The Adventures of Tom Sawyer是美国著名现实主义作家马克·吐温于19世纪70年代创作的重要作品之一,小说以对话为主,语言幽默风趣。本文基于合作原则和会话含意理论,以The Adventures of Tom Sawyer及成时汉译本为研究对象,通过对...The Adventures of Tom Sawyer是美国著名现实主义作家马克·吐温于19世纪70年代创作的重要作品之一,小说以对话为主,语言幽默风趣。本文基于合作原则和会话含意理论,以The Adventures of Tom Sawyer及成时汉译本为研究对象,通过对比英语原文和汉语译文,考察小说人物对话“会话含意”传递过程中所体现的翻译技巧。研究发现,增译、转换、分译、减译均能成功传递会话含意,而译者对翻译技巧的选择则受到译者认知、读者取向、英汉语言和文化差异等多重因素的综合影响。The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is one of the major works written by the famous American realist writer Mark Twain in the 1870s. The novel is dialogue-based with humorous language. Based on the cooperative principle and the conversational implicature theory, this study takes The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and its Chinese translation by Cheng Shi as the research object and investigates the translation techniques embodied in the transmission of “conversational implicature” of characters’ utterances by comparing the original English text and the Chinese translation. It is found that addition, shift, division and omission can all convey conversational implicature, and that the translator’s choice of translation techniques is influenced by multiple factors, such as translator’s cognition, readers’ orientation, and English-Chinese linguistic and cultural differences.展开更多
