Protein con...The acceptability properties, total phenolic content, and antioxidant potential of four (red, green, brown, cream) desi chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) cultivars from the World Germplasm Bank were evaluated. Protein content of the grains varied from 20.12% to 28.85% (dw), highest for Cream ICC3421. The water absorption capacity (WAC) and cooking time (CT) of the whole grains ranged from 97.7 to 117.5 g water/100 g seeds (ww) and from 109.5 to 193.5 min, respectively;the highest WAC and lowest CT corresponded to Cream ICC3421 cultivar. The total phenolic content (TPC) and total hydrophilic antioxidant activity (AoxA) [oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) value] of desi chickpea cultivars varied from 746 to 1.286 μg gallic acid equivalents (GAE)/g sample (dw) and from 43.9 to 53.9 μmol Trolox equivalents (TE)/g sample (dw);Brown ICC3512 showed the highest ORAC value. Chickpea cultivars could contribute significantly to the management and/or prevention of degenerative diseases associated with free radical damage.展开更多
Given the pending completion and publication of the final Dark Energy Survey (DESI) results, this letter presents the corresponding predictions of the Haug-Tatum cosmology (HTC) model. In particular, we show in tabula...Given the pending completion and publication of the final Dark Energy Survey (DESI) results, this letter presents the corresponding predictions of the Haug-Tatum cosmology (HTC) model. In particular, we show in tabular and graphic form the “dark energy decay” curve which the HTC model predicts for cosmological redshifts covering the range of 0 - 2.0 z. Furthermore, we present the HTC model distance-vs-redshift curve in comparison to the three very different curves (for luminosity distance, angular diameter distance, and co-moving distance) calculated within the Lambda-CDM model. Whether the expansion of our universe is actually undergoing slight acceleration or the finely-tuned cosmic coasting at constant velocity of Rh = ct models, including HTC, will hopefully soon be answered by the many pending observational studies.展开更多

A direct determination method for the atrazine residue on the vegetable was developed by using desorption electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (DESI MS) without any sample pretreatment.Acetonitrile-water (1:1,v/v...A direct determination method for the atrazine residue on the vegetable was developed by using desorption electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (DESI MS) without any sample pretreatment.Acetonitrile-water (1:1,v/v),which contained 0.1% formic acid,was used as the spray solvent.The working conditions,such as ESI gas inlet pressure,ESI flow rate,ESI spray voltage,spray-to-sample distance,spray-to-cone-hole distance and the collision induced dissociation (CID) voltage for MS/MS,were optimized for both DESI and esquires 6 000 mass spectrometer.The linear range of atrazine on cabbage leaves was 25.25-2 525 pg/mm2,the R2 was 0.991 6,and the relative standard deviations were between 3.37% and 26.17%.The LOD of atrazine calculated by S/N=3 was 2.50 pg/mm2.展开更多
