We took an interest in the DVB-S2 standard in particular, because it is the one that governs the transmission by satellite of multimedia content from television programs. With ever-changing user needs, there are new challenges that the DVB-S2 standard is no longer able to meet due to errors caused by weather and hardware limitations. The main purpose of a satellite TV transmission is to obtain a video signal in reception of the best possible quality and at a high bit rate. It is therefore important to determine all the factors which could intervene in the process of transmission and which have a negative impact on the yield at the reception of the signal. We therefore designed and simulated the DVB-S and DVB-S2 transmission chains with QPSK modulation (and an FEC coding rate of 1/2), on MATLAB software (Simulink), and with an AWGN channel for the sake of comparison performance between these two chains. Then we carried out the design of the DVB-S2 transmission chain with an RF (Radio Frequency) satellite channel, by materializing all the elements which intervene in the downlink to evaluate the performance of this chain according to the factors which influence and/or degrade the signal quality between transmission and reception at the receiving earth station. The main results obtained relate to the DVB-S2 transmission chain and were interpreted using the visualization of the error rate blocks: With an AWGN channel, increasing the signal-to-noise ratio decreases the rate of erroneous packets and therefore improves the quality of the received signal. With an RF satellite channel on the downlink: increasing the transmit power improves the receive performance, this is useful for correcting most RF imperfections;having larger parabolic antennas is an advantage because they have greater gains;this makes it possible to minimize the rate of erroneous packets. These simulations allowed us to determine the precise and numerical impact of RF degradations on the performance of the downlink DVB-S2 transmission chain.展开更多

Up to 29 February 2020,SARS-CoV-2(HCoV-19/2019-nCoV) had infected more than 85 000 people in the world. In this study,we used 93 complete genomes of SARS-CoV-2 from the GISAID EpiFlu TM database to investigate the evolution and human-to-human transmissions of SARS-CoV-2 in the first two months of the outbreak. We constructed haplotypes of the SARS-CoV-2 genomes, performed phylogenomic analyses and estimated the potential population size changes of the virus. The date of population expansion was calculated based on the expansion parameter tau(τ)using the formula t=τ/2 u. A total of 120 substitution sites with 119 codons, including 79 non-synonymous and 40 synonymous substitutions, were found in eight coding-regions in the SARS-CoV-2 genomes.Forty non-synonymous substitutions are potentially associated with virus adaptation. No combinations were detected. The 58 haplotypes(31 found in samples from China and 31 from outside China)were identified in 93 viral genomes under study and could be classified into five groups. By applying the reported bat coronavirus genome(bat-RaTG13-CoV)as the outgroup, we found that haplotypes H13 and H38 might be considered as ancestral haplotypes, and later H1 was derived from the intermediate haplotype H3. The population size of the SARS-CoV-2 was estimated to have undergone a recent expansion on 06 January 2020, and an early expansion on 08 December 2019. Furthermore, phyloepidemiologic approaches have recovered specific directions of human-to-human transmissions and the potential sources for international infected cases.展开更多

By analyzing the spatial distribution features of major ions in Antarctic ice sheet and studying on the different time of the same volcanic event recorded by different ice cores from different regions in Antarctica, this paper intends to study the transmission path of nssSO 2- 4 and NO - 3. Results show that nssSO 2- 4 and NO - 3 are transmitted to the ice sheet through long distance and high altitude. The procedure of the transmission is that nssSO 2- 4 and NO - 3 are transmitted to the level between the top of troposphere and the bottom of stratosphere, then subsided to the ice sheet surface and spread to other regions.展开更多

Due tousing an uncoated capillary membrane, our φc is larger than that using a gold-coated one with a smaller value of Ep/q, which suggests a larger equilibrium charge Q∞ in our experiment. The observed special width variation with time and a larger width than that using a smaller Ep/q were qualitatively explained by using mean-field classical transport theory based on a classical-trajectory Monte Carlo simulation.展开更多

The variation of the transmission ratio with the ratio of joint spacing to wavelength was generalized into a general curve, which was determined by two critical points. The relationship between the two critical points and the affecting factors, quantity of joints and the normalized normal stiffness of joints, were obtained. A prediction model of the transmission ratio in the radian direction normal to the joints was proposed. The proposed model was applied to a field explosion test. The estimated values of the peak particle velocity from the prediction model were compared with the field records. The comparisons showed that the prediction model of the transmission ratio in the direction normal to the joints in the process of 2-D compressional wave propagation through multiple parallel joints is reliable.展开更多

