard uncertainty of the CFs obtained using the RFM method was less than 4.23%(k=1), which is the smallest uncertainty among the three methods.展开更多

Then, in order to calibrate the parameters affected by the random colored noise, the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm is introduced. Through the use of geometric parameters calibrated by the traditional calibration method, the iterations under the EM framework are decreased and the efficiency of the proposed method on embedded system is improved. The performance of the proposed kinematic calibration method is compared to the traditional calibration method. Furthermore, the feasibility of the proposed method is verified on the EI-MoCap system. The simulation and experiment demonstrate that the motion capture precision is significantly improved by 16.79%and 7.16%respectively in comparison to the traditional calibration method.展开更多

Calibration plays a crucial role in these efforts by ensuring the quantitative assessment of emissions for informed decisions on environmental treatments. This paper describes a method for the calibration of CO/CO2 monitors used for periodic inspections of vehicles in cites. The calibration was performed in the selected ranges: 900 - 12,000 µmol/mol for CO and 2000 - 20,000 µmol/mol for CO2. The traceability of the measurement results to the SI units was ensured by using certified reference materials from CO/N2 and CO2/N2 primary gas mixtures. The method performance was evaluated by assessing its linearity, accuracy, precision, bias, and uncertainty of the calibration results. The calibration data exhibited a strong linear trend with R² values close to 1, indicating an excellent fit between the measured values and the calibration lines. Precision, expressed as relative standard deviation (%RSD), ranged from 0.48 to 4.56% for CO and from 0.97 to 3.53% for CO2, staying well below the 5% threshold for reporting results at a 95% confidence level. Accuracy measured as percent recovery, was consistently high (≥ 99.1%) for CO and ranged from 84.90% to 101.54% across the calibration range for CO2. In addition, the method exhibited minimal bias for both CO and CO2 calibrations and thus provided a reliable and accurate approach for calibrating CO/CO2 monitors used in vehicle inspections. Thus, it ensures the effectiveness of exhaust emission control for better environment.展开更多

Firstly, a dual-camera system is constructed for photographing and collecting the rotating image sequence of two flat targets rigidly connected by a long rod at different positions, and based on the known parameters, such as, target feature image, world coordinates, camera internal parameters and so on, then the global PnP optimization method is used to solve the rotation axis and the reference point at different positions; Then, the absolute orientation matrix is constructed based on the parameters of rotation axis, reference point and connecting rod length obtained by this method. In the end, the singular value decomposition method is used to find the optimal rotation matrix, and then get the translation matrix. It’s shown based on simulation and actual tests that in comparison with the existing methods, the maximum attitude and pose errors is 0.0083˚ and 0.3657 mm, respectively, which improves the accuracy by 27.8% and 24.4%, respectively. The calibration device in this paper is simple, and there are no parallel, vertical and coplanar requirements between multiple rotating positions. At the same time, in view of the calibration accuracy, the accuracy requirements of most application scenarios can be met.展开更多

There is a need to understand the growth and yield behavior of this crop in varying production environments of Bangladesh. Crop model such as Decision Support System For Agro-technology Transfer (DSSAT) version 4.6 (DSSAT hereafter) can be utilized cost effectively to study the performances of maize under different production environments. It needs to calibrate and validate DSSAT model for commonly cultivated maize cultivars in Bangladesh and subsequently take the model to various applications, including inputs and agronomic management options and climate change that impacts analyses. So, the present study was undertaken to firstly calibrate DSSAT model for popular four hybrid maize cultivars (BARI Hybrid Maize-7, BARI Hybrid Maize-9, Pioneer 30B07 and NK-40). Subsequently, it proceeded with the validation with independent field data sets for evaluating their growth performances. The genetic coefficients for these cultivars were evaluated by using Genotype coefficient calculator (GENCALC) and Generalized likelihood uncertainty estimation (GLUE) module of DSSAT on the basis of first season experiment. The performance of the model was satisfactory and within the significant limits. After calibration, the model was tested for its performance through validation procedure by using second season data. The model performed satisfactorily through phenology, biomass, leaf area index (LAI) and grain yield. Phenology, as estimated through days to flower initiation and maturity, was in good agreement, although simulated results were slightly over predicted compared to observed values but within the statistical significance limit...when compared with observed values at specific growth stages of the crop. The final yield values (10.12 to 10.59 t·ha-1) were in close agreement with the observed values (10.16 to 10.94 t·ha-1), as the percentage error was within tolerable limit (0.39% to 6.81%). The model has been successfully calibrated and validated for Gazipur environment and now can be used for climate change impact studies for similar environments in Bangladesh.展开更多

