Application of Scaffolding Instructional Models to English Listening Comprehension

The paper tries to research Scaffolding Instructional Model in listening English teaching. There will be the theoretical research of Scaffolding Instructional Model and then the findings confirmed by the questionnaire. The subjects in the experiment is a group of 80 students randomly selected from the Grade Three at a senior high school in Yili. The questionnaire I presents that the students are on the close level of English listening. They are divided into Experimental Group and Control Group. The Scaffolding Instructional Model will be used on the Experimental Group and Control Group will take the traditional teaching method. After four weeks two groups will attend the listening post-test and questionnaire II. According to the analysis of experimental data, the Experimental Group would get better listening comprehension grades than the Control Group. 展开更多

Nerve regeneration holds significant potential in the treatment of various skeletal and neurological disorders to restore lost sensory and motor functions.The potential of nerve regeneration in ameliorating neurological diseases and injuries is critical to human health.Three-dimensional(3D)printing offers versatility and precision in the fabrication of neural scaffolds.Complex neural structures such as neural tubes and scaffolds can be fabricated via 3Dprinting.This reviewcomprehensively analyzes the current state of 3D-printed neural scaffolds and explores strategies to enhance their design.It highlights therapeutic strategies and structural design involving neural materials and stem cells.First,nerve regeneration materials and their fabrication techniques are outlined.The applications of conductive materials in neural scaffolds are reviewed,and their potential to facilitate neural signal transmission and regeneration is highlighted.Second,the progress in 3D-printed neural scaffolds applied to the peripheral and central nerves is comprehensively evaluated,and their potential to restore neural function and promote the recovery of different nervous systems is emphasized.In addition,various applications of 3D-printed neural scaffolds in peripheral and neurological diseases,as well as the design strategies of multifunctional biomimetic scaffolds,are discussed. 展开更多

Past studies reveal the prevalence of anxiety,coupled with low motivation and disengagement among students in English-medium instruction(EMI)programs.Given the detrimental impact these negative emotions can have on learning outcomes,it is imperative that teachers establish positive emotional rapport with their students.This study explores how experienced and highly rated EMI lecturers at a Chinese university’s overseas campus use communication strategies to build rapport with their students during interactive academic activities.It identifies the strategies used by these lecturers and examines how the strategies facilitate the teaching-learning process.The data,consisting of 10 hours of tutorials and 10 hours of supervisor-student supervision meetings,is analyzed using an adapted Conversation Analysis(CA)approach.The analysis reveals three types of communication strategies(CSs)frequently used by lecturers:back-channeling,codeswitching,and co-creation of messages.By employing these strategies,the lecturers established a strong rapport with the students,which created an encouraging and supportive learning environment.Consequently,this positive atmosphere facilitated students’learning of content knowledge through English.The findings of this study have implications for the training of lecturers who encounter difficulties in establishing rapport with multilingual students in the EMI setting. 展开更多

The study determined the relative effectiveness of enriched demonstration and lecture instructional strategies on senior secondary school students’achievement in Chemistry.To achieve this,two research questions and three hypotheses were formulated to guide the study.Quasi-experimental design:specifically the pre-test,post-test,nonequivalent and non-randomized control group was adopted for the study.A total sample of one hundred and sixty-six(166)SS 1 students,drawn using multistage sampling technique were used for the study.The instrument used for data collection was Chemistry Achievement Test(CAT,r=0.82).Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions,while analysis of covariance(ANCOVA)was used to test the hypotheses.Findings from the study revealed that:there is significant difference between the achievement of students exposed to two enriched instructional strategies and those exposed to enriched traditional lecture strategy;there is no significant difference between male and female students exposed to the three modes of instructional strategies;and there is no significant interaction effect between the instructional strategies and gender.It was recommended that chemistry educators should focus attention on reforming or enriching the traditional instructional strategies and that chemistry teachers should particularly make use of the enriched demonstration strategy in their classroom interactions,among others. 展开更多

With the popularity of English learning in the world,the demand for instructional materials is increasing,and how to accurately convey the information of these texts to English-learners and provide the learners with an effective learning experience has become a major problem.Therefore,the role of the translator is crucial.It is found that that translators should make linguistic choices based on the text functions and target readers’expectations,and flexibly adopt the translation strategies,such as addition,conversion,and cohesion to convey the intention of the source author and generate the source context accurately and appropriately.Applying relevant theories to the analysis of translation cases,the paper tentatively puts forward solutions to the problems encountered in the E-C translation of chapter one of Murder Your Darlings and Other Gentle Writing Advice from Aristotle to Zinsser.Hopefully,it could provide a reference for other translators working on instructional texts. 展开更多

The effect of scaffolding instruction on learning among nursing students in China:a meta-analysis