Furthermore, phyloepidemiologic approaches have recovered specific directions of human-to-human transmissions and the potential sources for international infected cases.
文摘The appearance of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)variant Omicron(B.1.1.529)has caused panic responses around the world because of its high transmission rate and number of mutations. This review summarizes the highly mutated regions, the essential infectivity, transmission, vaccine breakthrough and antibody resistance of the Omicron variant of SARSCoV-2.The Omicron is highly transmissible and is spreading faster than any previous variant, but may cause less severe symptoms than previous variants. The Omicron is able to escape the immune system’s defenses and coronavirus disease 2019 vaccines are less effective against the Omicron variant.Early careful preventive steps including vaccination will always be key for the suppression of the Omicron variant.
文摘The main sources of nssSO 2- 4 and NO - 3 were summarized in this paper. The procedure of the transmission is that nssSO 2- 4 and NO - 3 are transmitted to the level between the top of troposphere and the bottom of stratosphere, then subsided to the ice sheet surface and spread to other regions.
文摘Nomadic Vehicular Cloud(NVC)is envisaged in this work. The predo-minant aspects of NVC is,it moves along with the vehicle that initiates it and functions only with the resources of moving vehicles on the heavy traffic road without relying on any of the static infrastructure and NVC decides the initiation time of container migration using cell transmission model(CTM).Containers are used in the place of Virtual Machines(VM),as containers’features are very apt to NVC’s dynamic environment. The specifications of 5G NR V2X PC5 interface are applied to NVC,for the feature of not relying on the network coverage.Nowa-days,the peak traffic on the road and the bottlenecks due to it are inevitable, which are seen here as the benefits for VC in terms of resource availability and residual in-network time. The speed range of high-end vehicles poses the issue of dis-connectivity among VC participants, that results the container migration failure. As the entire VC participants are on the move,to maintain proximity of the containers hosted by them, estimating their movements plays a vital role.To infer the vehicle movements on the road stretch and initiate the container migration prior enough to avoid the migration failure due to vehicles dynamicity, this paper proposes to apply the CTM to the container based and 5G NR V2X enabled NVC.The simulation results show that there is a significant increase in the success rate of vehicular cloud in terms of successful container migrations.
文摘Public transport environments are thought to play a key role in the spread of SARS-CoV-2 worldwide.Indeed, high crowding indexes(i.e.high numbers of people relative to the vehicle size),inadequate clean air supply, and frequent extended exposure durations make transport environments potential hotspots for transmission of respiratory infections.During the COVID-19 pandemic, generic mitigation measures(e.g.physical distancing)have been applied without also considering the airborne transmission route. This is due to the lack of quantified data about airborne contagion risk in transport environments. In this study,we apply a novel combination of close proximity and room-scale risk assessment approaches for people sharing public transport environments to predict their contagion risk due to SARS-CoV-2 respiratory infection. In particular, the individual infection risk of susceptible subjects and the transmissibility of SARS-CoV-2(expressed through the reproduction number)are evaluated for two types of buses, differing in terms of exposure time and crowding index:urban and long-distance buses.Infection risk and reproduction number are calculated for different scenarios as a function of the ventilation rates(both measured and estimated according to standards),crowding indexes, and travel times. The results show that for urban buses, the close proximity contribution significantly affects the maximum occupancy to maintain a reproductive number of<1.In particular, full occupancy of the bus would be permitted only for an infected subject breathing, whereas for an infected subject speaking, masking would be required. For long-distance buses, full occupancy of the bus can be maintained only if specific mitigation solutions are simultaneously applied. For example, for an infected person speaking for 1 h,appropriate filtration of the recirculated air and simultaneous use of FFP2 masks would permit full occupancy of the bus for a period of almost 8 h.Otherwise,a high percentage of immunized persons(>80%)would be needed.

文摘This paper reports that the transmission of O6+ ions with energy of 150keV through capillaries in an uncoated Al2O3 membrane was measured, and agreements with previously reported results in general angular distribution of the transmitted ions and the transmission fractions as a function of the tilt angle well fitted to Gaussian-like functions were observed. Due tousing an uncoated capillary membrane, our φc is larger than that using a gold-coated one with a smaller value of Ep/q, which suggests a larger equilibrium charge Q∞ in our experiment. The observed special width variation with time and a larger width than that using a smaller Ep/q were qualitatively explained by using mean-field classical transport theory based on a classical-trajectory Monte Carlo simulation.