The spectral information of a point target is imaged on the pixels covered by a microlens. The pixels receive spectral information from different spectral filters to the diffraction and misalignments of the optical components. In this paper, we present a linear spectral multiplexing model of the acquired target spectrum. A calibration method is proposed for calibrating the center wavelengths and bandwidths of channels of an LFMIS system based on the liner-variable filter (LVF) and for determining the spectral multiplexing matrix. In order to improve the accuracy of the restored spectral data, we introduce a reconstruction algorithm based on the total least square (TLS) approach. Simulation and experimental results confirm the performance of the spectrum reconstruction algorithm and validate the feasibility of the proposed calibrating scheme.展开更多

However, the stiffness of the infill wall is generally either ignored or considered by simplified empirical criteria that lead to a period shortening. The difference can be greatly decreased by using a structural identification methodology. In this study, an ambient vibration test was performed on four on-site reinforced concrete high-rise buildings, and the design results were compared with the PKPM models using corresponding finite element(FE) models. A diagonal strut model was used to simulate the behavior of the infill wall, and the identified modal parameters measured from the on-site test were employed to calibrate the parameters of the diagonal strut in the FE models. The SAP2000 models with calibrated elastic modulus were used to evaluate the seismic response in the elastic state. Based on the load-displacement relationship of the infill wall, nonlinear dynamic analysis models were built in PERFORM-3 D and calibrated using the measured modal periods. The analysis results revealed that the structural performance under small/large earthquake records were both strengthened by infill walls, and the contribution of infill walls should be considered for better accuracy in the design process.展开更多

However, the methods are not suited to directly integrate dynamic production data, such as, hydraulic head and solute concentration, into the study of conductivity distribution. These data, which record the flow and transport processes in the medium, are closely related to the spatial distribution of hydraulic conductivity. In this study, a three-dimensional gradient-based inverse method--the sequential self-calibration (SSC) method--is developed to calibrate a hydraulic conductivity field, initially generated by a geostatistical simulation method, conditioned on tracer test results. The SSC method can honor both local hydraulic conductivity measurements and tracer test data. The mismatch between the simulated hydraulic conductivity field and the reference true one, measured by its mean square error (MSE), is reduced through the SSC conditional study. In comparison with the unconditional results, the SSC conditional study creates the mean breakthrough curve much closer to the reference true curve, and significantly reduces the prediction uncertainty of the solute transport in the observed locations. Further, the reduction of uncertainty is spatially dependent, which indicates that good locations, geological structure, and boundary conditions will affect the efficiency of the SSC study results.展开更多

According to the attenuation law of explosions and the propagation theory of elastic waves, the calibration function is calculated for near field quakes from 0km to 5km. Magnitudes of two aftershock sequences are calculated. The magnitudes of most explosion earthquakes are small, ranging mainly from magnitude -0.5 to 1.0. The M-t chart of the explosive aftershocks is completely different from that of strong earthquake aftershocks. It not only shows positive columnar lines indicating large magnitudes but also short negative columnar lines indicating small magnitudes.展开更多

文摘Radon observation is an important measurement item of seismic precursor network observation. The radon detector calibration is a key technical link for ensuring radon observation accuracy. At present, the radon detector calibration in seismic systems in China is faced with a series of bottleneck problems, such as aging and scrap, acquisition difficulties, high supervision costs, and transportation limitations of radon sources. As a result,a large number of radon detectors cannot be accurately calibrated regularly, seriously affecting the accuracy and reliability of radon observation data in China. To solve this problem,a new calibration method for radon detectors was established. The advantage of this method is that the dangerous radioactive substance,i.e.,the radon source, can be avoided, but only“standard instruments”and water samples with certain dissolved radon concentrations can be used to realize radon detector calibration. This method avoids the risk of radioactive leakage and solves the current widespread difficulties and bottleneck of radon detector calibration in seismic systems in China. The comparison experiment with the traditional calibration method shows that the error of the calibration coefficient obtained by the new method is less than 5%compared with that by the traditional method, which meets the requirements of seismic observation systems, confirming the reliability of the new method. This new method can completely replace the traditional calibration method of using a radon source in seismic systems.

文摘This study presents a kinematic calibration method for exoskeletal inertial motion capture (EI-MoCap) system with considering the random colored noise such as gyroscopic drift. In this method, the geometric parameters are calibrated by the traditional calibration method at first. The simulation and experiment demonstrate that the motion capture precision is significantly improved by 16.79%and 7.16%respectively in comparison to the traditional calibration method.
文摘Global efforts for environmental cleanliness through the control of gaseous emissions from vehicles are gaining momentum and attracting increasing attention. Thus, it ensures the effectiveness of exhaust emission control for better environment.