Objective:To systematically evaluate the influence of scaffolding instruction on the learning effect of nursing students in China.Methods:Through the databases of CNKI,Wanfang,VIP,CBM,PubMed,Cochrane Library,Embase and Web of Science,the randomized controlled trials of scaffolding instruction in nursing field were collected from the establishment of the databases to the publication in March 2022.After literature screening,data extraction and quality evaluation,meta-analysis was performed using RevMan5.3 and Stata16.0 software.Results:Nineteen articles were included,with a total of 2,340 nursing students.Meta-analysis results showed that,compared with the traditional teaching method,the scaffolding instruction was significantly better in nursing students’theoretical examination scores(SMD=1.37,95%CI:1.00 to 1.75,P<0.001),operation skill scores(SMD=1.83,95%CI:1.23 to 2.42,P<0.001),communication ability(SMD=1.51,95%CI:0.70 to 2.32,P=0.0003)and teaching satisfaction(P<0.05).Conclusion:Scaffolding instruction can improve the theoretical and operational scores of nursing students,and it also has a positive impact on communication ability and teaching satisfaction.This teaching method deserves to be applied and promoted in the field of nursing education. 展开更多

Vocabulary teaching is one aspect of language teaching that has not been given the attention it deserves until recent years. For a long period of time, vocabulary is simply taught in the way by asking students to study and memorize its meaning and spelling, its part of speech and its general function in a sentence. Thus, a student with a command of five thousand English vocabulary still finds it hard to adapt himself to the requirement of our demanding reading assignments, in particular, to the extensive reading task, which is more demanding due to its wide range of materials and large amount of vocabularies. According to Wilkins (1979: 111) "Without grammar very little can be conveyed, without vocabulary, nothing can be conveyed." Yet without a deeper understanding of how vocabulary is taught in the classroom and which methods of teaching are more effective for learners, the teaching of vocabulary may not achieve the desired effects. By researching the topic on vocabulary learning and instruction, this essay intends to bring the attention of both teachers and learners to the weaknesses of the traditional approach of teaching vocabulary and some different strategies in vocabulary instruction with the aim of improving the students’ reading comprehension.\; 展开更多

This paper argues that learner autonomy may be promoted through strategy-based instruction. The intent of strategy-based instruction is to help all students become better language learners. When students begin to understand their own learning processes and can exert some control over these processes, they tend to take more responsibility for their own learning and become more autonomous. Students in vocational technical colleges have been regarded as low English proficiency learners due to their weak foundation in learning English. To explore the solution, the present study employed a specific survey of language learning strategy use and tried to conduct a one-semester language learning strategy training, aiming to investigate the effects of integrating language learning strategy into EFL instruction for non-English major students in vocational technical colleges. We found after the instruction, the difference in the frequency of overall strategy use between the experimental group and the control group was significant indicating that the students could be trained with language learning strategies to enhance the frequency of their strategy use. After language learning strategy instruction, the experimental group didn't perform significantly better than the control group in terms of their English language proficiency. However, the results of this present study still supported this viewpoint that the strategy instruction had positive impacts to some extent if properly conducted, for it had positive effects on enhancing students' language learning strategy use. 展开更多

背景:梯度人工骨修复支架模拟了骨骼系统中的独特特征,在骨骼系统再生中具有巨大的应用潜力。目的:综述梯度人工骨修复支架在骨骼系统组织工程中的最新研究进展,并阐述了其优势与制造策略。方法:由第一作者检索Web of Science和PubMed... 背景:梯度人工骨修复支架模拟了骨骼系统中的独特特征,在骨骼系统再生中具有巨大的应用潜力。目的:综述梯度人工骨修复支架在骨骼系统组织工程中的最新研究进展,并阐述了其优势与制造策略。方法:由第一作者检索Web of Science和PubMed数据库2000-2023年发表的文献,英文检索词为“gradient,bone regeneration,scaffold”,最终筛选后对76篇文献进行分析总结。结果与结论:①作为骨骼系统组织高效、高质量修复的重要手段,梯度人工骨修复支架目前针对骨组织、骨-软骨、肌腱-骨组织的天然梯度特征进行了仿生设计,这些支架能够一定程度地从结构、成分上模拟原生组织的细胞外基质,从而促进细胞黏附、迁移、增殖和分化,促进受损组织向原生状态再生恢复。②先进制造技术为梯度人工骨修复支架制备提供了更多可能;目前已经开发了通过空间差异化纤维排布和生物活性物质加载构建的梯度电纺纤维支架;分层叠加、分级孔隙率与生物3D打印技术制造的梯度3D打印支架;原位分层注射、简单逐层叠加、冷冻干燥法制造的梯度水凝胶支架;另外还包括其他方式或多方法联用的支架;这些支架在体外实验中展示了良好的生物相容性,在小型动物实验中能够加速组织再生并且观察到组织学结构明显改善。③目前开发的梯度人工骨修复支架仍需进一步优化,提高在梯度尺度上的匹配性,进一步明确材料与组织相互作用,避免降解产物导致的副反应等问题,未来需要结合相关学科优势与临床需求进一步优化。 展开更多
