Finite element (FE) simulation can obtain the distribution of strain, strain rate, temperature and die filling status, which indicates state-of-stress (SOS) workability decided by die shape and different processing conditions. On the basis of this, a new material driven analysis method for hot deformation was put forward by the combination of FE simulation with 3D processing maps, which can demonstrate material workability of the entire hot deformation process including SOS workability and intrinsic workability. The hot forging process for hard-to-work metal magnesium alloy was studied, and the 3D thermomechanical FE simulation including 3D processing maps of complex hot forging spur bevel gear was first conducted. The hot forging experiments were carried out. The results show that the new method is reasonable and suitable to determine the aoorooriate nrocess narameters.展开更多

Incoming materials are trying to adopt 3D printing techniques which directly fabricate sophisticated entities with multifunctionality like mechanical, electrical, thermal and magnetic properties etc. For the realization of advanced materials, 3D printing techniques are emerging from single material to composite materials manufacturing by simply introducing the nano- and micro-reinforcements with the matrix. In this review, we provide an outline of 3D printing graphene-based composites according to various AM techniques including fused deposition modeling (FDM), direct ink writing (DIW), stereolithography (SLA) and selective laser sintering (SLS). First a brief introduction of various AM techniques is given to get a basic understanding of the principles of 3D printing, and then the fabrication process, structural characteristics and applications of different 3D printing techniques for graphene-based composites are summarized. In addition, some effective simulation and characterization methods are also included. We hope that this review would clarify the potential of AM techniques for composite materials and can open new prospects for designing of novel materials.展开更多

Analytical model based on the rigid-plastic hardening(R-PH) model was used to predict the blast response of density-graded cellular rods. Finite element(FE) analysis was performed using a new model based on the 3 D Voronoi technique. The FE results have a good agreement with the analytical predictions. The blast response and energy absorption of cellular rods with the same mass but different density distributions were examined under different blast loading. As a blast resistance structure, cellular materials with high energy absorption and low impulse transmit is attractive. However, high energy absorption and low impulse transmit cannot be achieved at the same time by changing the density distribution. The energy absorption capacity increases with the initial blast pressure and characteristic time of the exponentially decaying blast loading. By contract, when the blast loading exceeds the resistance capacity of cellular material, the transmitted stress will be enhanced which is detrimental to the structure being protected.展开更多

Graphene-based inks are ideal elements for the realization of 3D printed energy storage devices if the attractive intrinsic physiochemical properties of graphene could be preserved. However, it is still a great challenge to prepare uniformly dispersed graphene-based materials with desired rheological properties for 3D printing. Here we report a facile strategy for 3D printing of supercapacitors from a highly concentrated graphene oxide (GO) ink. The GO is properly dispersed and the ink fulfills the stringent rheological specifications for 3D printing. The printed GO electrode is functionalized with enhanced structural stability for proper reduction to graphene. The printed supercapacitors deliver the potential to linearly scale up in areal capacitance without jeopardizing the gravimetric capacitance when increasing printed layers. The results hold great promise for the construction of 3D structured energy storage devices that cater to the challenges from next-generation electronics.展开更多

Nevertheless, its application is restricted by tremendous volume variation and tardy reaction kinetic during discharge/charge process. In this paper, the Ge/3DPG composites with Ge nanoparticles uniformly dispersed in 3D interconnected porous graphene(3DPG) skeleton are successfully prepared using a template-assisted in-situ reduction method. The unique 3D interconnected porous graphene can not only enhance the electronic conductivity and reaction kinetics of the materials, but also provide sufficient buffer space to effectively mitigate the volume expansion during cycling and strengthen the structural integrity. Moreover, the small-sized Ge nanoparticles in close conjunction with the 3D graphene can boost the surface-controlled reaction of the electrode, which contributes to a fast charge–discharge rate capability. The Ge/3DPG composite with optimized Ge/graphene mass ratio delivers high reversible specific capacity(1102 mAh g^(-1) after 100 cycles at 0.2 C), outstanding rate capability(494 mAh g^(-1) at 5 C), and admirable cycling stability(85.3% of capacity retention after 250 cycles at 0.5 C). This work provides a significant inspiration for the design and fabrication of advanced Ge-based anode materials for next-generation highperformance LIBs.展开更多