文摘The tensile-shear interactive damage(TSID)model is a novel and powerful constitutive model for rock-like materials. This study proposes a methodology to calibrate the TSID model parameters to simulate sandstone. The basic parameters of sandstone are determined through a series of static and dynamic tests, including uniaxial compression,Brazilian disc, triaxial compression under varying confining pressures, hydrostatic compression, and dynamic compression and tensile tests with a split Hopkinson pressure bar.Based on the sandstone test results from this study and previous research,a step-by-step procedure for parameter calibration is outlined, which accounts for the categories of the strength surface, equation of state(EOS),strain rate effect, and damage. The calibrated parameters are verified through numerical tests that correspond to the experimental loading conditions.Consistency between numerical results and experimental data indicates the precision and reliability of the calibrated parameters. The methodology presented in this study is scientifically sound, straightforward, and essential for improving the TSID model.Furthermore,it has the potential to contribute to other rock constitutive models, particularly new user-defined models.
文摘To make the problems of existing high requirements of calibration tools, complex global calibration process addressed for monocular multi-view visual measurement system during measurement, in the paper, a global calibration method is proposed for the geometric properties of rotational correlation motion and the absolute orientation of the field of view without over lap. At the same time, in view of the calibration accuracy, the accuracy requirements of most application scenarios can be met.

文摘This paper presents the calibration of a neutron dose rate meter and the evaluation of its calibration factors(CFs)in several neutron standard fields(i.e.,two standard fields with bare sources of252Cf and241Am-Be,and five simulated workplace fields with241Am-Be moderated sources). The calibration in standard fields with bare sources was conducted by following the recommendations of the ISO 8529 standard. The measured total neutron ambient dose equivalent rates, denoted as H*(10)tot,were analyzed to obtain direct components, denoted as H*(10)dir,using a reduced fitting method. The CF was then calculated as the ratio between the conventional true value of the neutron ambient dose equivalent rate in a free field, denoted as H*(10)FF,and the value of H*(10)dir.In contrast,in the simulated workplace neutron fields, the calibration of the neutron dose rate meter was conducted by following the ISO 12789 standard. The CF was calculated as the ratio between the values of H*(10)totmeasured by a standard instrument(i.e.,Bonner sphere spectrometer)and the neutron dose rate meter. The CF values were obtained in the range of 0.88–1.0.The standard uncertainties(k=1)of the CFs were determined to be in the range of approximately 6.6–13.1%.
文摘Maize is an emerging important crop in Bangladesh because of its high yield potential and economic profitability compared to rice and wheat crops. The model has been successfully calibrated and validated for Gazipur environment and now can be used for climate change impact studies for similar environments in Bangladesh.

文摘A light field modulated imaging spectrometer (LFMIS) can acquire the spatial-spectral datacube of targets of interest or a scene in a single shot. Simulation and experimental results confirm the performance of the spectrum reconstruction algorithm and validate the feasibility of the proposed calibrating scheme.

文摘As a type of nonstructural component, infill walls play a significant role in the seismic behavior of high-rise buildings. The analysis results revealed that the structural performance under small/large earthquake records were both strengthened by infill walls, and the contribution of infill walls should be considered for better accuracy in the design process.

文摘For high precision calibration of camera with large field-of-view,massive calibration points will be needed if traditional methods are selected, which makes the calibration complex and time-consuming.In order to solve this problem,a calibration method based on flexible planar target is proposed. In this method, distortion factor is firstly acquired by the invariance of cross ratio, and existing feature points are adjusted with the distortion factor. Then,a large number of points that will be used for the calibration are constructed with the adjusted feature points.Simultaneously,Tsai method is modified so as to reduce the complexity of calibration, which makes the process linear. The simulation and real experiments show that the method proposed in this paper is simple, linear, accurate and robust, and the precision of this method is close to that of Tsai method using abundant points. The method can satisfy the requirement of high precision calibration for camera with large field-of-view.

文摘On the basis of local measurements of hydraulic conductivity, geostatistical methods have been found to be useful in heterogeneity characterization of a hydraulic conductivity field on a regional scale. Further, the reduction of uncertainty is spatially dependent, which indicates that good locations, geological structure, and boundary conditions will affect the efficiency of the SSC study results.
文摘The current calibration function used in calculating the magnitude of natural earthquakes within 5km is a constant; a fact that causes several serious difficulties for the calculation of the magnitude of small and shallow-focus earthquakes. It not only shows positive columnar lines indicating large magnitudes but also short negative columnar lines indicating small magnitudes.
