Inspired by the design philosophy of information metasurfaces based on the digital coding concept,a planar 4-bit reconfigurable antenna array with low profile of 0.15λ0(whereλ0is the free-space wavelength)is present...Inspired by the design philosophy of information metasurfaces based on the digital coding concept,a planar 4-bit reconfigurable antenna array with low profile of 0.15λ0(whereλ0is the free-space wavelength)is presented.The array is based on a digital coding radiation element consisting of a 1-bit magnetoelectric(ME)dipole and a miniaturized reflection-type phase shifter(RTPS).The proposed 1-bit ME dipole can provide two digital states of"0"and"1"(with 0°and 180°phase responses)over a wide frequency band by individually exciting its two symmetrical feeding ports.The designed RTPS is able to realize a relative phase shift of 173°.By digitally quantizing its phase in the range of 157.5°,additional eight digital states at intervals of 22.5°are obtained.To achieve low sidelobe levels,a 1:16 power divider based on the Taylor line source method is employed to feed the array,A prototype of the proposed 4-bit antenna array has been fabricated and tested,and the experimental results are in good agreement with the simulations.Scanning beams within a±45°range were measured with a maximum realized gain of 13.4 dBi at12 GHz.The sidelobe and cross-polarization levels are below-14.3 and-23.0 dB,respectively.Furthermore,the beam pointing error is within 0.8°,and the 3 dB gain bandwidth of the broadside beam is 25%.Due to its outstanding performance,the array holds potential for significant applications in radar and wireless communication systems.展开更多

At the same time, if the complexity of the video sequence remains high for a long period, then driving up th...Frame skipping in low bit video coding could significantly reduce the visual quality of reconstructed video. At the same time, if the complexity of the video sequence remains high for a long period, then driving up the long term average bit rate, the only resort of MPEG-4 Q2 rate control algorithm results in using a high quantization scale, which shows a poor visual quality of the reconstructed video. This paper analyzes the main causes of frame skipping in current MPEG-4 frame rate control scheme, and presents a new rate control algorithm based on the quadratic R-D model over a CBR channel. Key features of the present work are: 1) the bits allocated to each P-frame or B-frame are in proportion to its distance from the end of this GOP, i.e. more bits are allocated to the frames that are nearer to their reference Ⅰ-frame; 2) the target buffer level is changeable in the GOP, at the end of each GOP(five P-frames or B-frames), the target buffer level is linearly reduced from 1/2 to 1/4 of buffer size, to other frames, the target buffer level is set to 1/2 of buffer size; 3) a selective and judicious use of the reduced resolution mode, in addition to a modulation of the quantization scale parameter, is to control the average long term bit rate. Experimental results with different video sequences of varied complexity, encoded at low bit rates show better efficacy of the proposed algorithm than MPEG-4 Q2 rate control scheme, and the experimental results also show that the improved algorithm has significantly reduced the number of frame skipping, increased the overall PSNR, and improved the perceptual quality.展开更多
A novel scheme which can realize high-speed optical signals transmission and reception by using 4-pulsed amplitude modulation (4-PAM) and demodulation in 10 Gb/s passive optical access systems with different bandwidth...A novel scheme which can realize high-speed optical signals transmission and reception by using 4-pulsed amplitude modulation (4-PAM) and demodulation in 10 Gb/s passive optical access systems with different bandwidth optical Bessel filter (OBF) is introduced. In this scheme, a PAM sequence generator module, an M-ary pulse generator module and one Mach-Zehnder intensity Modulator (MZM) are employed for generating the 10 Gb/s optical 4-PAM signals. And then, the generated optical 4-PAM signal achieves transmission over 20 km single mode fiber (SMF) for downstream (DS) access links application. Finally, the optical 4-PAM signal after transmission is directly detected and demodulated. We measure time-domain sequential waveform curves, optical spectrum curves, and eye-diagrams, and analyze the receiver sensitivity of 10 Gb/s 4-PAM signals before and after transmission. The received performance of the optical 4-PAM signals after transmission over 20 km single mode fiber (SMF) with different bandwidth OBF has also been analyzed.展开更多