Free-standing graphene-based composite paper electrodes with various active materials have appealed wide applications in flexible LIBs. However, due to the prone-to-restacking feature of graphene layers, a long cycle life at high current densities is rather difficult to be achieved. Herein, a unique threedimensional(3D) hierarchically porous NiO micro-flowers/graphene paper(fNiO/GP) electrode is successfully fabricated. The resulting fNiO/GP electrode shows superior long-term cycling stability at high rates(e.g., storage capacity of 359 mAh/g after 600 cycles at a high current density of 1 A/g). The facile 3D porous structure combines both the advantages of the graphene that is highly conductive and flexible to ensure rapid electrons/ions transfer and buffer the volume expansion of NiO during charge/discharge,and of the micro-sized NiO flowers that induces hierarchical between-layer pores ranging from nanomicro meters to promote the penetration of the electrolyte and prevent the re-stacking of graphene layers. Such structural design will inspire future manufacture of a wide range of active materials/graphene composite electrodes for high performance flexible LIBs.展开更多

Results of the flow visualization show that the material flow is asymmetrical during the friction stir welding (FSW) process and there are also significant differences in the flow patterns observed on advancing side and retreating side. On advancing side, some material transport forward and some move backward, but on retreating side, material only transport backward. At the top surface of the weld, significant material transport forward due to the action of the rotating tool shoulder. Combining the data from all the markers, a three-dituensional flow visualization, similar to the 3D image reconstruction technique, was obtained. The three-dimensional plot gives the tendency chart of material flow in friction stir welding process and from the plot it can be seen that there is a vertical, circular motion around the longitudinal axis of the weld. On the advancing side of the weld, the material is pushed downward but on the retreating side, the material is pushed toward the crown of the weld. The net result of the two relative motions in both side of the advancing and the retreating is that a circular motion comes into being. Comparatively, the material flow around the longitudinal axis is a secondary motion.展开更多

文摘The three-dimensional (3D) processing maps considering strain based on the two-dimensional (2D) processing maps proposed by PRASAD can describe the distribution of the efficiency of power dissipation and flow instability regions at various temperatures, strain rates and strains, which exhibit intrinsic workability related to material itself. The results show that the new method is reasonable and suitable to determine the aoorooriate nrocess narameters.

文摘3D printing or additive manufacturing (AM) has revolutionized the way of manufacturing by designing complex structures in a customized feature which cannot be realized by traditional processing methods. We hope that this review would clarify the potential of AM techniques for composite materials and can open new prospects for designing of novel materials.
文摘One-dimensional blast response of continuous-density graded cellular rods was investigated theoretically and numerically. By contract, when the blast loading exceeds the resistance capacity of cellular material, the transmitted stress will be enhanced which is detrimental to the structure being protected.

文摘3D printing of functional energy storage devices is receiving escalating attention over the years due to the customizable manufacturing flexibility and imparted high areal and gravimetric energy density of three-dimensional structured devices, which contribute to the creation of numerous new opportunities for futuristic electronics. The results hold great promise for the construction of 3D structured energy storage devices that cater to the challenges from next-generation electronics.

文摘A novel three-dimension(3D)graphene/MgO composite was synthesized through self-assembly and embedding MgO nanoparticle in reduced graphene in situ.Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,thermal gravimetric analysis(TGA),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscope(TEM),powder X-raydiffraction(XRD)and X-rayphotoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)were employed to characterize the prepared 3D graphene/MgO composite. The adsorption performance of some metal ions on 3D graphene/MgO was investigated. The results showed that the adsorption capacity was greater than 3D graphene and the maximum adsorption capacity at 25℃was found to be 358.96 mg/g,388.4 mg/g and 169.8 mg/g for Pb^2+,Cd^2+and Cu^2+,respectively.The adsorption kinetic conformed to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and the adsorption isotherm was well described by Langmuir model. The thermodynamic constants revealed that the sorption process was endothermic and spontaneous in nature.Based on the results of the removal of heavy metal ions from metal smelting wastewater,it can be concluded that the prepared 3D graphene/MgO composite is an effective and potential adsorbent.

