An investigation between the efficiency of degradation by graphite electrode and the Ni/graphite modified electrode has been carried out. The different effects of concentration, current density and temperature on the rate of degradation were studied. This study shows that the rate of the degradation is more for Ni doped modified graphite electrode. UV-Visible spectra before and after degradation of the dye solution were observed. The thin film formation of Ni or encapsulated in graphite rod is observed by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM & EDAX). The instantaneous current effectiveness values of different experimental conditions are evaluated. The anodic oxidation by Ni/ graphite modified electrode showed the complete degradation of aqueous solution indigocarmine, which is confirmed by UV-Visible and chemical oxygen demand (COD) measurements. The dye is converted into CO2, H2O and simpler inorganic salts. The results observed for reuse of modified electrodes indicate that the Ni/graphite modified electrode would be a promising anode for electrochemical degradation of indigocarmine. This method can be applied for the remediation of waste water containing organics, cost-effective and simple.展开更多

The structure of the sample is characterized by X-ray powder diffraction analysis. Electrochemical properties including the discharge capacity, the cyclic stability and the high-rate discharge ability are tested. X-ray powder diffraction analysis shows that after heat treatment at 590 °C for 30 min, all samples mainly consist of the icosahedral quasicrystal phase (I-phase), Ti2Ni phase (FCC), V-based solid solution phase (BCC) and C14 Laves phase (hexagonal). Electrochemical measurements show that the maximum discharge capacity of the alloy electrode after heat treatment is 330.9 mA?h/g under the conditions that the discharge current density is 30 mA/g and the temperature is 30 °C. The result indicates that the cyclic stability and the high-rate discharge ability are all improved. In addition, the electrochemical kinetics of the alloy electrode is also studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and hydrogen diffusion coefficient (D).展开更多

The Ni(Ti) solid solution was formed in the initial milling process. When the milling time was 60 h, the alloy with uniform elemental distribution showed an amorphous structure containing a small amount of TiH2 nanocrystalline phase. The annealing treatment at 693 K contributed to a completion of amorphization for the alloy milled for 60 h. For the treatment at 1 073 K, a crystallization reaction for the amorphous phase occurred, leading to the formation of Ti2Ni, TiNi, and TiNi3 compounds by a short time treatment. Moreover, a separation of Ni-rich phases from the matrix and a phase transition among these three compounds occur by a long time treatment.展开更多