文摘There is a critical need to develop animal models to alleviate vaccine and drug development difficulties against zoonotic viral infections. The coronavirus family, which includes severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 1 and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2,crossed the species barrier and infected humans, causing a global outbreak in the 21st century.Because humans do not have pre-existing immunity against these viral infections and with ethics governing clinical trials, animal models are therefore being used in clinical studies to facilitate drug discovery and testing efficacy of vaccines. The ideal animal models should reflect the viral replication, clinical signs, and pathological responses observed in humans.Different animal species should be tested to establish an appropriate animal model to study the disease pathology, transmission and evaluation of novel vaccine and drug candidates to treat coronavirus disease 2019.In this context, the present review summarizes the recent progress in developing animal models for these two pathogenic viruses and highlights the utility of these models in studying SARS-associated coronavirus diseases.

文摘The transmission ratio along the radian direction normal to the joints was studied in the Universal Distinct Element Code (UDEC). The comparisons showed that the prediction model of the transmission ratio in the direction normal to the joints in the process of 2-D compressional wave propagation through multiple parallel joints is reliable.

文摘The physical properties of the rock units associated with the Rio Bonito Formation are presented in this study with the focus on modelling reservoir quality based on petrophysics-derived parameters to evaluate CO_(2)storage potentials. It involves the modelling of the reservoir depths, thicknesses, flow zone indicators(FZI),and effective permeability(Keff)and presenting the CO_(2)storage efficiency factors peculiar to the rock units of the study location.Research results presented by this study for the stated objectives are not quite common in the region.Keff values range from 200 mD to higher than 2000 mD,and FZI values are generally above 1.0 mm and up to 13.0 mm within the portions covered by the drilled wells. The sandstone units recorded are up to 20 m thick in some cases. The Keff and FZI models indicate the sandstone reservoirs as permeable units to support the injection and circulation of CO_(2)within the potential reservoir units of the Rio Bonio Formation across São Paulo State.Apart from some points in the southeastern part of the study location, where the Rio Bonito are delineated at depths less than 800 m(minimum CO_(2)storage depth based on best practices),other portions are deeper, ranging from 950 m to 3500 m.Thin-bedded layers will affect the integrity of the rocks as CO_(2)storage tanks or reservoir seals/traps/overburden within the region.Sandstone bed thicknesses are up to 20 m in some cases. However, hybrid CO_(2)reservoir units are feasible, especially in portions where thin siltstone layers are sandwiched between sandstone units to provide considerable thicknesses based on CO_(2)storage standards. The current study shows that useable areas considering reservoir thickness, depth, and other physical qualities will significantly control the CO_(2)storage efficiency of the study location.Further studies featuring a detailed geophysical exploration of the site to confirm the availability and saturations of preexisting fluid(hydrocarbon and water)are encouraged to boost CO_(2)storage in the region. The related research-based results,as mentioned above, may be combined with the results of this research to determine the area's potentials for CO_(2)storage or hydrocarbon production with CO_(2)storage options.

文摘The structure–property relationship at interfaces is difficult to probe for thermoelectric materials with a complex interfacial microstructure.Designing thermoelectric materials with a simple,structurally-uniform interface provides a facile way to understand how these interfaces influence the transport properties. Here,we synthesized Bi_(2−x)Sb_(x)Te_(3)(x=0,0.1,0.2,0.4)nanoflakes using a hydrothermal method, and prepared Bi_(2−x)Sb_(x)Te_(3)thin films with predominantly(0001)interfaces by stacking the nanoflakes through spin coating. The influence of the annealing temperature and Sb content on the(0001)interface structure was systematically investigated at atomic scale using aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy.Annealing and Sb doping facilitate atom diffusion and migration between adjacent nanoflakes along the(0001)interface.As such it enhances interfacial connectivity and improves the electrical transport properties.Interfac reactions create new interfaces that increase the scattering and the Seebeck coefficient.Due to the simultaneous optimization of electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient, the maximum power factor of the Bi_(1.8)Sb_(0.2)Te_(3)nanoflake films reaches 1.72 mW m^(−1)K^(−2),which is 43%higher than that of a pure Bi_(2)Te_(3)thin film.

文摘The Device-to-Device(D2D)communication underlaying cellular networks is considered in this study. The D2D transmitter in the D2D mode can directly transmit messages to a receiver, but it may interfere with the transmission of another cellular user who shares the same uplink channel. The transmitter can also operate in a cellular mode in which no interference to another cellular user occurs. We propose a mode selection scheme that aims to minimize the transmission power of the D2D transmitter subject to constraints on the minimum required data rate and maximum interference to other cellular users. The proposed scheme is based on bounds for transmission power and is less complex than the optimal scheme.Furthermore,it requires only a few statistics and does not need a fading channel distribution. The performance of the scheme is close to optimum when the number of Base Station(BS)antennas is large, and the mean absolute deviation of the fading terms is small. We verify this with numerical results of the Rician and Rayleigh fading channels by assuming that the BS antennas are independent. The simulation results for the two correlated BS antennas are presented herein.