文摘Germanium(Ge), an alloy-type anode material for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs), possesses many advantages such as high theoretical capacity and decent electrical conductivity. This work provides a significant inspiration for the design and fabrication of advanced Ge-based anode materials for next-generation highperformance LIBs.

文摘Increasing both clean water and green energy demands for survival and development are the grand challenges of our age. Here,we successfully fabricate a novel multifunctional 3D graphene-based catalytic membrane(3D-GCM)with active metal nanoparticles(AMNs)loading for simultaneously obtaining the water purification and clean energy generation, via a“green”one-step laser scribing technology. The as-prepared 3D-GCM shows high porosity and uniform distribution with AMNs,which exhibits high permeated fluxes(over 100 L m^(−2) h^(−1))and versatile super-adsorption capacities for the removal of tricky organic pollutants from wastewater under ultra-low pressure-driving(0.1 bar). After adsorption saturating, the AMNs in 3D-GCM actuates the advanced oxidization process to self-clean the fouled membrane via the catalysis, and restores the adsorption capacity well for the next time membrane separation. Most importantly, the 3D-GCM with the welding of laser scribing overcomes the lateral shear force damaging during the long-term separation. Moreover, the 3D-GCM could emit plentiful of hot electrons from AMNs under light irradiation, realizing the membrane catalytic hydrolysis reactions for hydrogen energy generation. This“green”precision manufacturing with laser scribing technology provides a feasible technology to fabricate high-efficient and robust 3D-GCM microreactor in the tricky wastewater purification and sustainable clean energy production as well.

文摘The 3D needled C/SiC brake materials modified with graphite were prepared by a combined process of the chemical vapor infiltration, slurry infiltration and liquid silicon infiltration process. The microstructure and frictional properties of the brake materials were investigated. The density and open porosity of the materials as-received were about(2.1±0.1)g/cm3and(5±1)%,respectively.The brake materials were composed of 59%C,39%SiC,and 2%Si(mass fraction). The content of Si in the C/SiC brake materials modified with graphite was far less than that in the C/SiC brake materials without being modified with graphite, and the Si was dispersed. The braking curve of the 3D needled C/SiC modified with graphite was smooth, which can ensure the smooth and comfortable braking. The frictional properties under wet condition of the 3D needled C/SiC modified with graphite showed no fading. And the linear wear rate of the C/SiC modified with graphite was lower than that of the C/SiC unmodified.

文摘With the rapid emergence of wearable devices, flexible lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) are much more needed than ever. Such structural design will inspire future manufacture of a wide range of active materials/graphene composite electrodes for high performance flexible LIBs.

文摘For delivering the nanoscaled extraordinary characteristics in macroscopical bulk,it is essential to integrate two-dimensional nanosheets into threedimensional(3D)porous monoliths, alternatively called as 3D architectures,3D networks,or aerogels. The intersupported structure of porous monolithic 3D graphene(3DG)can prevent aggregation or restacking of graphene individuals, and the interconnected sp^(2) network of 3DG not only can provide the highway for the transport of electron/phonon but also can present continual cavities/channels for mass transfer. This review summarizes the synthesis methodology of 3DG porous monoliths and highlights the application for electric double-layer capacitors.Present challenges and future prospects about the manufacture and application of 3DG are also discussed.
文摘The material flow in friction stir welded 2014 Al alloy has been investigated using a marker insert technique (MIT). Comparatively, the material flow around the longitudinal axis is a secondary motion.
